Boba Fett? BOBA FETT?

https://www.hollywoo...-direct-1113273

Boba Fett movie in the works with James Mangold.

Yes I saw that! That's pretty exciting, I'm looking forward to it. I still hope they do a Kenobi movie as well but this should be good too.

I'm definitely going to avoid this thread now until I see Solo.

At this point, the fact that they haven't properly announced the Obi-Wan movie and here they are announcing a damned Boba-Fett movie...I'm not sure WTF is going on at LFL, but who green lights a Boba-Fett movie before an Obi-Wan movie? Ugh.

Also, the debut of SOLO overseas is behind JUSTICE LEAGUE so far for box office...so I mean...that ain't good.

Seeing it later today. Will report back.

I know I feel like the fans want an Kenobi movie more than a Boba Fett one at this point so I'm not sure what they're doing. James Mangold's still doing another movie at this point so who knows what they've got planned, maybe they already have something planned for Kenobi.

I've heard Kenobi is already in pre-prodiuciton with Stephen Daldry at the head...but they've not announced it yet officially. I expected an official announcement this weekend since SOLO is out and they like to get the news of the "next" flick out as the one is debuting...but we got BOBA-FETT announced instead....and I'm just not sure what story there is to tell unless they are trying to humanize a villainous bounty hunter...which will diminish Fett's already kind of weak mystique.

That's true, plus I'm not sure how they'll do a whole movie with him in his helmet, unless he takes it off all the time which would be pretty lame if you ask me.

Yep, and that WILL happen if they hire any kind of name actor for it.

I'd be pretty disappointed if they did that. Like maybe once or twice in the movie have him take it off if it makes sense storywise but the majority of the time he should have it on, that's how it always was in the old EU but who knows now.
As long as they make him still an amoral bounty hunter only looking out for himself I'll be happy but who are we kidding, it's Disney.

I think it would be cool if he wasn’t the main character in the movie. Maybe he’s the big bad, but another group is the central plot. Kinda like in Clone Wars where the story is obi wan and satine, with the deathwatch as the nemesis. But who knows.

I mean that's the only way this makes sense. If you make him the protagonist, it automatically means humanizing him and that's a mistake.

Much as I liked it, I doubt it will even get near Rogue One in terms of box office.

Just a feeling.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

It's Ron Howard. He makes GOOD, but workmanlike films that play it safe, and hit checkboxes.

And that's fine, but yes, it usually doesn't make for box office audience gold.

Well that was absolutely fantastic! Felt like a 3 episode arc of REBELS. Solid, adventure storytelling with lots of Star Wars Easter eggs throughout.

That cameo was AMAAAAAAAAAZING!

There are lots of little links to CWs, Rebels and Rogue One. Way more than I expected, and I bet I missed some.

Bombing hard.

I have to admit I'm a bit surprised it's doing this poorly. I knew it would not do the main Saga business or ROGUE ONE...but this is really quite a pitiful box office turn.

Whether this is the result of people who hated TLJ (there are more of us than people think and that number seems to be growing) not wanting to give Disney cash right now, or people not caring about a Solo origin story, or the behind the scenes shenanigans making people wary...a $148mil opening weekend (including Thursday screenings and opening simultaneously in China) on the back of a $300+mil movie (after nearly an entire film reshoot)....is a terrible showing. I mean, the longshot is that good word of mouth (it IS a good film, as I stated I like it second best after RO) might give it decent legs to make enough money to not be a total disaster, but that's not looking likely. Theatres were apparently half empty opening night.

'Disney Course Correction' incoming methinks...and you can guarantee the Rian Johnson trilogy is going to be announced as 'going away' (insider scuttle from the LFL Story Group is that it's already been put on ice and they just haven't announced that fact yet) sooner rather than later. The bigger notification that a course correction is on its way, is that Ron Howard, when interviewed about his film the other day made a point to explicitly state "You HAVE to think about the fans"...which is a DIRECT rebuttal of the Rian Johnson line during the TLJ BluRayDVD Apology Tour of "You don't have to think about the fans, you have to make the movie YOU want to make"

Anyways, people should still go see this. It's a wonderfully entertaining little film. A few little stumbles, and Alden isn't REALLY the best choice for Han (though he does have a few tiny moments where I bought it), but everything else here is lots of fun and well constructed.

Regarding Han, Alden is actually at his very best "acting wise" when he's NOT trying to be Han and instead is just acting. There are a few sequences where I thought "He's not being Han here, but that's letting him be REALLY good!"

I think if he continues to play the role, he should just make it his own as best he can. He'll never top or reach Ford...but he can make a young Han that is quite watchable.

Oh man, this means no Luke for IX I think (or he's going to ask for a HEFTY pay increase to do it).
