We are starting this madness again.
Like Quick Ben on the Spar of Andii, I mutter a prayer to gods and dim hopes for the future before I launch myself into the unknown.
LET THE CATAPTCLYSM BEGIN ANEW!

Also, more poll options needed.
Let the forum ancients come forth and make the requisite witticisms.

One's a cat and the other, according to occasional friendly banter I have seen, un-ironically enjoys the Transformers movie series. Clearly both right bastards/spawns-of-Satan.
So, I'll vote neither. Monsters, the both of them.

This was a valid question many moons ago. No longer.
NO LONGER I SAY!
The winner of the rep wars... was no one. It was FORUMPACALYPSE!!!!!!!
Damn you for attempting to bring another Armageddon down on us. Damn you!

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

The point is there is no point save mindless destruction of lives and peoples. Brujah, in their madness, has attempted to call upon this living void once again. For shame I say, let the past be past!
(I actually have no idea what happen last time but according to amphibian and HoosierDaddy, it was apocalyptic.)

In an old version of VBulletin (the software that the forum runs to be a message board), rep was weighted. And you could also see long messages in the rep notes - instead of this terrible 15 character cutoff we now enjoy.
Those who had a lot of rep could give a rep with a number attached that was bigger and bigger the more rep you had. So someone started an Abyss vs. Apt contest for rep - whoever had the most rep at the end of it "won". So the majority of the forum repped each other for posts in that contest thread about anything and everything to end up with extremely large rep numbers (positive or negative). Things got ridiculous fast and then slid straight into CATAPTCLYSM. I actually wasn't a full fledged Phoenix Inn poster at the time, so I mostly stayed out of it, but it was entertaining to watch in a safe, silly trainwreck sort of way.
Wisely, the VBulletin people decided to get rid of weighted rep (tilts the perception of the forum dynamic too strongly in the direction of forum ancients and scares new people from posting). So I'm not sad that went away. I do effin' wish that we could give full rep messages that could be seen by the recipient as we used to have good side conversations by those and feedback (positive and negative) was way more useful.
So the general idea is to rep every post. Positive or negative, doesn't matter. Pick a favorite between Abyss, Apt and chaos. Vote as you like, rep as you like. Plot as you will and cause polite mayhem too.
I think Abyss actually won the last time out, but we know Apt's always up for a wheelchair derby.

What is the reason behind the question?
That depends on the answer, of course!
Only once the answer is given, will we know the question.
Hint: The answer is not '42', therefore you know the question is not 'the answer to the universe, life, and everything.' One question we know its not. That should narrow it down enough for quantum theories to take effect.

Ironically, I was out of rep before I even started due to the mafia game, so rep will have to be forthcoming.

I thought the old rep wars of yesteryear happened because Steven Erikson mentioned something about how he enjoyed reading Abyss' posts and thought he was funny. This started an "Abyss Wins" thread but Apt, in his Transformer mushed brain asserted that he was was the best and people took sides or just made snarky comments from the sidelines. This then devolved into everyone saying why they win, which further devolved into "Plz gimme rep cus I'm cool lol" which was what prompted the change. I don't know why Brujah wants to bring this back up, though it is true we haven't had a good spam war for a while. In semi-related news, I miss snake0024.
I too would like full rep comments and the ability to read back through rep, not just the latest 5...

Memories. Nostalgia. Who gave me my first ever rep? I don't know. Have a received bad rep? Why did I get it? These are things I think about when you are all mentioning the past.
I see neither have even commented on this thread, but I bet your bottom dollar they have both visited to see the results and what people are saying!

Look, people have already voted. They have not weighted their options carefully enough. To side with one is to go against the other. On your head be it!

It stems from a combination of a few key elements.
33.33% for having much extra free time because of the holidays.
33.33% for the realization that either/and/or both have increased in their levels of awesomeness, thus of COURSE it has to be re-evaluated
33.33% for Abyss and Aptorius being two of my favorite Malazanites, and not being able to decide the VERY important matter of whom I like best, and what better way of choosing than allowing the masses to tell me how I should think, duh.
