Any of our Canadian contingent here live in Toronto? Was just reading the stuff on Rob Ford, lol.

Who is he?

The Mayor of Toronto. He's currently being accused of/has been proven to have been taking crack cocaine, boozing, and hiring prostitutes, as well as sexual harassment. But he refuses to step down. In the latest episode, he told reporters on live tv that, with regards to a female employee, he did not want to 'eat her pussy as he had plenty to eat at home', being a happily married man ^_^

ha ha ha. "This is what I am doing and there's fuck all you can do about it!"

What powers do they have? Mayors, do they just assign budgets and stuff like that? If the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper??, wanted him out of office does he have that kind of power? Incidentally I have a friend called Steve Harper :(

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT MAKE THIS THREAD INTO ANOTHER ROB FORD GOSSIP BLOG.

I live far away from Toronto and I am dreadfully tired of hearing about Rob Ford's antics. Canadian media is absolutely saturating with coverage of every little thing he says or does - and it's been going on for weeks now. This thread is my only media escape!!!!

In all seriousness though, dude is royally fucked up. He is just digging his own grave at this point. Let's leave it at that in the Eclipse thread....................please :)

You don't live in London, Tatts. I stopped laughing at Boris a long time ago. One situation which hits me personally - London's chronic lack of housing - has not just been woefully mismanaged under his policies, but downright scandalously dealt with, such as selling off any potential land for housing to the highest bidder for more office developments.

If you ran for Mayor I would vote for you!!

On a more serious note, that is a tough job, one of the biggest cities in England, not much "space" as it is. Over populated and living conditions that are atrociously expensive for what they are, I see people in a one bedroom, one kitchen box room type of apartments that are paying easily £800 per week at a minimum. It is disgusting. My home in the North West would be over £2 million in London. Seriously, our country is messed up when it comes to property.

What makes you want to live there anyway Khell? Why not move up north?

Because when all is said and done, I absolutely love London. I love working here, I love being able to choose between a thousand different museums and galleries, theatres and clubs, restaurants and pubs and cafes. And at the moment, a lot of the resources found in London are a godsend to my work. Don't get me wrong, if in a few years I found a job elsewhere that was better for me, I would move, but man I would miss this place.

That should be enough deterent to keep you safe for the time being I think, CF.

It'll be interesting to see what oportunities will be provided next turn.

I know hey? I think I'll actually pay attention to what the other teams are doing this combat round.

And thanks for the cruiser donation. 3x starbases and 2x of your cruisers should be plenty to keep the hounds at bay.

So I'm sitting at 12 science income here now. Probably going to pick up some weapon tech next turn. Can't sit around blockading all game, right?

Or can we....could we actually win that way? Both research WH generators to keep it away from the others, then just devote all resources to monoliths until round 9? I could afford WH generator next round, and still have some left over to reinforce the chokepoint.

EDIT - there's also shellworld.

Sure you can win that way! It's probably the best way to win, in fact. Once you have WHGs, you can send a few ships through your borders to fight a bit and get rep tiles, but otherwise focus on racking up tech and adding points to your hexes.

Can do. Started to do it last night but thought I'd wait to add the moves from the UTCers.

Round 4 Action Phase

Turn 1

Spoiler

Turn 2

Spoiler

Turn 3

Tatts -
  • Upgrade Cruiser and Dreadnought, Improved Hull over normal hull.
  • Upkeep - 10
  • Bank $4,S0,M10
  • Production $15,S6,M4

Gnaw -
Build
  • 2 interceptors in Arcturus
  • $0, Sc 0, Ma 7
  • -10 upkeep.

