So I was just looking up some stuff about the MCU chronology in preperation for an Iron Fist binge when I have the time. Apparently it's basically confirmed that Daredevil S2 and Luke Cage take place sort of concurrently in late 2015, specific camera shots include actual dates - newspapers and such. It's also been confirmed that The Defenders is going to take place 2-3 months after the conclusion of Daredevil 2 , i.e. early 2016. This means that both Iron Fist - necessarily has to be before The Defenders obviously - and The Defenders are still in a pre-Civil War setting. A little disappointing, as I was hoping part of The Defenders plot would be dealing with the Sokovia Accords, but as it's set beforehand that means there's still hope for more integration of film and TV at a later date.

Apparently Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will be set only a few months after the events of the first one, of course the relativity of time means it's hard to place it in the earth-bound chronology, but seeing as they won't show up until Infinity War anyhow it's unproblematic, so long as it's after AoU. This means that literally the only Marvel events actually happening in 2017 as of now are those on the current story arc of Agents of SHIELD.

It's easily the worst in the franchise but I think it adds a bit to the hands storyline and would be useful to set you up for the DEFENDERS ASSEMBLE!! (CUE bullhorn) episode

I think (don't quote me) that I saw somewhere that Coleen will be in this, but as she doesn't show in that trailer at all unless they are being uncharacteristically subtle about things then perhaps it's not true. Personally I hope that Foggy, Karen, Trish all those main support cast types are in it for a couple of scenes or something, I like the idea of them all showing up, I'm a sucker for the shared universe concept, but yeah I don't want them stealing scenes and being in it too much. Frank Castle cameo though please

As for forcing yourself to watch Iron Fist, just go into it knowing that it's the worst of the four but also knowing there are literally a thousand worse things on TV you could be watching.

Oh and Sigourney is playing the villain of the series I believe, BK. Is the character named yet QT?

Yup, just rewatched it as well, paused it at that moment, definitely her (that is to say you do see her face is you pause it just right lol)

One can only assume that the other main support types will have some scenes as well, I mean each character will have more re-into than is shown in a teaser obviously. Makes sense to include Claire in any trailer more prominently though, as she has been in every show.

So Defenders was released today. I am half way through episode 2. So far it is ok. Nothing great. Iron Fist still a twerp but everyone else is doing pretty good.

Yup I was waiting for it until like 6AM yesterday doing other shit, finally fell asleep though, when I woke up it was up. Had shit to do during the day though, so I watched though the night tonight. Binged the whole damn thing, just finished. Won't say much until others have seen it, but I thought it was definitely better than Iron Fist at any rate.

I have an issue with the character of Luke Cage, not Colter's portrayal as such - I think he's fantastic in the role tbh - but with the actual character itself and how it's been portrayed over the years. Which is to say, wildly varying power levels. His super strength is an order of magnitude above someone like JJ, at times it's been presented as on par with Spidey, plus he has that nifty invulnerability to boot; I swear he is at least lower tier Avenger level. But I guess he's always been written as this street level hero, so that's what they went with and I guess it works, it's not like a die hard comic book fan can have much issue with suspension of disbelief anyways.

Btw, on a tangential note, wickedly excited for The Punisher series next

All that stuff about Luke Cage in my last post is just general stuff about the actual comic book character and his varying portrayals, nothing to do with the series itself.
