AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR AKA Thanos Comes to Town

Thanos is purple, not grey.
Most of the Thanos scenes in the trailer are on another planet (the one from the opening shot) where the sky is a weirdly lit reddish-orange, which tints him that strange colour that almost looks pink.
But make no mistake. He will be purple.

This would be the moment where I got the opposite pleasure of seeing a character, shrugging off Superman's punches and then whooping Superman's ass. Nothing gives me more pleasure then seeing people beating up that over-powered mary sue.
No really, think of this from Malazan angle. Here we have a Titan demi god absolutely sure of his power. What would happen if he stepped onto a Malazan world? How long would he survive?
He would be ambushed by the Deragoth, blasted in the face by Quick Ben's warrens, stabbed by Kalam and then blown up by a Cusser. And if some of him survived, Rake would show up with Dragnipur to mop up.
After reading Malazan I cannot look at super powerful villains without imagining them dying in hilarious ways.

He looks greyish blue to me. But then again I can't see purple, or light pink.

The thing is that with the exception of the not oft mentioned "wards", all the character's in Eriksons stories are squishy. You could kill Anomander Rake with an unguarded heart stab. You can blow a hole in a dragon with a cusser.
The Marvel Universe doesn't work like that. If you're invulnerable, you're (99,999%) invulnerable. Thanos would be the equivelant of an Armor-plated Jaghut Tyrant on the malazan planet. Special magical weapons, like Dragnipur or Burns Hammer could probably kill him but you have to avoid getting face blasted or telekinetically torn apart before that happens.

I saw it an I was super happy. I thought they were just going to ignore the spider sense. It's probably the most essential of Spider-man's ability's combined with his super agility.

So Thanos can take thor? Interesting. I consider Thor to be the superman of the Marvel universe. He comes across as there should not be anything that can stop him. Its amazing that characters like Thor, Hulk, superman etc can ever be interesting given the scope of their powers

Until they introduce Wonderman, I can see Thor being the Superman of MCU.
I think from Earth, the only 2 characters from the comics that can stand up to Thanos are The Phoenix and Franklin Richards. Don't think we'll be seeing either of them in a movie for a while.

Yep. And as much as Thor seems like the Superman allegory for Marvel...Wonderman is MUCH more the Superman clone with abilities/powers that line up with Superman.

Off the top of my head you might also be able to pit the likes of Molecule Man, Sentry and Adam Warlock(?) against him, all though I only think Sentry really has a chance and at that point you might as well just trigger a super nova instead.

Couldn't the Hulk be enough to defeat Thanos if he gets angry enough? Of course at that point probably no one wins. In other words, the colloateral damage would be astronomical.
I remember when me and a buddy were in a comic book store flipping through issues and having this argument about Hulk and Thor and who would ultimately win when an aging hippy comic nerd overheard us and chimed in with "Hulk, if angry enough, can punch out whole dimensions".

Thanos has repeatedly beaten Hulk in the comics over the years. So no.

What about Black Bolt / Dazzler combo? Turning sound that can level mountains into pure energy? Talking about the Marvel comic universe here because X-Men are not in the same universe in movie world, right?
[EDIT] oh, and also, Dr. Doom. Doesn't Dr. Doom have the gusto to get the job done? Of course, him winning would probably not be good for the earth at large.

No Ant-Man visible in that trailer, or was it just me? (I mentioned this to my 8-yr-old daughter, then said it would be hilarious if he wasn't there because he was squirreled away inside the Infinity Gauntlet, and then at the end when all the gems have been inserted, Ant-Man pops out and steals the Gauntlet. Kaylee thought that was hilarious.)
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Don't know if Dazzler got an upgrade at some point but 80s dazzler could barely fight her way out of a paper bag, let alone register as a bleep on a power scale. If she tried channelling Black Bolt's power I imagine she'd disintegrate.
Doctor Doom is strong but he's more like a very selfish Tony Stark mixed with a sinister Dr. Strange. He's powerful but no where near Thanos level. Like Stark or Reed Richards, his real power is his intellect and willpower.
Now as for Black Bolt. Black Bolt is ridiculously strong. Like world shattering strength.
This is what happened when he fought Thanos during that end of worlds thing they did some years ago (mind you, the writers wrote Black Bolt pretty weak in this fight):

Thanos has literally been killed by an unguarded heart stab (well, heart grab) before.

The thing is though that when they're in a superhero universe they're no longer overpowered, because there's lots of them about. I've never understood that particular criticism of Superman for example, that he's boring because he's powerful. He isn't, on paper, even the most powerful member of the regular Justice League (that's Martian Manhunter, though obviously he's not in the movie version, or the Flash) and there are a few villains who can kick his arse. When he's protected, it's because of plot armour and bad writing, not the scope of his powers as such (Superman should never ever be able to beat Darkseid in a straight arse-kicking contest for example, but it's happened, more than once. Too many writers, including, sadly, the otherwise really good Geoff Johns, currently setting the course of the DCEU, don't really get how to use Darkseid).
Same goes for Thor. Lots of people who can take him- some always, some on a good day.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.
