The fight scenes which I felt that DD did well in both seasons. Were dark with a lot of cuts (not as many as in IF but still more then DD ) and not done well in Defenders.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

In comparison, DEFENDERS was shit on a stick.

Also, the FLASH/SUPERGIRL musical crossover was pure silly glorious fun.

It was indeed. Here's hoping they bring the same energy to the forthcoming TEEN TITANS show on their streaming service.

that was supposed to read worse than IF in you opinion Morgy, fwiw

eta
@apt
damn that's disappointing.

will probably try ep 1 at some stage, but in no rush to see it now

Ep 1 was slow. Ep 2 was more the pace of the rest of the episodes.

I just watched the first season of the new amazon tick and it was pure fun enjoyment. Man did the defenders suck in comparison.

Enjoyed this pretty well. The Hand are obviously a boring adversary -- the Foot Clan didn't have to go far for parody -- but it was at least good to get the leaders to coalesce. Thought the melding of all the stories was pretty deft, way better than I expected. Plus the show commented on how dumb Danny is, overtly, several times. And if this means the end of the Hand chapter in all their stories, all the better. If I were to nitpick it's that the Japanese dude seemed the coolest & most capable of the Hand, and yet got like zero moments to shine. Also in Iron Fist Gao said she had something worse than a dragon up her sleeve, and really nothing on this show even came close to that claim. Overall though, after IF, I'd call this one a return to form.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

So... I'm 3 episodes in and so far nothing has happened. That first fight in the boardroom where Electra turned up was kind of cool but really the only but I actually liked was when Luke Cage snagged Iron Fist in the face in episode 2...

I really hope it gets interesting soon. Jessica Jones is just whiny, IF is an annoying privileged douche. Luke Cage is more or less carrying the show by himself though DD is still pretty immense.

Episode 4. They sat in a Chinese restaurant and talked.

I'm done. Can't be bothered any more.

I think that the series would have been much better if they had just left out all the bits with the Iron Fist. Not sure if it was the writing or the actor but every scene with him in it was noticeably worse than any scene without him.

The problem is that the Iron Fist was actually the lynch pin of the shows "convergence". The Hands whole plot revolved around the legacy of Kun Lun and the Iron Fists. As such Iron Fist should had been the first show and there should had been numerous seasons, leading up to The Defenders.

Rand should have been running in the same circles as Stick by the time the shows culminated. He should be spear heading the attack. Instead he was being lead around by the nose.

I have a hard time understanding how they could have been planning The Defenders for 5 years or so and not had a polished manuscript by the time they got around for filming.

The reason is simple. 4 completely different show runner's. They literally each did their own standalone stories...those had to be united into a cohesive team-up show...and that was never going to work with the utterly different voices and creatives on display in each show.

You're right though. They SHOULD have scripted a DEFENDERS show before dropping all the other shows. A framework for the eventual team-up would have been smart.

Can't say I agree at all. It's pretty clear that this conception of Iron Fist isn't playing the wrong way. Rather, for some reason, they just decided to deliberately make him an annoying guy who aborted his mission and training midway. They are writing the character they devised accurately, like it or not, and The Defenders integrated him well enough into its story.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

That's easy enough to understand, they couldn't allow him to outshine the other Defenders too much. If he can summon the fist whenever he wants, half the problems they face go away, and they have to have viable threats to that, so the budget goes up.

Even with 4 different show runners you should still have someone higher up in production who is making sure that everything is integrated together properly. Like what Kennedy is doing for Starwars.

Fairly sure most marvel films have a different director, but they seem to tie in reasonably well.

So much better than Iron Fist - who was by far the weak point of the team.

For a guy who is supposed to be so strong-willed and disciplined he is a one-man army in hand-to-hand combat, he was very badly written as a pissy emo teenager with zero self-discipline. Constantly making stupid calls that fuck things up. :p

Other than that though, quite enjoyable. Three street level badasses out of four.

He might be the single worst written and worst cast protagonist I have ever seen on TV.

Yeah, just finishing up.

It's in the epilogue sequences here now.

Danny Rand is an unlikable character. Played by a very very limited actor. Man did his jaw clench angst face get annoying.

Over all it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, better than Iron fist, but that's easy enough.

One annoyance.

As ruthless as stick is supposed to be. Why didn't he just stick Alexandra in the Chinese restaurant?

The head chop was brilliant though.

Overall.

Iron fist seems really weak, considering he's supposedly the guardian of Kung Luo . He gets his ass handed to him repeatedly, if h e had been there, they would still all be dead.
