I got a switch for Christmas, it’s wonderful. Zelda is awesome, I haven’t even touched Mario yet. Getting the pro controller makes a huge difference. I’m still not convinced the library is going to be big enough for what I like to play, but I hope they keep up the good work.

We need a new Mario party and f-zero game. They also need to make old nes games and snes too available online to buy. I would drop stupid money to be able to rock some snes on the go.

Buy a game controller for your phone, install free snes emulator on phone.

But Cause, that would be piracy? You wouldn't download a car would you?

I would download a bugati so fast! And I would make sure to rip the 'you wouldn't steal a car part' right out of the file so I don't need to watch it.

My understanding is that the emulator itself is legal to use and own and that (depending on where you live) the games are no longer protected by law, you can play the back ups as long as you own the physical copy (its fair use) or otherwise simple expedience in this regard, that their is no other way to play them on the move, or sometimes at all anymore means that you shouldn't worry to much anyway,

Anyway don't want to cross the line of the forums policy of discussing piracy or anything but Id argue that emulating snes games or older harms no one,

I don't own a Switch yet, but this is one of the craziest coolest things I've seen in gaming lately. If I was a kid I would want these immediately and have so much fun. Depending on the games, the adult me isn't too far behind on that.

The variety pack is $70 and the robot one is $80 (both w/ games). Those are Nintendo prices for sure, not gonna argue. But it looks pretty heavy duty to me. Cardboard can be TOUGH stuff. It's not gonna last forever like your plastic stuff, probably, but like a 10 year old and up should know how to take care of their stuff.

Being released on 4/20 too. Whoa dude. I like, know how I'm spending my 4/20. Couch, bong rips, Funyuns, Mt. Dew, and this.

I think they look cool but not for me. If my kid was a bit older I’d be into it.

I think the LABO stuff is brilliant. Although I do wonder why there isn't just a plastic version of the different LABO versions. I bet there are third party companies working on that idea. I guess there might be money to made on replacement cardboard?

From what I heard on a recent Giant Bomb podcast apparently cardboard craft toys is something that is hot among kids right now, so that might be part of why Nintendo is doing this. They do still style themselves as a toy company.

On a side note, why the god damn fuck have Nintendo STILL not announced anything about the Virtual Console or that subscription for online/old games they mentioned before launch? I bought my Switch for two reasons. I wanted to play Zelda and I wanted to play old SNES games and Mario 2D platformers. So far I've played Zelda and Golf Story and that is it! Come on. I just want to play Super Mario World!

Probably because the SNES Classic is still a hot item? They'll wait for it to be old news before they do anything new regarding old stuff probably.

Yeah. I have the same suspicion. And of course it makes sense. They are in no hurry, they know the market is there for the online store now or next year.

Question is if they relaunch the NES and SNES classics again this fall or maybe jump to N64?

What ever they chose all I want to do is give them my money!

FINALLY

Nintendo Online and Classic Selection launching in September 2018:

https://www.nintendo...online-service/

Still no news about how Classic Selection functions though. It sounds like they are rotating games on the service. But does that mean that if say you've selected Super Mario World, have it downloaded, and it gets removed in a later month, you lose access? Or is it like PS+ and you always have access to games you have downloaded during the month?

Well how is Online? Can you download Wii&U games with it?

Online works fine for the games that use it for multi-player and to download games bought online.

Wii U games are not playable on this, but some games have been ported and some simultaneously released for both platforms.

The classic thing Apt talks about above is the older games thing that everyone is waiting for. It might be amazing, it might be frustrating, we don't know.

I do very much enjoy my Switch though.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Do I want/need a switch?

Ill be in japan next month which would allow me to save 100$ on a switch if I bought it in japan. Are Nintendo warranties international?

The switch seems like a great console. Ill want one one day. Is that day today. Partly I have held of so far because of price but also because I feel confident Nintendo will release a switch 3d, New Switch or Switch XL or whatever update they think best eventually. The upgraded consoles besides being better are almost always cheaper or the same price as the old ones. Should I wait?

Are there enough games to justify owning one? I want Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids and Bayonetta 2 (3 eventually). There are non exclusives id play but I won a PS4 and a PC so not sure if I need a switch to play valkyria chronicles 4 for example. Will there be a lot more great Nintendo exclusives?

Do I have enough free time for another console? I suppose only I can answer this one.

I do sort of collect consoles in that I have had one of each since the ps3. I bought a 3DS for 30 dollars for example partly just to own one. Though I did enjoy Mario kart, Mario etc

Sorry, kinda felt like that post was rhetorical when I first read it in that a lot of this questions are ones only you can answer.

But I'll say this - the switch is more like the Wii than the 3ds. So I kinda doubt we'll see the same pattern of "updated version for the same price" as with the handhelds. More likely an 'S' version ala the One or PS4, if anything.

Nintendo has a great stable of first party franchises and between the success of the Switch, Zelda, and Mario so far I don't see them holding back on the hits over the next couple of years.

But like most consoles the most economical time to buy it will be in a year or two when it's cheaper and the big games have been released and are on sale. The real question is whether you want to wait that long or not.

Also, I'm pretty sure the games might be region locked so I would recommend googling that as I know the cartridges for the 3ds are.

Like Silencer said, a lot of these questions are down to your own preferences,

Will there be great Nintendo Exclusives? Of course. If there's one thing you can always trust, it's that Nintendo's console will have killer exclusives.

As for anything more than that it really depends on how you play and what you play besides Nintendo games. Do you want to take your games with you, for example on the commute? Then it's great. Do you like lots of indie games and smaller titles and don't care what platform to get them on? Then Switch will also be great. Everything seems to migrating to Switch.

Personally I have yet to buy anything but Zelda and Golf Story for the damn thing. I tend to not buy a game unless it drops below 200'ish kroner and Nintendo is very strict about price drops, What I am really waiting for is that damn Online service,

All I need is to play Super Mario World and I will be happy.

(Also I really want to play Captain Toad)

Oh ho ho, did some digging on the national library network and found out there are two counties in Denmark that have a Nintendo Switch library. Why Copenhagen doesn't have a Switch library I don't get, we're by far the biggest network of libraries in the Country. Then again, knowing how small the actual Switch cartridges are, I imagine there's some old librarian in the procurement group who just doesn't want the hassle of having to figure out how to avoid kids losing a 1000 kr investment in a video game.

Ordered Mario+Rabbids, Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2. No sign of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Bayonetta 2 though, which is a shame.

Seems there's a lot of interest in the games as well. I am like 16th in line for Mario Odyssey.
