The unlikely pairings are the most fun to ship. :Rodeo: Assuming there's at least some canon justification...

Popped in just to add OHHHHHH HELLLLLL YEAAAAAHHHHH!

What a series. So much fun. I saw earlier people talking about Varys teleporting. I hope in the following pages of discussion I bypassed someone mentioned that the scene is notably much later as Tyrell and Martell ships are in her fleet.

Meanwhile, what an epic climax. Much better than the Shae/Jojen/Tywin finale that was meant to be the best episode ever. It was FINE, but I'm still grumpy they didn't throw Stannis's arrival into The Watchers on the Wall. This one none of us had any expectations.

Arya's little murder was awesome and caught me totally off guard. Didn't like the Titus Andronicus bit, though. Done before and seems out of character to me.

Everything about that off-putting theme at the start and Cersei's empress garb was so good. So good.

Sigh. Another 42 weeks until next season. Phew. I'm done. You guys been alllll right.

How did muh Malazans get to Lether in just one book eh EH

Because a year passed between the two books. That's one time that Erikson DID explain the timeline :Rodeo:

The real question is how did the Barghast get to Lether some years before they left Genebackis.

The 'muh' was sort of my indicator that I wasn't being serious. :)

Not a bad way to start a romance between killers.

Cersei on Arya's list, in the books if not the show. Could have been the wrong kind of see you later promise.

Arya's list was originally a lot longer in the show than it was in the books, but after a time training with the FM she narrowed it down to I think 4 names: Cersei, the Mountain, the Red Woman, and Walder Frey. We know she's not going to kill Cersei, though; she'd be a big stretch for the valonqar. Not that they've mentioned the valonqar in the show...they probably want it to be a big shock when Jaime kills her.

Jaime was never on her list, book or show. He might be if she knew what he did to Bran, but she doesn't.

I answered this question YEARS back in one of the book forums.

The Barghast canoes were made by De'Lorean

EDIT - found the post, from 2008:

Was wasting time on youtube, and came across an interesting tidbit that makes the S6 finale a bit better.

I had remembered the Bran conversation with the Reeds about the gods not abiding the murder of guests, but I forgot the story itself.

The story Bran tells is of a member of the knight's watch who feeds a prince to the king in a pie and is cursed for it as they were guests.

Aria would have heard that story as well from old nan, so her somewhat over the top idea for revenge at least makes some sense now.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Do they get assigned their own personal knight to watch, or is it more of an organised tournament coach trip association?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Gimme a break, it was obviously a typo.

I mean Knight Swatch. It is a collection of northmen with batman swatches.

GoT received 23 Emmy nominations this year.

Would be 24, but no category for "worst general in a drama series"

Lol. I don't know why Emilia Clarke keeps getting recognition. And even the fucking Three Eyed Raven got a nomination.

Very good to link for show-watchers who might have forgotten the foreshadowing, which was pretty scant in the show relative to the books. They did a good job bringing together all the bits that show why this detail is important.

Oh god I need to post this somewhere. Half way into episode 2 of season 6. What the fuck is going on with that holy fucking church. Fucking kill the High Sparrow already! Did the Lannisters lose their fucking balls during season 4 and 5?! Oh this is driving me mad!

They haven't dedicated any air time to explaining why the Church suddenly has this amount of freedom. There ought to be some kind of political and military resistance that they haven't shown us. By the end of of this season they better fucking show Cersei Lannister pissing into the eye socket of the High Sparrow's broken skull or I will become quite vexed.

Such hatred towards Jonathan Price. They manage to snare such an exquisitely superb actor and you just want to kill him off? What has this show made of us all?

It's mainly because I don't buy the scenario. Up until season 5 we have been shown a kingdom/city under complete control by the crown/nobility. Then suddenly because Cersei gives them freedom to punish sinners, the powers that be become impotent? I don't buy it. Maybe if there had been an in between episode that showed various court officials, lords, merchants, etc. complaining and lashing out against the church, and in turn Cersei through the crown, protected the church, then I could see the crown losing the power of the people as the Church was made to look like the de facto power in Kings Landing.

However they don't show that. They just show first the Tyrells and then Cersei being captured, tortured and humiliated. The king is shown as being ineffectual and scared and no other objections are raised. I find it unbelievable. Yes, the populace are dangerous, and the church could turn them against the nobility, but that is not the kind of stories we have been told. I would expect the High Sparrow to be either poisoned, being drugged and discovered in a brothel surrounding by under age rent boys or just plain cut down. March in the gold cloaks and kill everyone while stories of depravity and treason are spread. Appoint a new, crown bought, High Sparrow, and continue as usual.

I get that the leadership is greatly weakened but the support structure under it is still there. The spies, killers and assassins are still there. I guess I will have to wait and see but I find it silly that these powerful scheming lords are this easily outmaneuvered. Hell, what kind of education have they been giving Tommen? How the hell is a teenage lordling not already educated sufficently in the philosophy of power and politics that he can cut straight through the empty words of fanatic priest?

EDIT; To be clear Jonathan Pryce's portrayal of the High Sparrow makes my skin crawl. He's so nice and pious that you just know that he's a fucking monster.