Twelve - Provisional Influence

No I will have one adv material slot not populated. Don't populate 304 with an influence disk and colonize the adv material slot and I'll be good.
  • -remove influence disk on supernova
  • -return all three population cubes to materials
  • reset 2 colony ships 3 ships available.
  • -move influence disk from player board back to supernova
  • -populate 2 grey slots on supernova to science. use the last colony ship on the adv material slot on the supernova while we are at it.
  • (1$, 0S, 2M Upkeep -7

Imperial Historian -

  • BUILD 2 x cruisers in the hive hex
  • Upkeep -5 £0 S0 M1

Morgoth - Move - both cruisers to my single tier 2 system

CF
  • CONVERT 4 money to 2 materials.
  • BUILD Orbital in Psi Capricorni (or whatever it's called...up next to Arcturus and Alpha Centauri, NW of my homeworld),
  • populate with SCIENCE.
  • BUILD Starbase in Formahaut. POPULATE two advanced science slots, one on homeworld and one on Formahaut.
    • @Rules:
    • Not that I have anything to do with an extra colony ship just now, but does the above constitute a use of 2 or 3 colony ships? In other words, does building an orbital require a colony ship to populate it or does it populate by default? Has to be populated
  • I should add that my provisional move is incumbent on no aggressive action or posturing taken against me or my ally.

Tapper
  • I think the money cube from Aldebaran was moved to materials, instead.
  • fixed
  • Research Positron Computer and flip 3 colonyships for science, please - it should come with a discount of -3, and +3 science gained --> 10 - 5 + 3 = 8.
  • That also gives me a discovery tile, please - any ships/orbitals/warp portals et cetera are deployed in my homeworld should I keep them.
Description r4 Tapper magellan 4th tech discovery. 19 available
      Results 1#1d19: 1 # 19 [1d19=19]
    • Shard Hull - place over hull point on dread.
  • so I'd be at 5 money (+8 income), 8 science (+6 income), 6 materials (+6 income) at upkeep -7.

Khell
  • And Tapper sounds like he'll be researching, so I will say:
  • Turn 3: RESEARCH Neutron Bombs.
  • $0, S0, M13
D'rek

INFluence:
  • --move a disc from the influence track to Aldebaran
  • --move a disc from Delta Eridani to Phi Piscum (science cube goes back to population track)
  • --colonize Advanced Materials slot in Beta Lyrae
  • --colonize money slot in Phi Piscum
  • --colonize Advanced Materials slot in Aldebaran
  • --flip up two colony ships
  • --colonize Advanced Science slot in Aldebaran
  • --colonize Advanced Science slot in Phi Piscum

Turn 4

  • Bank $4,S0,M10
  • Production $15,S6,M4

Gnaw -

  • Move 2 interceptors from Arcturus to Epsilon Indi.
  • $0, Sc 0, Ma 7. -17 -13 upkeep

Twelve

  • Provisionally PASS
  • (1$,0S,2M Upkeep -7)

IH
  • move 2 x crusiers into twelves homeworld
  • Upkeep -7 £0 S0 M1
    • Return the diplomatic relations cube to the materials track, take the traitor card

Hmmm.

Hey, hippies. Seeing as how we're committed to ridding the galaxy of Twelve, why don't you all take a hard look at the Norwegian Ford consortium.

ah hell. I can't say that with a straight face. Morgoth and CF are basically our problem aren't they? *sigh*

Tatts, IH. Do you remember me saying something about a nasty little plan Twelve and I briefly discussed sometime during game 3? It was to run a ship far into somebody else's territory and drop a warp portal development on them.

While you two are discussing Twelve being trapped, there's a warp portal development just 8 mats away. He's passed so can't get it this round. But one of us is probably going to have to eat that turn 1 next round. I was considering getting it anyway, just not this soon. Dropping it onto my warp portal hex defuses the development and makes that hex worth another VP.

Khell, are you going to execute the master plan this round? Seems like the opportunity to do so is very good.

That's why I wanted that update ^_^ I'm going to wait till Tapper decides his move before my final decision. I'm out now anyway so it'll be a few hours before I study that board.

Alright, cool.

We could probably freely talk about it, given that just about everyone has passed or can't take further actions without going severely bankrupt... but let's not :(

Hopefully it's better than mine. The Iet's do everying possible to make it easy for someone else to eliminate you without bankrupting yourself plan.

I highly recommend it.

Morgoth if Gnaw grabs that warp development then he can't defend Arcturus from your attacks. 4 population cube planets ripe for the taking with a discovery tile and rep points all rapped into one. Yummy.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
