Caught last week's John Oliver show where he absolutely excoriates Liz Truss. I did not know she went missing for a bit.
You lot have had quite a run since Tony Blair. Liz Truss < Boris Johnson < Theresa May < David Cameron < Gordon Brown < Tony Blair.

The fact that the top of that slide into shite is a war criminal who enabled Murdoch to take over the media is all one needs to know about how and why we are so fucked

I know she wasn’t elected but rather chosen by party officials but I have watched LIz Truss speak, how on earth was she chosen. Whatever the opposite of charisma is she has it.
Was she chosen to fail, or as a placeholder until the next real election? Although I understand her popularity is bad she is killing the party.

Because the people who really control things want an easy, malleable puppet in place and she was more under control (and too stupid to realise it) than Rishi.

So despite my not being a big fan of Charles I am very much appreciative of him saying "Back again? Dear oh dear" to Liz Truss!

What's "Dear Oh Dear" when translated out of English Understatement?

I think the american version would go something like "You wanna f*** with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay! Say hello to my little friend!"
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I'm this context I would suggest it's a case of "YOU'RE still in charge?? This isn't good for anybody!" Most likely coupled with an exasperated line of "what kind of moronic backwards country have I just become the head of state for where this cretin can be the PM" and with just a touch of "and now I have to suffer your company once again..."

And Kwarteng is sacked. Wow, she really is gunning for that shortest ever PM spot, isn't she.
For someone who idolises Thatcher, this lady is definitely turning an awful lot.

Oh for goodness sake, Jeremy Hunt (he who was determined to utterly destroy the NHS) has replaced him. These are truly the very worst of us.

I'm utterly baffled by the UK system. I don't understand why having a meeting with a figurehead king or queen would ever be anything that has people walking on eggshells or so transfixed. From an outside observation though, the few times I've watched Liz Truss give a speech, she goes above and beyond the phrases "out of her depth" / "over her skis."

Apart from the first time a new prime minister used to have to go and see the queen, the weekly meeting between prime minister and monarch was never news. It is slightly interesting now because it's Charles but it got raised in profile when Boris Johnson had to see the queen after his illegal prorogation of parliament and parties before Prince Phillip's funeral. It went under the radar the previously.
That's not to say our constitutional setup is not batshit insane. It is but it wasn't shoved in our face until recent years with the ridiculousness foisted upon us by idiot tories.
I'm avoiding the news. It's too depressing and I refuse to be forced to engage with a crisis caused by a tory party in a death spiral. I have this feeling of dread that no matter how low they sink, they will somehow cling to power. Or by the time they lose an election the country will be in such dire straits there will be no way back anyway.

Check out 'Brexit' as it trends on Twitter; even the Telegraph has run with 'project fear was right all along'.
I mean, yeah, surely that was obvious. If it hadn't done so much damage to this country I'd be howling with laughter.

Going from bad to worse: Hunt (now chancellor) has said that the 'cap' imposed in the Kar Kwash mini budget is being scrapped in April, so look forward to massively hiked utility bills A G A I N

Ooh, now they've kicked Cruella Braverman to the curb. The are replacing all the vile right extremist Tory slime with more palatable stuck up conservative Tory slime. Rees-Mogg next? Truss is PM in name alone now, CHunt is pulling all the strings by the looks of it. What a total joke. Truss has turned into her own Spitting Image puppet, with Hunt's arm up her backside. You cannot make this stuff up.
