Yawnnnnn....

Considering how much I actually liked D2 story this DLC is sooooooo underwhelming. This is some bad storytelling. I really hope the 2nd won’t be.

Whoever overseas story development and story cohesion should just be fired!

Is it even the same designers that did D1 raids? I don’t pay attention to that stuff but the one time I did VoG I actually had fun. That just looked like the designers were loln at players.

I would assume it's more to do with the short development time. People expecting incredibly complex and deep content drops every three months are unrealistic. I'm hardly Bungie's defender, but it's simply not possible. So they take shortcuts - raid lairs rather than raids, ornaments rather than new armour, guns returning from Destiny 1. They (or Activision) don't help themselves, however, by imposing such a release schedule, and then hyping the 'huge' changes before launch.

The problem they have is that players want more content. Unfortunately, the way they've interpreted this is, 'more activities, more frequent loot drops'. But this is not what most players mean. They mean, make the activities *which already exist* deeper and more meaningful. Give a sense of achievement to completing them for the hundredth time.

Bungie have released an apology for locking out previously available content and have promised to roll back these changes.

Interestingly, they have cancelled the planned Faction Rally this week, suggesting to me that the FR was also going to be locked behind DLC purchase.

Also interesting is the fact that there are reversing course. When they did the same thing during Destiny 1, they generally ignored the complaints or said something along the lines of, "there's nothing we can do". This suggests to me that D2's player base is smaller and shrinking, meaning they have less room to pull such moves. I might be wrong and it could just be this time they decided to listen (or Sony and Microsoft told them they cannot lock out achievements and forced them into a reverse).

Damn. A YouTuber who's bread and butter is Destiny content and who posts a video a day on various tips and strategies and Destiny related topics, just totally ripped Bungie and the new Osiris DLC a new one. He was not a happy camper. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on that garbage.

Which one? I know Byf and Datto and a bunch of others have been quietly critical of the base game so far, but I haven't seen any of their stuff on the Osiris DLC (which has a fucking short campaign and locks people out of end-game content who don't buy the DLC, in true hostage style), but I figured it wouldn't be a super-positive response.

His YouTube handle is Rifle Gaming.

Just read that Bungie has made Prometheus Lens available for purchase from Xur to temporarily address the ass kicking going on in the Crucible. So you can expect everyone to be running around with that gun in PvP until they fix it with a patch on Tuesday? Booooooooo! And what joy, yet another update to expect. I'm sure it will not be smaller then 1 gb.

It was super annoying when only a few people had it. But now...

It's probably the most fun I've had in Crucible! Practically everyone has one and it's just dumb, insane fun. I don't know what it is, but it's just made Crucible feel so relaxed when everyone knows there's nothing they can do but put on a stupidly silly laser light show. I'm finishing every match with 20+ kills.

There's something infectiously hilarious about seeing someone or you yourself burn to a crisp every five seconds.

I caved and bought the DLC...sigh. I'm a sucker.

Anyways, I FULLY agree with Khell...eveyrone basically having the Prometheus Lens in Crucible is basically like an amped up version of the ALL SUPERS ALL THE TIME mode in D1. With no one having any expectations of living for a long time, you're having a big old reduce everyone to ash laser dance party! It's fucking AMAZING.

I saw that coming, they been in panic mode/damage control since the XP throttle saw light.

Yup, and the player base is significantly reduced over D1. I've heard as much as 75% lower since launch but I'd have to check the figures so take that with a grain of salt. Though the time to matchmake in Crucible is long enough that I'd believe it, hah!

Honestly, while I approve of the move, I hope people don't forget this. It's a great opportunity to get them to commit to changes now, that might not happen after another six months and they're staring down the pipeline to D3.

Guys! Guys! Guys!

You can have snowball fights at the Farm! If you get hit with a snowball you have a "chilled to the bone / frostbite" effect that makes you slower for a little bit of time. Soooooo much fun!

Actually it is fun at first but the novelty wears out quickly.

Anybody know where you can play hockey? There's supposed to be a big hockey puck to knock around somewhere.

Ohhhhh! How fun! Bungie is launching a webcomic series for Destiny 2! Is this supposed to be D2's version of the grimoire cards?

