These are pretty solid choices. Freya especially seems to look the part of Ciri as she looks when she and Geralt are first working together when she's 13-14 (actress is 17 I believe), and Anya works for Yennefer as well, since she makes herself look about 20 in the books, and the actress is 22. Hopefully they play off Cavill well (who, by the way I like a lot for Geralt)

I know her part will be minimal, but I still kind of hope they cast and utilize Triss. She's not been in the glut of recent actor announcements though, so perhaps not.

There are still a lot of characters missing, so I wouldn't lead my hopes down. And they have cast other members of the lodge :)

I think he looks great to be honest. He had about as much chance of being heavily scarred as TV Tyrion Lannister did missing a chunk of his face including his nose.

I don't play the games, and only read the books, so for me he looks like a great Geralt!

Scarring is quite a bit easier to pull off then removing a chunk (or completely removing) someone's nose as it relates to Hollywood makeup. Just sayin'. Posted Image Also, the actor or actress keeps more of the integrity of their "head shot" good looks for the most part. So to equate pulling off how Geralt looks with how Tyrion Lannister looks is a bogus argument.

Yeah, that's fair. I hope he has some stubble in the actual show, but I don't mind a lack of scarring if we are starting earlier in his life like the books do (which seems to be be the case, indicative of the youth of the female leads who were cast)

Also, they cast Triss! Anna Shaffer (she played Romilda Vane in the last few HP movies, she was good in those). This makes me happy as I like Triss's character, so glad to see she was included.

In the books, Geralt much prefers being clean shaven and only goes to stubble as a last resort. The games decided to go after a certain look in the interests of coolness.

I think the wig is terrible though, even for an initial look.

The trials endured to become a Witcher would definitely cause scarring (along with white hair). So the argument that the series is starting earlier in his life means Geralt would have no scarring at all doesn't hold any water, imo.

That aside, I don't mind the casting considering that for now we've mostly seen the actors without the proper costumes and make up, which can do a lot. The one exception being the actress cast for Fringilla, because yeah, her defining characteristic in the books as well as the reason Geralt cares about her one dot is that she looks like Yennefer, which no make up in the world is going to change in that casting choice. Casting a black actress for any other of the Lodge sorceresses wouldn't have raised brows, but it has to be the one whose looks do play a role :(

Edit to say I wouldn't even have minded an Asian actress as Ciri, they'd have to give her very ashen blonde hair either way. What I AM a bit miffed about is that there's so far no slavic actor/actress cast for any role, what with so much of the story being based on slavic folklore? Where is MY representation, eh?

So, knowing absolutely nothing about the Witcher, where's the best place to start?

Stunt armour for background performers.

Ok, latest images look better. I would still need to see a trailer that would convince me well enough to give it a chance.

A bunch of morons are up in arms about the casting in this show. The women are a little too non-Caucasian looking for the racist troglodytes of the internet.

They are indeed Caucasian women though right.
