I was thinking yesterday. The Han trilogy is one of the very FEW books I didn't own or plan to ever own. I really didn't like the Centerpoint trilogy, and wasn't the least bit into the 2 NJO Agents books that introduced the Ryn temp co pilot after Chewy dies from the MOOOOOON falling on his head.
Han is a beloved character to me but I realized that I've never been to keen on him being center stage.
Agreed, though I did like the Ryn. And Han struggling to get over Chewie was one of the few times he was actually an interesting character.
Obi-wan - No! What are you going to do - him as a kid, or between Ep 3 and 4? Either way it probably isn't going to be that exciting.
Unless he had some badass adventures before settling down in the Jundland wastes.
Hmmm, on second thought, "Obi-Wan Kenobi: Exile" could work, if done right. But I'm skeptical.

"Fortune favors the bold, though statistics favor the cautious." - Indomitable Courteous (Icy) Fist, The Palace Job - Patrick Weekes
"Well well well ... if it ain't The Invisible C**t." - Billy Butcher, The Boys
"I have strong views about not tempting providence and, as a wise man once said, the difference between luck and a wheelbarrow is, luck doesn’t work if you push it." - Colonel Orhan, Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City - KJ Parker
It's a less aggravating idea than the Han Solo one- there is a lot of space for interesting stories with Obi Wan between the two trilogies- but I was really hoping that these standalones would take the chance to take some bigger detours from what we already know.
Mention of Krennic at least in Rebels trailer, with the Death troopers also making an appearance - Cassian might show I guess. Would be great to get a few more solid links into Rogue One.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
Saw the trailer watching the SB, and it was not until the trailer that I realized how little I want to see a solo origin story. May watch about a year after it hits netflix
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism. When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours
I'm just a sucker for Star Wars I guess. That framed shot of the Destroyer was nice. And the Falcon.. all shiny and new.
It looks like it has a lot more plates on it - like the Falcon we know has been stripped right down over the years, making it look like junk.
I saw some Twi'leks in there too...

Looks perfectly fine but I am not sure about this guy they cast for Han Solo. I see none of the charm or roguish nature Harrison Ford brought to that character. The fact that they actually show him so little in the trailer suggests to me that the producers know it too. Or maybe they're just saving the best lines for later... right? ... that's something I've never seen a marketing department do... but...
EDIT: I see QT beat me to it in an older thread.

And here's the full trailer. Which I feel is better.
Now I am also someone who didn't (and doesn't) think that Han's past is one we need to explore...but I think this looks decent. Not great mind you, but decent. Like a 2hour episode of REBELS, you know?
I think the make or break MIGHT be Alden though...and if that trailer is any example, he can't do a Harrison Ford impersonation to save his damned life. Like it's not even close. The dialogue is very Han Solo ("I thought we were in trouble there...we're fine...we're fine.")...but Alden's delivery is...odd. It was going to take a herculean effort to get someone in the role who fit...and I don't know if Alden does....and when they had the chance to cast Anthony Ingruber (who does an AMAZING young Harrison Ford) and didn't....well.
Anyways, otherwise this looks decent. It feels Star Wars-y to me. Ron Howard is a consulate professional and workmanlike director. It gives me vibes of ROGUE ONE to be honest.
And it's probably at least a LITTLE tailored of a personal opinion on the back of me hating THE LAST JEDI so much, that I think this looks pretty cool.
Perhaps these anthology movies are where my jam is at in the new canon.
And don't worry BK...I'm fairly sure the next anthology announcement will/should be KENOBI.

Agreed. He's not even attempting to fit the role...and I think it makes his acting ability stand out more too?
There are also rumours that this is being buried in the aftermath of AVENGERS: IW (May 4th) because they know it's not great....but I'm not sure I buy that.
As long as they hit a nice heist vibe, and keep it Star Wars'y....this should have a healthy ROGUE ONE take at the box office. I doubt Alden's lack of Solo charisma will sink it if the movie itself rises above that.

It looks fun. Like QT said, an extended Rebels episode. He looks a bit too old to be a young Han, but they got that silhouette shot bang on. I guess if he acts it well the differences won't matter so much.
The Falcon is really interesting me; it doesn't have the space between the front grip loaders in that final sequence - like it's actually using them for cargo hauling. I hope that like Rogue One, it will show what can be done in the SW universe when the focus isn't on Jedi.

I merged it in with the older thread.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

RE: The Falcon. It's clearer on the posters that the "U" isn't there. So I think they are going for a "it's been scavenged over the years".
EDIT: Which is weird because the Falcon is in a shot of ATOC and the "U" is there...and this takes place after that....so.....weird. Probably a canon continuity error they are ignoring for story points?
