Is my google-fu failing, or is there no indication that an earbook is forthcoming for UNHOLY CONSULT?

That does seem to be the case. No info on audiobooks. I plan to buy the HC/TP whatever is available first.

I'll may get the ebook and then grab the earbook at the reduced price once its available.
I would just get to read it far far faster by earbook and those audible credits don't spend themselves, dammit.

Could have sworn I saw it available on Audible for pre-order, but an Audible search right now isn't turning up anything.

I do know that Orton was all set to record TUC, to finish off TAE.

Regardless, thankfully, UK gets first push this year - rather than being months after NA releases - and they have the ebook, HC, and PB available right away (I have no idea why I'm seeing the HC as costing less than PB).

Is it on Amazon? Were the advance copies HC? There's been a huge controversy about third-party sellers selling mysterious "new" copies of books at lower cost; one partial explanation is that they're acquiring free advance copies and reselling them.

"It used to be that when you were shopping for a new copy of a book and clicked 'Add to Cart,' you were buying the book from Amazon itself. Amazon, in turn, had bought the book from its publisher or its publisher's wholesalers, just like if you went to any other bookstore selling new copies of books. There was a clear supply chain that sent your money directly into the pockets of the people who wrote and published the book you were buying.
But now, reports the Huffington Post, that's no longer the default scenario. Now you might be buying the book from Amazon, or you might be buying it from a third-party seller. And there's no guarantee that if the latter is true, said third-party seller bought the book from the publisher. In fact, it's most likely they didn't.
Which means the publisher might not be getting paid. And, by extension, neither is the author.
[...]
A representative I spoke to from one of the big five publishers theorized that third-party sellers might be selling some of the free promotional copies that publishers routinely send out to critics and bloggers just before a book is published"

https://www.vox.com/...ing-controversy

The article doesn't iirc address the possibility of counterfeit books, but again, if the promotional copies were HC but not PB, and an unscrupulous third-party acquired them, I don't see why they couldn't produce bootleg copies on the HC template.

Interesting. Though I believe in this case, the promotional copies are trade paperbacks?

As far as I recall, Overlook has never released mmpbs in the US (I could be wrong but no one has explicitly shown me otherwise over the years) and, even if they're interested, Overlook hasn't let Orbit print mmpb for distribution in US.

There are other people with more accurate information, I'm sure, but these are things I've gleaned over the years.

kobo.com has a preview available of the table of contents (all the chapter titles!), the What Has Come Before section, the entirety of chapter 1, and part of chapter 2. Some readers, myself included, have noted difficulty accessing the preview on smartphones and via certain browsers so don't be discouraged if you can't access it first try (I couldn't use Firefox but Safari worked - I'm on a Mac).

Happy reading!

THE HISTORY OF EARWA series is now compiled into a single, 130-odd page PDF to allow people to catch up with the series and its backstory before THE UNHOLY CONSULT is released.
Visit The Wertzone for reviews of SF&F books, DVDs and computer games!

Excellent!

Second Apocalypse members have confirmed purchasing TUC at Waterstones in the UK, shipping from Waterstones to US (at a prohibitive price probably), and having Barnes & Noble in US put books on hold for the second date (not revised!) US date of July 11th!

It's out there :(!

Good news. I'm holding off on starting any books that may end up being good because I want to jump on tUC as soon as I can download my pre-ordered ebook :)

Most impressive. I've read parts from the first four parts of Eärwa's history on your website but this is like... a bit longer :) How were you able to do it? Did you get some of the info right from Bakker? I don't remember even half of that from the books?

Fuck.

What are the odds it just pops up on (one of) the official release date(s)?

Would it be overly intrusive to try to email the reader and ask if he's finished the book yet? He probably doesn't get much fan mail....

I cheated. Some of it's from THE UNHOLY CONSULT's massive encyclopedia at the end of the novel (it's about 150 pages long!), which was hugely important for expanding on some things. The only thing I got from Bakker direct was the location of the Nine Mansions.

The rest of it is in the novels and short stories, but spread out over a huge amount of pages and material.
