My only qualifier for an undisputed Polish victory was "unless Shaquiri gets his shit together". Boy, was I right, :D

Watched the game with mah Polish crew, starting 9 AM. good times were had. 'Sauga City Center had a shit ton of red and white at noon on a Saturday, haha

Brilliant job, Wales. Now all I need for a perfect footy Saturday is to see Ronaldo cry.

Wow. That first half... I dozed off for the last 15 min of it.

Second half was better. But Kalinic should've gotten on earlier.

Rakitic is having a terrible game. Perisic doesn't have a touch either. Bringing on Sanches really sparked Portugal's game.

There's gonna be goals in overtime. I hope.

urgh
This is what happens when you don't start playing till second half of overtime.

Goddamn it, Quaresma just WALKED to the net. Strinic walking 2 feet behind him.

Now Poland's gonna have its work cut out not to choke.

Too much work to do today. Only gonna watch Belgium

not expecting any upsets from Ireland or Slovakia, though.

Edit: took a break for tea, turned on the game. Saw 20 min of the second half up to the goal. Slovakia passing neatly, but not getting into the box. Like, at all. Germany being its usual efficient self. That finish seemed almost lazy.

Decent first half by Ireland but the gap in individual quality was just too wide. Anyway, huge props. They left litres of blood and sweat on the pitch and held out for 60 minutes after a much stronger side playing at their home turf. Unfortunately Ireland completely broke down after Griezmann equalised.

France were pretty terrible in the first 45: I love Pogba but he's been a joke so far. Trying to be fancy and doing tricks but little in terms of actual contribution. Payet wasn't as good as in the previous games but even if he's not on top of his game, he's a constant threat: albeit a chaotic one. And finally Griezmann and Giroud. Not much of a threat in the first half but showed some great chemistry in the second. Not a fan of Giroud but in a combo with Griez they're super dangerous.

So far I'd say Payet, Bale, and Błaszczykowski are the best individual performances among attacking players. Morata seems to be doing well too, but I think I missed all games by Spain so far so haven't seen him in action outside of highlights.

Germany's Draxler is also quite solid. Like Kuba, he's got 2 goals, and he's a constant threat, and always in the right place.

True that. And one of few hyped up youngsters that are doing well so far. Pogba and de Bruyne are big letdowns, Sanches also doesn't convince me.

The commentators are saying de Bruyne had these most chances created in the group stage of anyone.

He's being a terror on the field right now.

Hazard has finally woken up. They still look shaky in the back, but Belgium is growing into the tournament. Hungary really was the perfect opponent at this stage, giving the Belgians that much space.

Welp, I certainly picked the correct game to watch today.

I want to see Hungary @ the World Cup. They are phenomenally fun to watch.

Belgium is smth else, though. I really, really want a GER-BEL final. if that happens, I'll be totally satisfied no matter who wins.

There's a lot of Icelandic expats here. The game is amazing!

Watching Iceland play, I'm jealous about how they play in relation to the USA. Their players understand how to move to relieve pressure on the ballhandler and how to slide into space in a way that almost none of the US players do.

Rooney gives the ball away too much and it's because he's forcing it due to the British players not finding space in the field. Means both good play from Iceland defense and bad movement from British midfield. Not sure what players they can plug in to change that. Most are a like for like substitution or a direct play type, which isn't what's needed here.

Wilshire for Dier, seems to have helped a little, but Rooney is not playing well either. Iceland probably needs to get fresh legs on soon, hold the lead.
