Some early hacked footage dropped on the interwebs today. Damn, it looks like this movie gets a little dark, because Chuey is being auctioned off at a slave market by giant humans. Damn, I didn't think Star Battles would ever take it there. Fight for freedom Cheuy! Hand will probably swoop on in commandeering the Million Falcon (or whatever the f it's called) and save him at the last second. Hang on Chuey! Hand is on his way!

I think that Glover will be the thing that makes this any kind of earner at the box office, as he looks to be absolutely NAILING his portrayal of Lando. In fact, I kind of wish this was just a Lando movie to be honest. I'd be more interested in that.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has a LONG, UPHILL road to go to get even CLOSE as the funny "droid sidekick" role to Tudyk's stellar portrayal of K-2SO in RO...and the bits of her in the trailer didn't fill me with hope. I'll be happy to be surprised though.

Alden...ugh Alden. Not just leading a film for the first time, but after such a MINIMAL career thus far....AND you're being asked to be a beloved fan-fave character (in a prequel movie no one asked for yet) played by a stalwart and beloved curmudgeonly actor Harrison Ford originally. It's literally a zero-win situation, and that's bright and shining through...none of his lines feel like they are being delivered by Han to me. And is it me or did they digital alter him in this trailer to sound a bit more bass-y in his voice? It seemed higher in the last trailer. Who knows, he may knock it out of the park...but none of the trailers have given me that impression, and the movie KIND of should fly on his performance.

If Glover's Lando comes out the most memorable part of a HAN SOLO movie...(and I definitely think he will to be honest)...that's not a good thing.

We will see.

The trailer are doing their level best to give me the same vibes I had from the ROGUE ONE trailers, so that's good. Alden is my only real hangup and I'll get over it quick if the rest is as solid as it looks.

But who are they kidding with the Chewie-hanging out of train....rock outcropping nonsense...no one would think he's going to eat it since he's...you know still alive 60 years later.

Funny how in the EU he's the first one of the main characters to die yet in the new movies he's the last one alive (assuming leia dies offscreen).
Although who knows, maybe in the next one Kylo will have a new superweapon that shoots moons and chewie will bite it then.

Think after TLJ I'll skip this one and any others now... at least at the cinema.

I'm still likely to see it....but I'm not rushing out to see it opening weekend by a long stretch. I refuse to contribute to any opening weekend box office numbers after TLJ. But it still looks good, mostly on the back of Glover's turn as Lando.

I would have thought that supporting the movies that are more like this and Rogue One would be more beneficial in the long run. Especially if you don't want more like tLJ!

Personally I'd rather have more individual SW movies from different directors set in and around the existing timeline, so I'll be there.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
