Hmmm ... well-mannered guy who can handle himself in a fight, is quite knowledgeable, well-travelled, but can't remember the last 200 years and has a mismatched companion to aid him in dealing with the present?

I dub thee "Icariumbod".

Four eps in.
The first three (premiere, fire witch, sandman) were steadily better but the fourth with the Hessians and Jenny Mills was atrocious... like they tried to hammer three eps worth of crap and a few spare bucks in the fx budget into one 44min ep and didn't have time to bother even trying to make it clever. Weak. really weak. Will keep watching on the strength of the first three, but wow that was bad.

Oh, I liked that one.

Mind you it's not a scratch on this weeks ep after the two-week break...which was excellent. Also, John fucking Noble is in it now. :)

Well, that does it. It's official. I have a crush on Crane.

Sorry, just had to confess.

You're not alone. Mrs. QT has had a crush on him since Episode 1. That crush has only deepened with each subsequent episode.

He is really quite charming though, so I understand why.

I have to say the actor and the direction really are doing a fun job with him.
I especially like how he reacts to modern stuff... throwing away a gun after one shot, spitaking RedBull.... the bit with OnStar in the 4th ep was hysterical.

Another SOLID ep, and I'm glad to see Chief Orlando Jones fully on board with the supernatural side of things, and not just assuming his staff is nutters. It's obviously kind of hard to ignore the Headless Horseman when he's winging war axes at your melon.

Is it just me of does Nicole Beharie (Abbie) get more badass with each ep? Love her character.

And Crane...man, I could watch that guy all day. He's just so great! This week's "historical guy in modern day" jokes were about water costing money...and I nearly peed myself when he stopped a random guy with a bottle of water and asked him if he paid for it...and internet porn....but oh my god I did a spit-take when he walked in on a guy talking incorrectly about Paul Revere's ride to a bunch of school children and absolutely reading him the riot act on the whole shebang with the real info ("...And he said "The regulars are coming". He wouldn't have said "The British are coming", since we were all British at the time, that would have been rather confusing, wouldn't it?")...followed by Abbie calling him her disturbed cousin Steve.

Oh. My. Gods. My Sides. LMAO!

I don't think I can properly explain my adoration of this show. It's my new BUFFY, my new FRINGE, my new LOST...my only CAN'T MISS IT tv.

EDIT: Oh, and in unheard of news (considering how FOX normally treats its serial shows) they've already renewed it for a second full season! :unworthy:

Agreed. It's like everything i like about FRINGE and GRIMM plus a headless guy who can fire machine guns.

The ratings digits have been solid. I'm not surprised, but EXTREMELY happy.

Good news about the renewal. Its the only show I'm watching in between Breaking Bad episodes, and I'm really enjoying it.

It is kind of a new kind of buffy/x-files (they have torches in unnecessarily dark places! ).. I like what they're doing with the directing, music and spooky stuff.

Need to catch up on a couple of eps though.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Note on the Music. Done by composer Brian Tyler, who is currently winning accolades for the score to THOR 2. :unworthy:

Just watched Ep 5. Loved the bit when he was trying to get into that package.. 'what is the impenetrable barrier around this instrument?'

Actually, this is more like Dresden than x-files. The collaboration with the police, with some discreet support in dealing with the supernatural kind of reminds me of Harry and Karin.

Maybe that's why I like it so much.

Finally all caught up.
The 'catch the horseman' episode was very nicely carried out, in terms of humor and action and even story.
Loved Abbie and the Capn schooling Icabod about Jefferson. Loved how it took Icabod about three minutes to find porn on the nenenet.

watched the pilot ep,, it's interesting enough for me to continue watching it,, and a few days to catch up before the newest ep on FOX,,
agree that Ichabod Crane, Abbie and Mr Chief (Orlando Jones) is the ones who carries this show,,
and i like the supernatural enough in this show,,
hope they will continue this strong until the season finale as i read here that they were renewed for another season,,

The captain disappears from the show for long periods of time, which isn't an awful thing because the two leads are very good.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

watched eps 2-4,, and i have to say it's getting better and better!!! i wouldn't have thought that i'll love this and with a few more episodes,, i'll be catching up pretty soon and in time for the latest ep on FOX,,

with every ep i'm getting to like Ichabod Crane and Abbie more and more,, their unusual partnership/friendship have been the strongest point of the show,, and the mysteries and the supernatural is good,, i love it,,

and i wouldn't have thought that i'll get to like not only Abbie but also her sister,, in a very special way,, i got teary-eyed when they talked at the end of ep 4,, that's nice drama,, and so intrigued with how they BOTH play to the bigger picture,,

now to watch eps 5-8,,

:)

Agree. I called the first twist at the beginning. But yeah, watching them deal with the Horseman Though possessed black-eyed John Cho....totally awesome.

Also, the fist bump thing was funny.

Whoever did the black-eyed Cho voice deserves a raise. It was awesome.

And yeah, fist bump was funny. Abby's expression of 'holy shit look what we did' was perfect.

Also liked Irwin and Jenny's reactions to the Horseman.

already caught up to the latest ep,, and now to say what you all pointed was true,, since the first time they said the name,, you would sort of have an idea,,

i just wish Captain Irving saw Andy Brookes (sp?) so it could add more fun and would have made the captain believe more,,

now waiting for ep 9,, :)

Solid ep last night. Went to a few places i didn't see coming and the usual solid performance by Ick and Abbie.

Have to give the show credit for doing a haunted house ep that takes place almost entirely during daylight and still managing to make it mostly work... albeit more than once i was just think 'there's a window RIGHT THERE'. I liked the plot point for Crane and how it linked back to Abbie.

The Jenny/Irwin thing is a bit odd but workable.
