I was in the camp of Heath Ledger as Joker - epic fail!
Learnt from that, pretty happy with the choice myself I can see it working, especially after his performances in Argo and The Town.
Will give the guy a chance...

The difference between Heath Ledger and Ben Affleck was that Ledger was very early in his career and had already started to show his range in a few really good roles, but not that many people had seen them.
Whereas Affleck is the knownest of quantities.

I think that a completely serious and grim Batman played across a young and idealistic Superman would make a for a greater film than a wise cracking and goofy batman teaming up in a buddy cop superhero movie.
And yes, I would prefer THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS where you get to see Batman curb stomp superman.

Listing daredevil is now a plus point in Affleck's favour?
when did this alternative universe swallow me up?
I like affleck, I actually do, but off the back of Nolans critically acclaimed batman he is simply the wrong choice.

I thought Daredevil was a good film. Especially the Directors Cut version. Never understood people's issues with it.
For me, I'd list it as better than Spiderman 2002, Iron Man 3, Hulk 2008 and Captain America. Maybe Iron Man 2 as well. And hey, as much as I like Nolan's films, maybe now we may get a Batman who doesn't sound as if he has throat cancer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually an Affleck fan. Leaving out shit like Bounce an Forces of Nature, he was Great in Chasing Amy, Smokin Aces, Argo, the Town, Good Will Hunting, etc.
BUT, Batman he is not.

I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Nah, Ledger had done a spat of romantic comedies and bit part secondary characters for a number of years. He wasn't a household name or anything, but he was certainly not at the beginning of his career.
He's the perfect example as he literally ONLY had BROKEBACK on his resume till that point that would make him worthy of Joker. Everything else he'd done at that point was fluff. And he nailed that shit.

He'd also got extremely solid reviews for his performances in Ned Kelly, Lords of Dogtown and in particular Candy, but that's pretty much my point. He'd done a few of the big, safe romcoms and things that got his name out, and was just getting to the stage where he could get a bit picky with his projects and stretch his acting chops. He'd only really been known for six or seven years at the time, not too long in leading man terms. He was just beginning that Leonardo DiCaprio/Matthew McConaughey phase where he was beginning to prove he's not just a bland pretty face.
Affleck's at a completely different place and has had the opportunity to prove himself time and time again. And while, like I say, I totally don't mind him as an actor, I don't see Batman in him.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

The amount of fucking petitions thrown up by petulant manchildren about this has made me reconsider - fire Henry Cavill, Matt Damon as Superman
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

The main gripe with this is people not being able to imagine Affleck as Batman, while acknowledging that hes a good actor. How many people thought Daniel Craig would make a good Bond? There was a huge uproar about that before it happened yet it worked. Same for Heath Ledger who apart from Brokeback mountain only had a handful of solid reviews for his performances and shite romcoms as other have said. Im not massively positive but at the same time im not condemning it either. If you said Ben Affleck when they were rebooting it in 2005 with him coming off the back of Gigli and Surviving Christmas then id be on the bandwagon but hes not a bad actor especially in Argo.
I did read on i09 or somewhere like that that Bryan 'motherfucking Walter White' Cranston has signed to play Lex Luthor though for like ten films. Kind of like Nick Fury in the Marvel bunch where hes there but not the main thrust of the film. Cant find the link though so dont know how to confirm it.
Maybe Affleck will knock on Cranstons door for some acting tips but I doubt it... as Cranston is the one who knocks...

I think that David Craig is a bad example because I think he would be an awesome Batman. David Craig plays James Bond as a violent psycopath and he looks the part. He looks thoroughly intimidating and he actually emanates the threat of violence just standing around but he is also able to be charming and humorous. Perfect fit for Bruce Wayne and Batman.
Ben Afleck is about as terrifying as Woody Allen.

Also, Bryan Cranston cast to play Lex Luthor. Any bitchin and moaning to be had about that one?

I thought he was a crappy bad guy in the Total Recall remake. As long as they avoid that, I'll be happy.

Where is that internet butthurt coming from, really? It's not like Ben Affleck is a bad actor, and even those who hate the decision usually agree with that. So if he is a good actor, and he is, then he can get into the role, right? So, what seems to be the goddamn problem? Also, as much as I liked Nolan's trilogy, Bale was actually its weakest point. Every time he spoke with this ridiculous Batman voice i laughed histerically. So it will actually be pretty nice to see someone with a different take on the dark knight. Though I don't really expect the Justice League thing to work out well.

LAST OF THE MOHICANS was weak and THE AGE OF INNOCENCE was grounds for self-harm.
