Yah. I liked everything they did do (except maybe Shae, which made less sense given the less ambiguous relationship), but it was missing a couple puzzle pieces. I suppose they let Michelle Fairley have a full year off contract-wise. All this means is that people complaining about "no Lady Stoneheart" are gonna ruin it for non-readers (I'm talking about media/writers here, not like people here just talking). The Brienne/Hound fight was the best.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

If non-readers would stay away from book-reader spaces they wouldn't get spoiled. :) And from here on out it will get harder for us to spoil them. I expect a lot of changes and a lot of original filler.

Well, what I mean is I've already seen headlines that included a "No Lady Stoneheart" lament. But oh well, hopefully it won't mess people up.

I'm processing the Shae thing, maybe it wasn't so bad (story-wise; obviously it was brutal regardless). They both clearly panic and Tyrion doesn't want to get caught (or knifed), so while it's horrendous it's not the misplaced revenge of the book so much as Tyrion at his most desperate.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Some thoughts on this episode.
I was not disappointed by Stannis' entry. Loved it - especially when the grand sweeping shot showed the second force coming from behind, a total curb stomp. We also got the beginning of Franken Gregor, which is nice. Dany chained the dragons ...... I still think it's a dumb move and good luck learning to control them now. The skeleton fight was fun, I'm surprised they killed Jojen - I also don't mind/care since this plot line never interested me (also this part of the story is from Dance with Dragons so whatever we'll see of this plot next season will be brand new). The fight between Sandor and Brienne was good, very brutal (poor Pod, so not suited to traveling). Arya leaving the Hound was also a good scene, I like how cold she was. Tywin's death was also a good scene.

I think this was my second favorite episode this season (the other being last week's episode).
The meaning of life is BOOM!!!

The Brienne v Hound fight was brilliant. FFS they kicked each other in the nads!

Jojen... well, now we know the book gloves are right off, to say nothing of Varrys hitting the road (seas) with Tyrion.

Not perhaps the most retarded sentence written on this forum of all time, but it will certainly be a contender for this year's winner.

Stannis' arrival was B - A - W - S - E! He continues to be my favorite ASoIaF character. Near absolute conviction with flexibility when needed. How can you not admire that?

FrankenGregor!

Cersei and Jamie as depicted on the show continues to puzzle me.

Impressive looking CGI on the dragon chaining scene. That was likely one fifth of the entire season's budget right there.

OK so Bran can warg into Hodor, but how does that make him a capable hammer-fighter that can block skeleton sword slashes? Oh yeah, cuz this is TV.

Jojen will be back...in zombie form.

Did the Child of the Forest remind anyone else of Alia from David Lynch's Dune?

Hello, Bloodraven.

They should have just called this show Game of Whatever We Feel Like Doing, cuz no matter how badass that Brienne-Sandor fight was (and it was the single best fight in the whole entirety of the show, even better than Oberyn-Gregor), the show is so far removed from the source material now that I barely recognize it.

I guess it doesn't matter where whores go.

Re: Varys on the boat, for all we know he could have been on the boat in the books and then returned to King's Landing to take care of his own business later. 'Tis a narrow sea, the Narrow Sea is.

all in all, I really love this show, but I hate the changes from the books. It would be nice to get it as it was written, but then the written part isn't quite finished yet, is it? So changes are made and things seem wonky, but I'm sure that it will all be fine in the end. Its just a show, and I'm not so bothered by it that it blinds me from the enjoyment.

This last season was great and I'm looking forward to next year to see what happens, even though, in the books, not much happens. At least of the violencey stuff. lots of political maneuvering, Euron+Victarion+Kingsmoot, back to Winterfell. Actually, I guess a lot does happen.
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

Because he's an inflexible pretenscious self-righteous douch?

YAY!

So glad they kept this in, and made it clearer that the books did.

Dunno... we saw his eyes start to change and then Leaf nuked him from orbit.

Hello, Bloodraven.

Still think he should have looked weirder. Needed the root through the brains thing.

This is NOT a bad thing.

It was vague, but certainly seemed like he was leaving as opposed to just sitting around. Not like he can't go back in time for the scene at the end of DANCE.

Whereas i am totally comfortable with the changes from the books, most of which have been improvements (not all, but most) which make me optimistic that some of the massive gaping problems with FEAST and DANCE will be avoided... We don't need thirty eps of Dany sitting in Mereen or Jon sitting on the Wall. We need three, then move the story the fuck along.

That. That was a frigging awesome episode.

No mention of Tyrions wife, but hey... we got Brienne, Arya and the Hound. That, for me, is where the show became better than the book. For me, this is a damn good edit, cutting out of a lot of material that just wasn't flowing well at that point in the books.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I think GRRM killed the Tysha plotline for the show creators with the ad nauseam "Where do whores go?" and "she's been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know..." in Tyrion's and Jamie's heads respectively. Also, good riddance to "a girl of three and ten".

I'm pretty glad no Stoneheart either... she just seems out of place in the books. If B and W can't find a decent role for her I hope she gets cut entirely.

It's weird to me anyone has formed a strong opinion on her at all. Besides being kind of a creepy shock and confirmation that R'llhor has his limits, she's barely in the story so far. She's a potential.

I'm still confused about the surprise death of Jojen.. Does this mean what a lot of people already suspect - that Jojen may already be dead? He must not play a significant part from here on out anyway.
I was really impressed with Arya in this episode. She's stone-cold now, like she is in the books. She was straying a bit too far into "comic whiney-kid sidekick" for my liking.

If Maisie Williams doesn't win an Emmy soon, the world is wrong. She and Peter Dinklage OWN that show.

That emphasis on Dany turning her dragons into 'slaves' was nice too.
