I don't know, I'd still argue that Vader, while not being pure, was only able to appear as force ghost at the end of rotj as a result of his sacrifice to save Luke. His intentions and actions then were 'purer' than anything he'd done before, even before he turned, when he wa mostly angry and self serving. The six films are all about his fall, and eventual redemption - in the original version of rotj, having him appear alongside yoda etc shortly after his death confirmed that he'd truly been returned from the dark side.
(Also, I always assumed that the title of the film did not just refer to Luke in that respect).

Having young Anakin there just appears to be the result of Lucas making another clumsy attempt to link the prequels into the ot. Imo anyway!

No. There's a good list somewhere of best order and which eps you can safely give a miss; mostly rare ones involving Padme/binks.

There are some good ones in season one, definitely, and some of the story arcs spanning several eps in the later seasons beat what was in the prequels, hands down.

*edit... Hah, just watched that youtube link. What he said! He sounds like me at work, trying to convince people that it's really worth a look. He also said what I've been saying for ages - after you watch CW Anakin, you start to forget about the whiny movie version.

Slow Ben, Here is the list Traveller is talking about. Spoilerd for size.

Spoiler

Highlighted eps are the ones you have to watch...the rest you can pick and choose. It even gives arcs that are not As Kickasss as the highlighted ones, for each season but still very, very good.

It's what I followed the first time I watched. And it won't lead you astray.

You should. I've now just finished the whole series for a 3rd time (I throw it on now when I'm just laying in bed before sleep and watch 2-3 eps a night). and it's even better on re-watches.

I still goddamn LOVE that lightsaber fight between Maul, Savage, and Palpatine. I WISH Palpatine's lightsaber fights in ROTS could have been nearly that good.

It's because the "movie" which was the first 3 eps I think technically, was considered "not good"...and the first season does feature a lot of kind of throwaway plot lines and not fully developed ideas...and the animation was only so-so in S1...and by the time S2 amped everything into the stratosphere....everyone who might have given it a shot assumed it was not worth it. I was one of them. I only started watching it when S4 was airing on TV...and only after seeing an ad on the cartoon network with a trailer that made me go "Holy fuck, is that actually that Clone Wars show?! That looks epic!"....and the rest is history.

But yeah. You're in for a treat!

I was initially put off as it was Clone Wars = prequels = awfulness.

Wasn't quite prepared for how good it turned out to be. Seriously, when you're in the middle of the Umbara arc, or Mandalore stuff, or the not too spoilerish to mention Palpatine-with-sabers scenes, you can't help but think, THIS is what the prequels should have been.

I think the movie which introduced Ashoka is a stand alone thing; it's not on my season 1 bluray.

Yep.

One of the main examples so far is Anakin. The Clone Wars Anakin makes me even more depressed about the Hayden clusterfuck portrayal of Anakin.

Yuuuuup.

In fact he's SO good, I wish the actor would be the one they use if they ever Force Ghost Anakin in the new films. He gave us an Anakin to not only root for, but full on get behind. No whiny, poorly acted, craziness...just straight up badass Jedi Knight looking out for his friends.

And when he calls out from behind Vader's mask in Rebels... chills!

I've always had trouble seeing Hayden in that suit, compounded by the weird shaped helmet they used at the end of rots.

But CW Anakin? Now he really could be Vader.

(All this has made me wish more than ever for a revised remake of the prequels - CWs cartoon style. Imagine Obi wan and Anakin fighting.. it would be awful to watch. It's those versions I was thinking of last time I watched Rots).

I can only find season 6 of CWs for the same price that I paid for the entire box set seasons 1-5, which is crazy as it seems to be 13 eps.

So I might just watch it online instead.

That's nutters!

Why don't you sign up for Netflix free first month (you will have to pay for at least one month after that at around $10ish) and then cancel. That would give you 2 months to watch all of S6, and then you can cancel the netflix account before the second (non free month) is up. For $10 (or whatever it costs for a month in your country.

:D

Though, I'd make sure it's available on your countries netflix (it should be, but you never know).

Article about the use of technology. I would guess it's because the original film set the theme and everything else since has had to work in with that, but it is interesting nonetheless.

I just saw it again at baby cinema. No new insights as I didn't really concentrate but I love Admiral Ackbar's species. They get things done.

Saw it. Really enjoyed.
Not worth overthinking - it was Star Wars, i was entertained, and my only real complaint is that once they bothered themselves to work in an appearance by Chopper from REBELS, he should have been in the process of massacreing a squad or two of Stormtroopers at the time.

If it helps, this is because The Chopper in the film is the one from the LFL Rebels Recon offices (the custom job one)...and thus not built for anything other than a pass by.

But yes, that would have been excellent!
