True, but just the points you'd get for a couple of Battles should provide you with about the same amount. Not to mention whatever benefits you reap from new systems.

Ok, you convinced me. What you have in mind for this round then?

Think there's any way we can net Tapper's homeworld with the resources & reactions available? It's pretty obviously the best bang for buck. By my estimation he has 1 move left before needing to bankrupt stuff (but also has some low value systems he probably doesn't mind bankrupting TBH). If he uses as many reactions as us then it could be an un-winnable fight. I'd need to take 2 reactions just to get there (or to build and subsequently move there), then whatever upgrades are necessary on top of that.

If we were to attack Tapper's homeworld, I would naturally assist you with a cruiser, which should be enough to deal with two fighters. I'll have to build some more defences first though, so if you move to 202, and I build a couple of starbases we'll have the option of reacting in different ways.

I am not sure that the generally piss-poor planets around my homeworld make for a very good long term acquisition, especially not for an empire that already has 6 discs on the board in better systems: most of them are 1 or 2-pointers only without the resources on them to make plonking down a disc on the system actually worth it.

I think moving on Gnaw with the idea of elimination is easier and gives a better yield in points/system as well as economic value per disc, with CF taking Morghy's emptied hexes. Might be wishful thinking, though :)

Tapper, while biased, does have a good point. We could make an incursion through that warp portal and put a mean hurt on Gnaw. Problem is, with D'rek sitting there on the other warp portal, we'd leave ourselves open PLUS we'd be competing for her likely target.

Nobody is competing for Tapper's home area at present, and capturing it doesn't leave us in a worse position, really. With the homeworld, there is still a chokepoint entry, plus that lovely layer of starbases behind the front lines.

Oh, a bit of rules trivia that I found interesting. Almost totally defensive but useful.

Species with starting techs can research those techs.

How is that possible? You can't research tech you already have.

Hah, what a completely skewed argument. Because CF and Morghy of course wouldn't get any VPs from attacking Gnaw and taking over his hexes (including your former juicy homeworld). Noooo, of course they wouldn't.

So here's another biased point of view. The Ghouly Group over there have committed themselves too much. D'rek can take Gnaw's northern provinces, and you guys can take his southern ones - and then he'll get what he's always wanted, being out of the game :) That, combined with hopefully a victory over Tatts at the warp portal, will be a crushing blow to one alliance, and then you guys can go back to your walling yourselves off while we beat on the door for the final round.

6 VPs from the southern warp portal hex and IH's former homeworld (also a homeworld much more defensible by you guys), or 3 VPs from Tapper's. Hmmmmm...

Are you sure? Have Grievance done their move?

IH stated that he would pass and Gnaw took that as his order so I think so.

So It's now Tatts Turn and I think he is going to influence Iota Boot licker.

So I'm going to

Action 5: Upgrade Dreadnaught
Place Plasma missiles and gluon computers over both Ion Cannons
(5$/0S/18M Upkeep -10)
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

D'rek, if Tatts throws another cruiser into the warp portal hex, I may need that interceptor help of yours you were offering.

Alright, noted. I'd be surprised if Tatts actually does that, though.

RESCIND MY MOVE for the moment.

D'rek, where do you think Gnaw plans to go with his interceptor(s)?

Also, can you still remove as many parts as you want in a reaction? i.e. I know you can only upgrade one thing, but removing parts doesn't count toward that right?

Think that one through. If removing a part counted and you only get one in a reaction.....

I'm going to try to figure out whose turn it is. And which turn. ;P

Yeah, you can remove as many parts as you want in a reaction UPG just like a regular one. I suspect Gnaw wants to move the interceptor in Lambda Aurigae to join the battle against you. He could just as easily done that with two moves than with an upgrade and a move, though. I guess he wanted to preserve the element of surprise (that we've just squashed) for 1 more turn, as I don't see him doing anything else. Khell, I don't think you can rescind though, since I had a prov in already and it became Tatts' turn. Not the same as if I had not yet put an action in when you rescinded.
