Once he introduced the notion of the huge spell on Demonreach being laid down at different times, my immediate thought was that Dresden from many many years in the future, would end up being the original Merlin (but I'm really hoping that won't be the case).

After the Q&A though, I am wondering who are the characters who we've seen already, that have different supernatural guises (and what are they?).

And because he carefully didn't make any mention of it, I still really want to know who/what MAC is.

False!

There's been a Law of Magic saying 'don't time travel' from the start, it's not new.

He's out.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I will allow that there were more aggravating people, and some stupid questions, but the combination of the two groups was mercifully low for a talk of over 1hr 45mins.

@ILLY - I don't care if he's out, I want to know who/what he is.

Don't know if it was in that Q&A, but I think Butcher said at some point that every book is about Harry breaking a separate Law (not that I can see that). Time-travel is bound to happen. Also, who was Faith again? Think he said it's with her as a client that the Apocalypse is triggered. About Mac, Butcher hinted like he did with the Mothers that anyone could do the same research he had (which he claims is mostly from the childrens' section of the library to get the actual stories), in Mac's case about Watchers I think. And given how he follows the stories, of course the original Merlin is in Demonreach - imprisoned on an island (or tree or cave) by Vivien/Nimue/Morgan Le Fay even as he is.

Faith is the little girl in the very first Dresden story, Restoration of Faith, which starts off Side Jobs.

Also Mac is totally a combination of Uatu and Mills Lane.

I mean, seriously:

Dude, that lady that just stone cold spoilers a major plot-line deserves a kick in the shin. She KNEW they hadn't all read the book yet.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

So Illy is basically going for the angle in which Mac opts back in by saying "Let's get it on!"

That is correct, the short story is 'Restoration of Faith.'

Re-reading this after a quick jaunt through Cold Days and the Bigfoot short stories (which were okay). I've come up with a few questions:

1) There's a section in which Nicodemus is saying who has stuff within Marcone's vault. "Drakul" is named as one of the entities, but it's not clear whether this is an individual (as in Ferrovax, the dragon at Bianca's party or another dragon) or a collective of dragons. Butcher also builds in a very nice future flex moment by saying "and other individuals of the same power etc.". It's a nice writerly moment there.

2) How does Nicodemus know this? He had Valmont steal the information about Harvey from the Fomor, but how does he know the vault security details down to the make of the vault door? Does Marcone have a traitor in his midst once more? Is it Ms. Demeter?

3) With Butters becoming a knight, doesn't he have to give up Bob? The skull is far too valuable to risk on expeditions out into the wild - especially now that Nicodemus/Anduriel know about Bob powering different vehicles/objects. The question then becomes - who gets Bob? Harry purposely put Bob far away from him due to the Winter Knight job. Molly is the new-ish Winter Lady. Is Bob due to make a peace talk with Mab in the next book? Or does Bob go to someone else - like Ebenezar?

4) What happened to Father Forthill and St. Michael's? He's seemingly disappeared from the story in Cold Days and Skin Game, along with Fitz and the others.

5) Uriel says that this Skin Game robbery is important because a soul is at stake. Who?

6) The Magog coin was in Iran when Sanya was there - six hours before Dresden saw the pictures. Then at some time in the next 10 or 12 hours, it got to the Genoskwa (by the way, do a google search on that name and enjoy). I think Sanya wasted Magog's carrier once more and the feathered bird Denarian used magical travel to meet up with Nicodemus once more and he dangled it in front of the gut shot Genoskwa to heal up fast. This brings up a couple questions -

a) if Magog and the Hyper-Chicken were in Iran and working for Nicodemus, wouldn't Lartessa Polonius then also be in on the plan Nicodemus gave them? That makes the Deirdre weirdness post-Tessa meeting very strange. Was this another "mother/daughter" moment in a screwed up way like Mab saying good-bye to Maeve or were they genuinely at odds with each other over Harvey?

:) What did the Genoskwa want from the vault? Money meant basically nothing to River Shoulders and presumably nothing to the Genoskwa. Was he hired muscle like Goodman Grey or was he working for something specific? We'll probably never know, given how thoroughly he got smashed in the Underworld.

I have to stop posting questions until I read the whole book.

Forgot for a bit that Magog and Ursiel are different and that Marcone and Mab set up the information leaks. The Tessa weirdness still stands.

And we need to use that Futurama Hyper-Chicken reference going forwards. It's like he's taken Goodkind's evil chicken and made it actually a useful bad guy.

I just remembered. In Turn Coat, we are told Nagloshi have to say near the sacred land of their people or they constantly lose energy and power. Could Greys Rent in some-way indicate that he struck a deal with his tribes people in ragards to staying on the sacred land.

1) Is Drakul not Dracula?

5)Nicodemus I think, his followes I think but also Dresden. I think its continuing the idea that harry needs the support of his friends to realize he is not a monster.

All we know about Drakul is that he's a free standing lord under the Accords, his son Dracula joined the Black Court in a fit of teenage rebellion, and he retained the Hellhound as his right hand for a few centuries. And that he's a badass. Ebenezer talks about him in Blood Rites post handburning mission.

I'm still way too jetlagged to get into it heavily, but I loved it! It didn't QUITE have the mind-blowing aspects of the COLD DAYS Outer Gates revelation...but it's up there...

...I'll comment on my fave scene. The quiet one with Harry reunitung with Mouse and Maggie...and his chat with his daughter, reduced me to a sobbing mess of tears. It was perfectly, and succinclty written. We sometimes forget that with all the baddass action that Butcher REALLY hasd a talent with quiet scenes as well.