Ok. Found giant hockey puck and rink. It's in the Tower (that's all I will say, you guys can find it).

Anyway, you can bomb the puck with snow balls too (along with kicking it) to move it around on the ice. Have you guys noticed that the snow ball throwing motion mimics the action of one of your supers?

You can spend up to $600 to avoid that problem though, so all good, right?

(or so I heard, I haven't actually looked into it)

Worst Dawning ever.

Everything is basically locked behind Eververse paywall.

And all the booger eaters are using Warlock in Mayhem with super glitch that has been discovered. Bungie won't be doing anything about it until after Jan. 1. So pretty much all of the Dawning is a throw away dumpster fire of a pile of shit.

Me and Jace are having so much fun in Mayhem. Best thing about this lackluster Dawning. The Eververse continues to be frustrating beyond belief even with the recent attention to it they still are going strong. I hate Nightstalkers so much in Mayhem... The shaders are pissing me off. They are not stacking beyond 5 so the already tight 50 slot max is that much tighter. Ugh not sure why it’s only doing 5 per slot.

I’m watching so many hate videos on YouTube the past month and I agree with so much that is being brought up. I’m not sure if I will continue on in yr 2 after next DLC if they don’t get back on track.

Where is Chroma? Please bring back random rolls on weapons!

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear that Bungie is scaling back plans for Year 2 (and beyond) at this point, due to dropping player base and negative feedback. It's their own fault, but they won't want to throw good money after bad for too long, especially if people are not going to actually fork over the full price of the not-season-pass DLC for Year 2. They'll be better off working on Destiny 3, from their perspective. Which at this point I am unlikely to buy either, unless they get their shit together and basically remove the cash store entirely as a goodwill gesture.

So Bungie have outlined their plans going forward after the recent spate of complaints about lack of endgame, minitransaction imbalance, story problems, pvp problems, etc. https://www.bungie.n...tail/News/46567

A lot of it is sadly vague one-liners with vague time goals, like Fall 2018 (presumably because they haven't yet actually worked out what they want to do or go about doing it), but there were a number of specifics. Some of these will come in the next update in late Jan/early Feb, others will come in with Season 3, which will be sometime in Spring/Summer.

- Faction Rally Jan 16, Iron Banner Jan 30. Both of these will now be available to everyone, not just those who purchased DLC (I still cannot believe and yet at the same time can completely believe based on past experience that they were going to close these behind a new paywall).
- Ghosts, Sparrows, and Ships will now (not now now, but when they next update) drop from gameplay and will not be just in Eververse.
- Crucible will get 6v6 matches as well as 4v4, like Destiny 1.
- Rankings in Crucible: two types, one based on matches played, the other on matches won. This will reset at the beginning of every season.
- Bright Engrams will somehow become easier to get - though they're not yet sure how.
- Masterwork Armour will enable you to reroll its functions and give added defence when you activate super.
- The Crimson Days event will get you a lot more Crimson Day engrams for playing the game than the Dawning event allowed, and will be 'heavily weighted' to getting you the stuff you don't already have.
- Raid armour and weapons will have raid-specific perks.
- Nightfall is going back to the way it was in D1 - no more timer, but scores instead.

In the more distant future, they will

- Put in private matches for pvp.
- Completely rework mods so that they have a much greater significance (they acknowledge this has the potential to create a pay-to-win problem with Eververse, however).
- Do something or other about the story content (this was extremely vaguely stated in terms of acknowledging complaints about Curse of Osiris) - it sounds like the next expansion is getting delayed to me.
- Collectibles and records are coming back.
- Increased vault space...by 50 slots (not nearly enough). Exotic ships, sparrows and ghosts will no longer count toward vault space - yeah, as if my problem was my overflowing abundance of these exotic items.
- Improve endgame...somehow.
- Improve weapons and armour...somehow.
- Rebalance XP gains...somehow.
- Do something about shaders.

Most interestingly, which few people seem to have picked up on, for Fall 2018 they mention they want to work on 'Weapon Slot and Archetype Improvements'. Now this could mean a lot of things, but I wonder if this hints at a reworking of the kinetic/energy/power weapon slots, which don't really work (it essentially renders sniper rifles and shotguns completely useless, and gives you two primary slots with hardly any difference between them). Going back to the D1 primary/secondary/heavy categories?

