The First Empire was on Seven Cities (both First Empires began there).

@Murrin - Okay, swap Jacuruku for Theft, insert more space between Lether and those, and there you go Posted Image

hahaha we didn't ask for any information. We don't WANT to know. All we asked for was the prolouge, which was being released in the MMPB edition of Midnight Tides in anycase. It was just a matter of convenience, in terms of making the discussions easier.

Now just take a close look at your first three sentances there. Specifically the "we didn't ask for any information" and the "All we asked for was". Posted Image

By the way good luck Johnathan, keep us informed about how it goes. Also I am sure there may be some others who would be willing to help you out.

And yeah a map is always nice especially in a SFF book, a definate bonus, I don't even know why. Maybe it's just nice to be able to sort things out in your head. Or maybe the cartographer thing aswell.

I thought that they'd moved the entire continent into the warren, and therefore is only accessible to certain people...

As to Quon Tali being close to the Segulaeh Island, the world is a globe. Even if Genebackis and 7C are fairly close to the north it doesn’t mean that Quon Tali and SI are close. Look at America/Asia, they are close to the north but hardly around the equator.

As the Lord of Vione said...just wait for the encyclopedia (although who knows when that is due.....not a rhetorical question).

Having a map inside also sells a book to me. I'm more hesitant of buying a book that doesn't have one. So, put me down as a closet cartographer.

Not that we know of, and the quote definitly points to lether (thanks for looking that up for me hetan, knew it was there somewhere)

And though i haven't found the quote abot where teh crimson gaurd came from, logic would dictate that since all the ports are in the west, they came from the west, placing assail west of lether which fits...

I think stratem is the large archapeligo mentioned by malaclypse that reaches half way across the main ocean, as it is referred to as a vast penisula, which sort of matches.

By your map jackaru is closer to the malazan empire than korel, so i'd move it further east and south, as as far as we know the malazans aren't on jackuru. so mybe shift jackuru further away.

(Just had a thought, the crimson gaurd claim to be opposing the malazans on four continets, what are the four? genebackis, korel, seven cities and where else? quon tali perhaps?)

I think quon tali and seven cities would more fit in the world picture if they were siginficantly shrunk, i always got the impression that they were the smallest, especially as they are so often referred to as subcontinents. I certainly think that they should occupy much less space than genabackis.

Koreli is also not really close to malaz island which is near the southern most tip of quon tali.

Good work all round though altogether.

In the MoI prologue it's noted that the ground was warm down to the bedrock and that the world is too young to bear such scars, or something like that. From that I inferred that the entire continent was relocated. Doesn't someone travelling through the Imperial Warren come across a massive trench/quarry/uh...?

Anyway, if it's stated that Jacuruku is still on the Malazan world, I've forgotten it. Can you cite a book/chapter?

If Genabackis is NE of Quon Tali and Segulaeh is SW of Genebackis it is at least half a continent closer than northern Genebackis. And there is only 1000 leagues from the icefields north of 7C to northern Genebackis. I would say that is fairly close.
