I'm not following the football these days but Mr PigDog indulges in his Sky Sports obsession often. Sat here listening to Jamie Carragher shred Utd in the post-match analysis and it's making me mad. Any accent but that one for that result.

Jamie Carragher is the worst. He's part of the broadcast team who cover the UEFA Champions League here in the States. They screw around and joke more then they offer insightful analysis about the teams and upcoming matches. There is, like clockwork about 1/3rd of the way through the pre-match hour coverage, where they roll out past highlights of Carragher's playing days, in which Micah Richards (who's almost as bad) chimes in and gives him shit for some aspect of his form in those highlights. UEFA Champions League coverage has been such a mess here in America. It started on Fox Sports, which was really good. Then it moved to something called DAZN, which I think is a streaming service, but they used to air the big matches on some of the linear cable networks (e.g. USA Network I think) and now CBS Sports has UCL, and they are traaaaaaaaaash!

Shocker, Ukraine squeezed into a play-off spot for World cup qualifiers. More nerve-wracking games to follow for me.

So who is the unlucky S.O.B. that will step into the breach @ Man U?

Already hearing rumours of Zidane but who knows. The deeper problem remains with the ownership so I fear this will just perpetuate the issues rather than fix them.

UA got a relatively easy playoff, with Scotland as our first game. Not so confident about beating Wales, but we should have decent chances.
Honestly, I wanted Portugal as our draw since we play well against them, but not after they got stuck with Italy in Path C. That one's gonna be messy.
Poland should beat Russia. Can the Czechs upset Sweden?

Pfff, overjoyed that we (Netherlands) managed to get top spot in our group on the final day. Otherwise we'd be there instead of Turkey.

Messi wins his seventh Ballon d'Or for finally winning something with his NT, despite being Argentina's least influential player during the Copa America.

They'll be fun when both Messi and Ronaldo retire as they'll have to actually think about it for once.
Also Zlatan should have won it way more

Suarez over Zlatan 100%.
Messi didn't deserve it this year or last year imo.
It'll be hard for anyone to achieve it playing in England though.
I want a fan of the Jorginho campaign either. He came third which was obsurd.
All because Italy did well and Chelsea won CL.
Messi has won it in years were there was no CL win or International win.
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

What the hell?! Women's World Cup qualifying, England 20 - nil over Latvia. At what point are these matches even useful or warranted? I know there is a WC qualifying process, but that match is unnecessary, yeah?

Luis Suarez may be mildly talented, but he needs one of those masks like they put on Hannibal Lecter. Filthy biting scumbag.

If Suarez hadn't had the whole Evra and biting incidents he would have won it no problems. He tore the PL apart in a way no player has since.
he got 31 goals in a season and WASN'T taking any penalties, Gerrard bagged 10 pens that season for what its worth. Suarez's antics ensured he would never win it, but ability wise for 2 seasons with Liverpool at least he was the best player on the planet.
Jorginho in there was a joke, yes yes I'm a liverpool fan but how Mo wasn't higher...
of the 12? they have won between them I'd say about 7/8 of the Ronmessi duo were justified, the rest were just because its them.

Messi winning this year is ridiculous. It should have been Salah or Haaland maybe.
And Arsenal managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again, so we must be caught in some kind of groundhog day-like loop

The goals were a great measure of Suarez shredding the league, yet they don't encompass just how good he was that year. I've not really seen someone hit/handle the ball as beautifully and so well placed over a full season as he did for passing, crossing, or even to set up his own chances. His runs were stellar, his pressing was very good for a forward, and it just worked. And then he bit people and was a total ass.
I don't think Messi ever put together a season where he was that good off ball or crossing as Suarez did that year. Passing and scoring, he created many seasons like that or better.
Zlatan has never deserved a Ballon d'Or. I like him as a player and occasionally as a personality - to the point where I bought a Swedish Zlatan jersey for my brother - but this is the truth.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Agreed on Zlatan, never did enough consistently to ever get it. Individual brilliance undoubtedly, but never had the drive, if he had had Ronaldos drive then yes he probably would have been in contention.
Regards Suarez, totally agree, Sturridge banged in I think 20+ that season too, nearly all off the back of Suarez's play. He was just another level.
Sidebar anecdote, I was at the Norwich game where he fired in 4. 4 completely different goals too, just a phenom to watch play

Like I said, don't care if he was Jesus made manifest on the field, he's a complete c**t and deserves to get flogged up and down the street every day. Walking piece of shit.
