I discovered that the best way to dodge Namless' attacks was to roll towards him most of the time and then circle. It made it feel almost trivial at the end.

Once you learn the trick or right combination of equipment, they can become easy - it's just getting to that point that's troublesome!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yeah. It's really easy after dozens of failed attempts might not be the most valuable advice.

Finished the Ariandel dlc. Good boss fight to finish on, although I couldn't quite believe it when she got up again for a third time! Got a bit frustrated with the pair of them at the same time, but generally their moves were pretty easy to pick up on. I had more trouble with the Storm King.
DS does some really creepy bosses, loved the cut-scenes for this one.
Well worth playing if you haven't got it yet, quite a compact area but suitably different from previous ones to make it interesting.

The ice attack killed me several times. Figuring out that was a doozy.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I had two frost resist rings on, and rolled to the side as the ice attack made a straight path.
I died once with only one hit to go... I just sat there looking at the screen; wondering why I'd broken the pattern right at the end. She got me more with that scythe than he did.

I finished Ashes of Ariandel yesterday, it's Friede's combos in part 3 that are the true nightmare! Strangely I found the 2 on 1 easier, they share a healthbar and he is slow and predictable. Quite enjoyed the new area, though I found some of the wolf gank squads to be a bit ott for my liking tbh.

Which ending is that, and do you need it for the dlc? I remember there was a whole path I missed out on due to curing myself.
Friede and that scythe.. awesome. And the reaction from her father when you finish het in phase one is reeally creepy.
Edit.. looks like you can enter the dlc from the Kiln of the First Flame, at a new bonfire that appears.

Yeah I thought it'd be a new bonfire in the kiln - before or after defeating Cinder I'm not sure - the narrator in the trailer for the new dlc says that the Ringed City is "at world's end, as far beyond that rubbish heap as one can go". The rubbish heap in question is the Kiln of the First Flame.
Lord of Hollows is the complicated ending for which you need the Dark Sigil from Yoel of Londor then a series of interactions with Anri, Horace and Yuriah, culminating in a creepy wedding. So long as you've done it all before defeating Cinder then you automatically get that ending. Doubt you need any specific ending for the dlc, the Lord of Hollows ending is just the most satisfying and the one I want. I'm guessing it's the one you missed as well, very easy to heal the dark sigil without thinking.
Father Ariandel is just creepy all over, "Bring me my flail".

Ran through everything from Wolnir to the archives in a couple of hours, just the Princes and Cinder to do now, probs finish it up tomorrow just in time for the Ringed City on tuesday. Let's hope it isn't too difficult on NG4 or 5 whatever it is i'm on now. Might have to beat Friede again as well, just to get both soul weapons, if only for ocd purposes lol

Holy mother of fuck! So I've just spent 3 fruitless hours trying to kill one particular boss from the new Ringed City dlc, almost 30 attempts and the closest I have managed to get the bastard is down to a 3rd of its health - and that was with my brother's help, who's already beat the damn thing on his NG character in just 4 attempts. To put that into context, I beat Friede in about 5 attempts, in fact that is more attempts than Capra, O&S and the Bed of Chaos put together on my first ever DS1 playthrough! For the first time ever I'm genuinely not sure I'll be capable of beating a souls boss. Apparently it's not even the most difficult boss according to my brother!
It is optional, but I've seen the weapon you can make can make from it's soul, I want it soooo badly. I knew going into the dlc on NG5 was a bad idea, but I really didn't think anything would be this hard. Cannot be asked to create a new character and play through the whole game again just to tackle the dlc on NG tbh.

Darkeater! Same boss I'm quitting after fighting three times with my friend. Quitting bc it's two am. This dlc is amazing.

Glad it's a worthy end to the series.
Can't wait to get into this. Need.. more.. time!
Any boss you have to quit and return to later is a good boss.

Oh don't get me wrong, this dlc is great (well cancer angels aside!), definitely better than Ashes, even Darkeater is a great boss fight in that epic vein. Darkeater is frustratingly difficult but not in a cheap sense really (some of the hitboxes are a little ott I think but no purposely cheap mechanics) no it's all the more frustrating because I can see how to do it and just aint good enough! lol Doesn't help that the camera angle is pretty atrocious at times as well for this fight.
I'll spoiler my description below of his attacks, in case you'd rather not know Trav
Down to 30 embers now and I'm not sure whether maybe I should just finish the rest of the DLC first, because that will obviously be considerably harder unembered and this boss is optional. Thing is really want that weapon, really wanted use it in this dlc.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Only took me like 40 tries but Midir is no more!! Two-Handing the refined Exile Greatsword +10 does a ton of damage, but by gawd are his attacks hard to dodge!!!! THIS, this feeling right now Is why I freaking love these games!!!!

So after a few days forced distance from my beloved PS4, I finally got back on yesterday and whacked the final boss of the entire Dark Souls franchise. Took about 7-8 tries, nothing like as difficult as the optional boss, for me anyhow - my brother still maintains it's much more difficult.
It genuinely hit me harder than I thought it would, no more new souls content (assuming they stick to their word) is actually pretty saddening to be honest. I've decided I finally have to get over my dislike and complete Scholar of the First Sin as well, else I can't say I've beaten everything, reckon that'll be my next task once I'm finished with Andromeda.
Theory: The painting that Friede's sister wants to paint in the chapel ends up being Yarnham. They'd never definitively say either way as that's not their style, but there's no proof that it's not the case.

I think I'm going to hold off the last dlc for now. I left the last one until I needed a Souls fix; I'm in no hurry to end it all just yet!

I loved the DLC. It's not a new ending, but it is interesting and the battles are very very fun/cool.
I do have to go back and beat Scholar of First Sin too. DS2 was my least favorite of the bunch.
