Yeah, I've certainly been thinking about the same. Depends a lot on if/who we could get as a third member of the alliance, too. If it were Khell we could use the warp portal for our own good and I could probably concentrate on holding off Twelve and Gnaw while you two pincer southward and westward.

Could work... or might not at all.

Or CF comes on board and we powerhouse attack in all directions, you against Khell, CF southwards and me either northeast, against the GC or against Tapper.

Again, could work... or might fail miserably :p

If I ally with you, do I still have to fight ancients? The reason I ask is that an alliance with you would only help me if I could use it to move my troops around the map more easily, but if I still have to fight the ancients, I'd basically HAVE to go through Khell to get anywhere else in the galaxy.

Yes allies would have to fight the ancients but as D'rek owns the hex you wouldn't gain the discovery tiles under them.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Well that's useless to me. D'rek, I'll consider allying with you should you suggest it, but I'd rather revisit the idea of an alliance after I own an extra hex or two south of my current hexes.

I do believe that's the case, as we have provisionals for Gnaw and IH, right?

Yup, you still have to fight the Ancients, but that does not mean I would have a problem with that. If I own a hex with 1 ancient and my ally kills it I lose 1 VP from my racial bonus, but my ally gains reputation and one of us can get the discovery tile underneath with a bit of effort, so it's still at least a +2 VP gain.

This is an interesting position. I border (or almost border) on so many people, and I have the potential to accrue so much income and resources, but with each disc put down or used as an action costing so much it would take me until round 4 or 5 to actually influence and colonize all the spaces I want... and that's with only spending research on Advanced things but not military research. Naturally, no one is going to leave me alone that long. So do I try and scrap together resources and tech to resist, slowing my production gains? Or do I just try and colonize/influence as much as possible and let the systems that get attacked be destroyed? I guess there's a third option of trying to schmooz into an alliance so I don't face so many threats on all sides, too. Hmmmmm.

I'll leave you alone that long. Probably. :p

Oh, and my provisional for when it comes back around to me is as follows:

Influence Geminga

Remember: the influence disc goes on the move so you can only use it to upgrade or build during the round you influence it.

Huh I hadn't thought CF would be attacking the ancient homeworld it would make infinitely more sense to attack draco and the hive hex rather than the ancient homeworld before D'rek gets her production up. D'rek has no significant material production or technology just yet and there is a nice line of ancients to be smush and discoveries to be claimed beyond it. I don't see that being the case for very long though, if we've learned anything from the previous games it's smush d'rek early.

yeah, don't tell tatts this cause I'm trying to play tough-guy

Haven't decided where to go with it yet to be perfectly honest. The double cruiser was kinda the whole point of the way I ended last turn. Wanted to leave lots of options, but the problem is that the options are all still there!

Is there a disco tile under that ancient dreadnought?

EDIT

Nvm...I checked. It might be a cruiser actually. There is a disco tile beneath.

CF look at it differently actually. How about you leave me be and we create an alliance in later rounds? No one can get to me and what I have planned will make me quite strong attacking wise (it's my only option)

You leave me the ancient to kill which will most probably be round 4. We enter diplomatic negotiations.

thoughts?
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

The Forests are nearly unanimous in their prediction that the Granite Ones will buy the Research Station. They dare not leave it until round 3.

Khell are you open to involvement with a smush d'rek early plan? You could easily take either one ancient hex with conifold hull on one of your cruisers.
