*narrows eyes* Suuuuuure. LOL

It WOULD have been really cool if Ubi put some AssCreed Easter eggs into Primal, to actually start creating one meta-universe that their critics accuse them all of making, gameplay-wise.

But, yeah, I don't think they actually did that.

Actually, I think they did - iirc there was some comment about all Assassins being descended from the hunters in Primal - thus the similarity between the hunting vision crap and eagle vision. >.>

I can imagine those creative meetings, where it's the end of the day and everyone is tired and spit balling ideas:

"What if Shrek's girlfriend and the Jolly Green Giant bumped uglies?"
"And she gave birth to this monstrosity?"
"Dude, I think that could work!"

I've guarded optimism about it after watching the trailer <<<<< see what I did there. Posted ImagePosted Image

Quote

Need for speed, One of the world's bestselling video game franchises, returns with a vengeance in the new action-driving blockbuster need for speed payback. Set in the Underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your Crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against the House, a nefarious cartel that rules the City's Casino, criminals, and cops. In this corrupt gambler's paradise, the stakes are high and the House always wins. Play a variety of challenges and events as tyler, the racer; Mac, the showman, and jess, the wheelman. Each driver must take on races, missions, and challenges to earn the respect of the valley's underground and compete in the Ultimate race to finally take down the House. From insane Heist missions to devastating car battles to jaw cropping set piece moments, need for speed payback delivers an edge-of-your-seat, action-driving fantasy.

I liked NFS 2015 a lot, so this should be good.

Extinction looks like it might be a bit like that Attack on Titan game that released a little while back. Iron Galaxy - aren't they the guys who work on Killer Instinct? They generally work on aspects of other developers' games. I think their biggest solely-developed game before this was Divekick!

Scorpio leaks!

https://rectifygamin...with-4k-recore/

https://twitter.com/RectifyGaming

The site is being crushed by the internet but they claim that X-Box Scorpio is going to be called X-Box One X and it will be priced at 450 USD.

I don't like the name, just called it Scorpio it's an excellent name. I also think 450 sounds surprisingly low. Maybe they're taking a loss to stay competitive with Sony.

I hope they don't show anything more about The Last of Us 2 until they are getting closer to release which is probably still several years away.

Anyway, new Vampyr cinematic trailer dropped:

I'm tentatively excited for this. I did not like Remember Me but I loved Life is Strange. Hopefully they've crafted a game that has more fun gameplay and combat systems than Remember Me.

On a side note, I am surprised by how little news and fanfare we've seen these past weeks. We're 4 days away from conference day and yet there's been nothing like the constant wave of trailers and leaks we saw the past two years.

Do you think this means we're in for a leaner release roster the next year or so? Or are the publishers just keeping things close to their chest this year?

It'd actually be nice if we got some genuine surprises out of an E3, so I'm hoping it's the latter.

More than likely though, we're just going to be a bit short on big releases - functionally it seems like we're midway through the current gen lifecycle, which means a lull in development until people figure out where Scorpio will actually sit in the ecosystem, and how likely it is to draw out the life of this gen, given how underpowered the consoles were to begin with. But, one can hope.

I liked this trailer, it did a better job of getting my interest than the gameplay has so far.

This looks like they're throwing any pretence of being canonical out the window.

Giant Bomb typically hosts two streams. One that is the raw unfiltered show and the other is them commenting over it. I like to listen to various panels doing play by play commentary but I typically prefer to watch the conferences unfiltered first time around.

Youtube usually does a livestream. So does Twitch.

If you want to keep up on any changes or developments during the day I recommend visiting reddit's r/games or Neogaf. They typically always have a megathred on the day with all pertinent information related to the conferences and the show floor. Specifically links to various sites and their live streams, plus broadcasting schedules.

I can also recommend checking in on Giant Bomb during E3s evenings. They will invite tons of people from the games industry and media and chat with them about the show. You will get a varied mix of big industry names, random veteran developers, trending media personalities, etc. It's usually very laid back and fun, lots of alcohol, but often you also get some great quotes.

I hope we will get some surprises. That said I cant help but wonder if they have learnt to not promise games they cant deliver. They would only care if slipped release dates hurt sales but I wouldnt be suprised. We get so excited for something and than when it comes out only a year or more later I personally lose some excitement. If i can wait 18 months I can wait 24 and get it for less than half price.

Technically, the conferences start tomorrow for the North Americans. This fact's making me kinda happy, b/c it means I might get to actually watch some stuff live and not spend my after-work evenings catching up (also, since I won't be streaming entire E3 on my phone I shouldn't kill my data cap in 3 days this year).

In my random YouTube browsing of the past weeks, I heard mentions of rumours of a new Batman Arkham game, supposedly set a few years after Origins. That could be cool, if true.

EA conference starting in 90 minutes.

https://www.twitch.tv/ea

Here's what I think we're going to see:

About 50% sports related garbage.

Need For Speed 2017 gameplay

Battlefront 2 gameplay.

Teaser for the Story Driven Star Wars game Amy Heming jumped ship to work on. Probably coming out in 2018.

Teaser and maybe gameplay for Dragon Age 4.

Slight chance of teaser for that "Open World Action" game they headhunted some Ubisoft people for but I think that is a 2020 game.

Maybe a new Plants vs Zombies game. Garden Warfare 3 maybe?

And then some small indue games like Unravelled.