Basically Bungie have no idea what they're doing and are desperately trying to salvage the game.

Luke Smith needs to be removed from any creative decision-making capacity, stating. And whoever is in charge of the micro transactions needs to be told to turn them off.

Then they need to actually fucking commit to making content and write a coherent story for the full life of the game ahead of time.

But those things would require finding the right people to direct the game development and for Activision and the suits at Bungie who listen to them to actually stop trying to monetise the game and realise that it will pay for itself if they make a good game first instead of a cleverly disguised Skinner box. Which all seems very unlikely.

Bungie has so much goodwill to earn back. I like the 6v6 coming for Crucible, but it seems as if the initial changes are really just to move the cosmetic (ghosts, ships, sparrows, emotes) rewards from behind Eververse to completed activities. How about doing that for amour and weapons assholes. It just aint cutting it for me. Sure I'll probably check out the Valentine event (Crimson Days?), but based on that update from Bungie, I have no strong need to play, tbh.

My friend and I who sunk more than 2000 hours into Destiny 1 have completely stopped playing, basically 3 months from launch. They have to do so much to get us back. And I believe that a lot of those changes are significantly fundamental parts of the game as to make it an insurmountable task. I'm talking an endgame that isn't just trying to squeeze out better RNG, for starters. So many of D1's basic problems carried over to D2, that the added frustrations like Eververse, content paywalls, worse PvP, and a truly baffling decision to make Snipers and Shotguns all but irrelevant to PvE play has compounded to the point where I'm not sure I'll be a regular player again, no matter what shifts they make to address ethical fuckups like Eververse, or added 5 hour blocks of story content even if it were to be Bungie A-grade. They need to address the fact that the game is boring at end game and the only reason people play it is to raise their light level (wait, that's Power now, isn't it?) and round out their Exotic collection and, frankly, that's not good enough in a game with such a shallow loot pool and frustratingly limited cosmetic options once you get locked into Legendary gear. It would be manageable if the Nightfall wasn't the same two Strikes on a fortnightly rotation, if there weren't only one real Raid and a "jumping in a line like children" puzzle Raid, and if the story content were replayable in some meaningful way, and if there were actually some variation in the worldspaces to make Patrol viable, and if the PvP stopped being such a boring morass that the fanbase rejoiced at the introduction of a truly broken laser pointer into the mix.

Basically; I'm frustrated with Bungie. And the shady as fuck monetisation stuff isn't helping. I'm pretty much at the point where Bungie doesn't get any more respect from me - that Bungie has long since left the building. :)

Crimson Days valentine's event goes live next Tuesday (Feb. 13) and lasts a week.

I haven't played D2 since around Christmas (during that shit pile Bungie gave us called The Dawning), but I think I'm going to at least check this out.

- There will be a 2v2 Clash that seems interesting. Awww, aint it just the cutest thing? You and your lover against two other love birds, stay near each other you two kissypoos so your abilities recharge faster, you sly dogs you. Stray too far from your sexy lover and your enemies will be able to see you on the map.

- Also a new map.

- And supposedly they learned from the festering garbage heap that was The Dawning and fixed how you get rewarded in this one. In other words, everything isn't behind that shit concept Eververse pay for it bullshit.

Now, I'm not saying this is going to keep me interested in D2, but it's just enough to at least get me to put the disc in my console and poke around in the world again.

[EDIT] Here's news of event link: https://www.bungie.n...tail/News/46617

Awww. The Farm looks really good with this event. The Tower not so much. If you take your date to The Farm you better have a box of condoms with you because you're gonna get some.

Anyway, played four matches of the doubles Crucible matches. Won every one of them and had to carry my team mate every time except for once (rounds where I would have 7 kills and my team mate only 1 or 0). The one time me and my team mate were evenly matched we totally shit all over the competition. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. It came down to who could get to their spawn quicker to rack up the kills.

Got bored and quit. For my efforts I got an exotic Sparrow, some Crimson Days themed shaders and a bunch of other crap I didn't need. Might log in one more time. But, yeah, this isn't doing enough for me to keep me engaged all that much. Other then the beautiful Farm and the 2v2 (which gets old) not much else to pull me in.
