Ah you're further on than me in the main story now, I haven't seen a Deathbringer yet, name like that I can't wait :p

I have only done Cauldron Rho, Sigma and Xi so far. I'm guessing Zeta is the most northern of the cauldrons, I'll be getting to that soon, though possibly after I move the story on.

Spoiler

For some reason I couldn't edit that bit into spoilers in the previous comment, no idea why. Spoilering just to be careful really, not sure it really needs it. Just something I found on my travels north.

EDIT: Holy mother of god, just about to try the Ravager on Thunderjaw trial for the first time Trav, but by god the one before that I just did to kill the ravagers with the disclauncher! Took me like 50 tries! Even then I only got it with 1 second to spare!!! That would be so much easier if you could just override the Thunderjaw and have it kill them for you - I'm guessing the last cauldron will allow that - instead I had to try and take them out while the Thunderjaw was attacking me! Just one more trial left for all 15 blazing suns, here goes :p

The ruins up north among the machine coils BK described are next on my main mission list.

But it's way back across the map, I'm going to clear the last of the western side and do some more Meridian quests first.

I can get the weapon easily enough on that trial, it's surviving the following two minutes I have trouble with!

I'll leave the trials for now, I'm getting the most out of exploring at the moment - creeping into Makers End through the fog was awesome.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I'm sorry to tell you this. But you can. If you override the thunderjaw all its attacks count as if they were disclaunchrr attacks.

Mine says 47%, level 30 at 40 hours. Just got final tallneck.

Interesting what different games we're having. Not good/bad but what hours we put into what, and how much time we actually have to play.

Off to take on a sidequest Thunderjaw. My Silent Hunter outfit now has 122 stealth - I hadn't appreciated how much I was being ignored until I changed it for the protector. It's like the Fog Ring in DS.

Edit ok so tearblast to side plate, the triple arrows to heart.

I haven't even got to the Maker's End main quest yet, clocked about 52 hours (though it's probably more like 48 or so if you take away the time I've just left it on because the TV is being used) I'm level 47 and my game completion says 81%! I have 2 Corrupted Zones and 1 Bandit Camp left, plus 1 flower, 2 Vantages and I think 3-4 vessels. Finished all the Cauldrons, Tallnecks and Hunting Grounds and done aloooot of sidequesting/errands and such. When I do get back on it - couldn't play today, probably not tomorrow either, unless I play through the night, which I've been doing too much with this game - I'ma head out west to a settlement on the map I haven't been to that I'm assuming is Sunfall, where I expect there'll be some more sidequests in which to partake. I'll finish the collecting when I - eventually - get to Maker's End, as one of the vessels is located right next to the quest marker.

Stormbirds are soooo annoying BK, I feel you. If you can neuter there electric attacks and ground them with Tearblast arrows they become easier to deal with, but damn if they're not giant, more annying Glinthawks!! As for Thunderjaws - and yeah Cause, I realised afterwards I could've just used the override on the Thunderjaw to make my life alot easier in that trial, if I had it at the time :p - I find the best way to deal with them is to pepper them with Tearblast arrows until you run out, trying to hit all the dangerous parts - disclauncher, cannon, tail etc - before switching to the War Bow and freezing them. While they're frozen use the ropecaster to bring them down and use Hardpoint arrows to their exposed and frozen heart. You can do the freezing and the roping either way around tbh, with all 40%+ damage mods my Hardpoint arrows do almost 700 damage a hit in that scenario.

Trav, yeah the stealth armour makes you sooo much harder to see, honestly I've started wearing it almost exclusively, only switching to protector against Thunderjaws and massive ganksquads. Also Trav, I'll spoiler this question - about the Thunderjaw sidequest - for anyone who doesn't want to know.

Ah, I haven't seen any other Thunderjaw's in any other sidequests so I just assumed.

Spoiler

Ah that makes me want to get to Sunfall even more now, sounds amazing, probably going to end up playing tonight even though I shouldn't lol Really can't wait till I get to Maker's End either, loving reading the datapoints I find. I've still found so few of the world one's though, really starting to wonder where they can all be hiding!

So Redmaw is still out there!

Yeah I saw the forcefield at zeta, assumed the way in was on the hillside above the door, so worked my way round and up. There were bandits fighting a behemoth, and a stalker further up, but I didn't see a way in.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Naw, if you've made it to the forcefield then you've gone past the pillar of rock you can climb, there's a watcher prowling above and to the left, right near the entrance.

Yeah Redmaw still lives! :p

I'm pretty sure I know which two machines they must be, based on your progression. I still haven't seen 1, which I know Traveller has seen. The other one you haven't seen will be wicked when you do :p

It's not too bad, it's not very mobile!

And Redmaw is just its name, not machine type.

Wait til you find out what a

is.

Wandering along, minding my own business, and happened upon two corrupted Rockbreakers. Rode a bit past them, jumped off my mount and headed back to fight them. Midway through the fight my mount gets attacked by a Behemoth which then proceeds to attack me from behind mid-Rockbreaker-battle. There were rocks flying at me from every direction.

Then, finally having beaten the three of them, I went round the next corner and found three Snapmaws, five Tramplers and a Ravager. I overrode one of the Snapmaws as a decoy and sneaked into cover, turned around and watched a massive battle ensue, with a couple of Longlegs joining in for good measure. Carried on to my destination without a scratch.

There are some nice little touches too. I knocked the container off a shell walker from cover, thinking I could just loot without a fight. But after a minute or two he came back, picked it right up and fitted it back on!

Also surprised me the first time a glinthawk grabbed the body of one I'd killed and flew off with it...

That's impressive! Defeating those 2 rock breakers was one of the hardest fights!

Those 2 corrupted Rockbreakers are definitely the hardest fight I've had so far! In fact, apart from overzealous jumping causing me to plummet to my death a few times and trying to use the Thunderjaw's Disclauncher on Ravager's while it attacked me, they are the only thing that has caused a gameover for me. They killed me twice before I got them, I went into the fight with very little healing items as well, so I had to roll for dear life. Freezing them when they jump up and start spitting rocks at you is a good strategy, when frozen you can do serious damage to their vulnerable parts with Hardpoint arrows. Not sure how I'd have done it if a Behemoth got involved as well, would probably have needed to make a trip for healing items tbh. Those corrupted versions are definitely more aggressive than the normal version I'd come across before, the pop-up attack like a game of whack-a-mole was used so often, hard to even get damage in.

That second fight sounds amazing though, really brilliant :p Love the override on certain enemies, anyone managed to override a Stalker and send it into a group of enemies yet? They are very difficult to sneak up on, even with great sneak, those sensors are impossible to get around when you're close!
