I'm a little disappointed with enemy humans. They are pretty fucking dumb. I was expecting a bigger challenge from them.

That's a good shout on the real world locale.

Got my blazing suns on the Carja Tripcaster trial, got 17'500 XP plus a skill point for blazing suns on all 3 trials!

Yeah, I thought the same about the human enemies so far as well. Out of interest what difficulty you playing on? I'm on Normal, considering bumping it up.

Hope your headache clears quickly btw.

Yeah I can defo see how that focus light could be nasty for a headache.

I was clearing out a bandit camp and I literally run in a circle around a bandit before they noticed and attacked. Best/worst thing about it? Enemy was a Sniper! lol

Was that the one in the trees with no structures or anything on the ground?

Sometimes difficult to find the first yellow handholds but once up the view is great.

I climbed a mountain. The view over the other side was amazing - I can even see something very large in the sky circling a tower...

Just had my first encounter with a Snapmaw. Triple Shot came in handy.

Does that automatically use 3 arrows for every shot?

No, you have to press R1 twice whilst aiming, so it's great for doing heavy damage with the first shot or two from stealth. You can pre-load the arrows, though.

I wondered that, too.

Has anyone had to climb more than one Tallneck yet?

ETA: and are there any bows that do freeze damage? So far I've only seen slings that do it, as far as ranged weapons go.

I've got a coil for the bow that does freeze damage.

If you're interested in the metal ring, I checked it out before I got the quest and couldn't get in - it becomes accessible once the quest is started though. And it is

Actually no that one didn't take me all that long really, I was searching around in the trees, thinking that if I had to find just one tree and climb it this could take forever, then I saw the vantage as I was circling back round. You'r actually higher than it at the top of the hill. Nah, it was the one in the ruins, took me an age to actually find the telltale yellow markings!

Reached level 19 last night, killed my first Shell-Walker, Fire Bellowback and Stalker and cleared out Cauldron Sigma (anyone else feel like they just entered whole other game when they went into their first cauldron?). Actually got into a fight with 5 Shell-Walkers at the same time after I left the Cauldron, managed to take them all down, Carja+Tearblast makes short work of their components - especially since I now have two V.Rare mods, one for 37% damage, the other for 36% Tear. On my way to the Valleymeet hunting grounds when I turned it off, see about getting myself some more blazing suns :cat:

I've actually seen a marker (as yet undiscovered) on the map that looks like it could be representative of something that can fly!

EDIT: Filled out my forager skills as well, going to work towards Trip arrows now I reckon.

Yeah. They're annoying :cat:

I went and found my second Tallneck this morning. Then I spent about ten minutes sniping enemies whilst still on top of the Tallneck :p

I got all 3 blazing suns at Valleymeet, took me awhile to work out why my tearblast arrows weren't removing the cannister from the Bellowbacks, turns out the y only poke out a tiny bit before you destroy any of their plating. Timing is tight so you have to remove them in one go, when I eventually got it I did it in 29 seconds. You get 17'500 XP for each blazing sun at Valleymeet, 52'000 XP, I went up 3 levels - plus the skill point for getting all blazing suns. Was well worth it.

Figuring I should do Revenge main mission before I move much further west to the Daytower now.

Made it though the first section, which culminated in the first Sawtooth takedown utilizing the trapgun thingie. That as a damned cool and fun section. LOVE when you combine stealth with fighting in games.

I really hate that weapon

It's not exactly the most accurate thing. LOL!

What, the tripwire gun?

I use it loads... even while running away I can turn and stick one across their path to leave them sparking in a heap and waiting for a strike attack.

I'm in the middle of my second cauldron. Had to leave it for now though for nightshift. Damn work!

Can you see them on the map? Usually once you're in the close vicinity you can scan - look for a purple glow/crate, that's where the vantage point is.

There aren't loads of them though, I've only found three or four.

Sorry BK I thought you had all the maps; that vendor is there early on, I bought them all a while back. No wonder you were getting pissed!

Just finished! What a game. I dont want it to end.

I think the brilliance of the game is just how little they hold your hand. Its not a dark soul game or anything but they give you the tools and that is it. Its up to you to figure out how they are meant to be used. Took me probably over 8 hours before I realized how element attacks really worked.

Now when I demolish a thunder jaw in 5 seconds flat I am embarrassed to remember how I used to fight them, Oddly the machine I hate the most is glinthawks.

That said I still find no use for the tripcaster or traps in general. Never used a resistance potion yet! Items with the right modifications can almost make you immune to each damage type anyway.

I'm starting to get very pissed off. Either there are actually very few vantage pts or I'm just an unobservant motherfucker not seeing climb notches. I'd rather not look them up but I'm starting to get hot about it.

Normal. It's just a bummer about them. They look right you and don't react and basically just stand there letting you get headshots. I have to say it's my only grumble about HZD in close to 39 playtime hrs.

Thanks. Focus view was getting to me so I just have to rest a bit.

How can you tell how long you have been playing. I like to keep track wherever possible

Ran back past the place where I killed the Thunderjaw last night. It had re-spawned (of course) and it was fighting with something. Got closer for a look and there were a bunch of Carja warriors attacking it - that was kind of cool Posted Image

Yeah I had a nightshift followed by kids all day. Had a good catch-up last though, completed 2nd cauldron, cleared a bandit camp, and got the tinker perk along with the shadow sharpshot bow and shadow hunter bow - so I was able to remove the coils from the other weapons and reuse them. Also I now have Harvest arrows.

Now I have to decide what skill to choose next - double arrows or the final upgrade to the critical strike, which will be great for the downed ones.

Oh and I just discovered the weapon tutorial menu - you can get a bunch of experience for doing things that you've already been doing for ages, like knocking off components and plates or tripping machines. Had fun trying to tie down some glinthawks with the ropecaster! I should really start investing in the medicine skills, I keep running out.
