You should get an exocraft.
I would if I could But I don't think I'm anywhere close to that quest step yet.
I'm hoping someone else will build an exocraft bay on the planet because then I can use that. In fact, I'm sure people have already, but the NMS servers are so hit and miss with what actually appears to you. Sometime there are hundreds of comms buoys and dozens of bases, other times you can't see anything.

I just went through, built an exocraft base, and drove to the quest site. I didn't have enough paraffinium at first, had to refine some to make the base.
Not sure what you do if you don't have one. Have you got the exocraft specialist guy at your base yet? I think he gives you the quests and exocraft blueprints.
The trees make a great addition to building, base looks way better now. The freighter interior stuff is good too.
I went through my first black hole. It damaged one of my drives, but leaps you further into the galaxy. The latest update included a questionaire about the game; I'm sure they'll get a ton of feedback, it will be interesting to see what elements they choose to implement later on.
I feel like time is running out to play this - I'm away next week, and then RDR2 drops. Pretty certain I'll be back though.

On the Week 6 event planet, some person or persons built an amazing Pac-Man base. I'll have to put up a photo here when I have time. Really enjoyed this event, though I assume it turns out the same no matter which dialogue options you pick.

Yeah it's not deep. I haven't done the latest, and now RDR2 is all ready to play I foresee a break. (Probably quite a long one if the intro is anything to go by!)
New rewards include new plants, and there's a wholenew named Update coming - Abyss. Ocean quest/overhaul I guess.

New update 'The Abyss' has launched, focused on improving ocean exploration!
Some new things:
- Nicer, more detailed oceans.
- New, and dangerous, creatures. Different ones found at different depths.
- New materials.
- New underwater building parts.
- New exocraft, a submarine.
- Two quests focused on ocean exploration.
- Missions focused on ocean exploration.
- Buildings and ships can now be found underwater (again, as they used to be found underwater in the original version of the game).
Can't wait!

Ah, that looks soo good. Phenomenal work from Hello Games.
I'm just getting stuck into RD though - it's going to be good to go back to though, I need that sub!

These updates are coming too fast for me to keep up! Another bunch of stellar additions (though I was a teensy disappointed that the collect and exhibit artifacts from planets didn't seem to extent to the treasures you find under ruins...though I can't believe I'm complaining lol). I wish I had time to play at the moment

It's been too long since I posted NMS photos, and I have a tonne of them
Let's start with some space photos:
Obligatory heroic pose shot:
This was really cool. I got involved in a space battle, but it got too heated for me, and I had to escape to a planet's surface. The pirates followed me, but so did the authorities, and then they engaged in a long battle in the skies above me.
Flying through the thin skies of a moon, it's planet and a sister moon nearby, and the sun ahead.
This shot of my science frigate is very 2001:
...and sometimes you just have to be a little immature
You suspect you've gone too far when you start taking photos of rocks...

Are tree shots any better?
What about lens flare from a gravitino ball (this was on a beautiful paradise moon which also had extreme frenzied sentinel activity unfortunately)
Same moon. This was one of the prettiest animals I've come across so far. It walked very gracefully, and what the image doesn't show is that it was also about two and a half metres tall.
The orange moon is the paradise extreme sentinel moon. The blue one is a frozen moon. And the planet itself was entirely dead, no atmosphere. I like the contrast between the three.
This was on one of the community portal missions. The first anomalous planet/moon of light I'd encountered. All the planets in that system were so close to each other (as this shot illustrates).
A couple more arty shots of the same planet and its strange installations.
My big friend shows me around his planet:
Trying out a filter
Two predators chasing this poor bug (there were actually three chasing it, but I couldn't get them all in the shot):

Okay, so this was on another of the community portal missions. Someone(s) had built this amazing Pac-Man base and left a message inviting other players to join them in their corner of the galaxy. The base is actually a starting point for an exocraft track which ran through tunnels under the planet's surface.
So after the Visions update hit, I started experimenting with underwater shots:
This, I think, was another community portal mission planet. Not a filter effect. Light was being devoured so everything was black, white, and red.
New types of marine animals with the Visions update:
Another couple of underwater shots, of my freighter (and some fish):
A freighter fleet orbiting an Earth-like planet:
I came across this planet which was largely flat apart from some isolated steep elevations. The trees on the planet were the biggest I have seen so far.

This was quite the moody planet:
One of the new types of crashed freighters:
Snow planets often make for the best shots:
Perfect parking job...
The anomalous planets now have strange living organisms on them - like these two balls which roll around unhurriedly.
My current fleet, slowly growing in size:
And I FINALLY got an exocraft! Of course the first thing I did was jump it off an enormous cliff...

Nice pictures, I haven't played since the latest update, the palette is definitely more varied, and it looks like they've added even more texture, and lighting effects in space.
The pictures almost don't do the game justice, looking out on these planets vistas when exploring is something else. I've been avoiding the reddit thread these days so all the new creatures will be a surprise when I get back to it, but I've already seen some vastly improved plants and moving wildlife, stuff that looks truly alien, rather than the weird cobbled together land animals of earlier versions.

It still has the ability to make you feel like you're on a totally new, unseen planet. With some amazing views.
You'll make me want to play, and I have no time at the moment.

Cool. There's a whole load of new resources I haven't used yet, I think your first base can be made out of wood/carbon resources instead of immediately jumping to the metal and glass stuff.

Wow there is a circular crater/atoll with coral(?) under water. So pretty.
Yeah, they seriously expanded underwater features and exploration a few months ago - which reminds me, I really need to get back into this and build a submarine

Yeah, I built my first one with wood after starting a new game with Next.
I am so excited to play again when the Beyond expansion releases - No Man’s Sky in VR!!!

Not too fussed for VR myself, although it's good game for it I guess.
Mind you I dont think it really needs multiplayer either as I like the solitude.
What I would still like is variation between the space stations and bases in different systems. Jumping 8 times, landing on a new planet, and finding the same base type and layout as the place you just left makes the universe smaller.
I'd love some added Orbitals or hubs, places with multiple species and more varied missions to do for them.

Not as rare as you might think - although some people spend an awful lot of time trying to find their 'earth' or home planet.
I used to find really nice looking planets, but there would be a down side, like super heated storms every 10 minutes or so, or too many sentinels.
I'm putting it on now to see what's what - I dont think I played since they added all the colours back in (one of the updates got rid of the wide palette for water and grass etc, which I believe has been corrected).
Take pictures and post them if you can, the camera is amazing and an integral part of the game as there's so much to see and record.
