Assassin's Creed Movie Trailer

This looks interesting and worrying at the same time. I find it peculiar that they've strapped him to some kind of Assassin-simulator. Instead of it just being him lying on a bed.
They're leaning into the whole Brotherhood and Ezio storyline (I assume it is Ezio), which means there'll be plenty of cool action sequences. But what about the story? Is this film going to have grey nuances or will it just be the goody Assassins vs the oh so evil Templars?

It's gonna be 45% jumping around buildings, 45% riding a horse through pointlessly detailed landscapes that seem like they were meant to be used for something more, 8% simulator room, and 2% action.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

And an infuriatingly long scene of him following someone across an entire city and then sitting on a bench eavesdropping.
How about some flag collecting?
How about some flag collecting?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I can't wait for him to carry boxes for people. Those are always my favourite missions.

Assassin's Creed pays for itself when you go to Florence and know your way around without having to look at a map.

Well duh. Your skills are weak if the police spot you.
As they have Fassbender for this I'm assuming the script must be good or he is being paid an obscene amount of money to make idiots like me think that the script must be good..... I would never give this film the time of day otherwise.

Having never been interested in the games I find myself having a similar amount of interest in the movie, especially after that crappy trailer.
And the music! Ugh!
Still, I may watch it by ... other means if a sufficient number of you give it a positive rating.

Dang, I was just listening to I Am A God. That was the only thing I really liked about the trailer (and oh yah, agreed Fassbender and also Cotillard do provide at least the illusion of 'promising'). All the friggin blades-being-drawn and fake impact sounds throughout were annoying though.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

it opened with BWAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Cause that isn't over used in trailers.
It looks like shit, I'm surprised Fassbender went for it, must be a dumper truck full of cash parked outside his house.
My prediction - will take a good premise, and make a worse hash of it than Prince of Persia ( and man did they waste potential there )

I wonder why they think computer games will make great films. The only one that I can think of that was half decent was Tomb Raider. Anyone want to give me another one?
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

I liked Prince of Persia. I thought it was solid.
I also strangely liked the recent Hitman film. It was a B-movie for sure, but a really solid one that was surprisingly faithful to the Hitman games which made it fun. It seemed to be loosely based on Hitman: Absolution.
I want to say the original Mortal Kombat film was cool as well but it's been like 20 years since I watched that film. Might just have been the teenager in me.
The thing is, the older franchises are notoriously shit when it comes to plot, characterization and basic writing. Movie adaptions of more modern franchises might be more successful. Like Uncharted, Last of Us, Witcher... Metal Gear Solid?!
EDIT: For those curious this is the wikipedia list of video game movie adaptions:
https://en.wikipedia..._on_video_games
I am surprised the list isn't longer.

The worst part of Ass creed has always been the Animus!

I like the Animus. It was the coolest thing about the early games. That whole glitch in the matrix/Subject 16 sub-plot was great.
Unfortunately they never figured out how to truly utilize it. I'd have liked it if you could have used it to hack the memory world and vice versa, in later games, the Templars could have invaded the memories.

Prince of Persia was ok as a dumb fantastical actiony film.
But as a break into the PoP world, they should have went with the darker themes if Warrior within, looks and musical score wise. Jake Gyllenhaal would have suited that better as well I think.
Gemma Arteton is pretty enough, but I've yet to see anything that has convinced me she can act.

Holy shit the resident evil movies seem to constantly pull solid numbers. Have only seen the first 2.
Some real stinkers on that list. Of the ones I've seen In the Name of the King easily stands forth as the worst.
Eta - holy shit there are 2 sequels (direct to tv) of that shit!
And a Tekken 2 (morbidly curious about this tbh, I kind of vaguely enjoy these fighting game film adaptations just for nostalgia/ cringe cheese purposes. That and Christie Montero's ass in the first tekken film)
