So twelve are you still going to grab the key? My alliance of sorts still stands, if you can assure me them I can pin that ship.

I guess it depends on if you actually follow through with your end. If you don't pin her ship I have zero incentive to believe you plus you already proved this game that you can't really be trusted so lie to me and I will grab the artifact key as I would be horribly idiotic of me not to do so. But if you do attack her I'll grab something else, probably a source. It basically boils down to if you trust me or not.

Betray your current ally to prove you are trustworthy!

Tatts has already proven to be more suited to playing as the pirates than CF has this game so yeah I'm not going to believe much that comes out of his mouth. I'm going to let his actions do his talking for him. If he commits his ships then he's commited as I don't see you backing out of a fight with him the way Gnaw did so I know that he will have his hands full for more than a round. Otherwise it's just a bunch of hot air and I know he's got something else up his sleeve so I need to grab the materials to prepare for whatever it is.

I'm not looking for another fight or more territory. Heck, I offered you diplo a round or two ago. I'll just be working to hold what I have, or lose minimal amounts of it anyways, but pushing outwards from my current position would be foolish, I just aim to hold. So I don't know about keeping his hands full. One of his dreads can pretty much take on any two of my ships at the moment, I would say, so with the artifact key materials he'll have plenty to dedicate elsewhere if he wants to.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Well the deal was he would focus on one half of the map while I focus on the other. If he doesn't use those resources to finish the job then I'm the fool. But when he starts building ships, if they aren't positioned in Eta Geminorum or possibly in Gnaw's homeworld for possible defense I'll know the truth and should have enough resources to do something about the betrayal.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Gah, for some reason my Ipad won't display the board, and I won't have my computer till Monday. Rather than making you guys wait I'll throw in a pointless move.

MOVE Cruiser and Interceptor to Delta Eridani.

Here's the prototype simple board.

  • How does it load on phones and tablets?
  • The four completed hexes in the lower left:
    • How's the type?
    • Are the lines thick enough, too thick, etc?
    • Colors ok?

All comments welcomed. Am I wasting my time?

If this looks good, is there interest in player boards along the same idea?
Spoiler

Edit: Meh. Now that it's loaded I can see I need to add a white background.

It doesn't load on my tablet but that might be a problem with me, as CF's board definitely used to work on my tablet, but for whatever reason now does not.

The thing is all the other tabs still work - like the exploration hexes one - it's just the map and boards which doesn't load (I get a question mark in a little blue box instead).

On my ipad and iphone both I have to use the link. Touch and "open image" (Safari) or "open in new tab" (chrome).

I'm thinking about this decision. I don't see how twelve would have forgot to research and I don't know if he is bull shitting or not.

Tatts. He proposed an unofficial alliance to Twelve based on the conditional that Twelve wouldn't research Artifact Key. Twelve changed his action from that exact provisional to a build action.

Shortly, and i mean within 10 minutes or less, after Twelve posted the build action Tatts decided that Twelve should have used science to research something else so that Twelve wouldn't be able to afford the Atrifact Key this round. I.e. he added a second conditional to the alliance deal. However CF had already put in an action.

In return Tatts is supposed to attack D'rek's single ship before it can move anywhere. Since she cannot build any more this round, Tatts is guaranteed to take the system from D'rek.

Tatts: wants further assurances from Twelve that he will not research the AK. Twelve changed this rounds action from that to a build. But Tatts still isn't trusting Twelve.

Twelve: Likes the idea of Tatts going off to fight D'rek. So he changed this turns actions. But now, with the addition of the second conditional, Twelve is smelling a rat. So before he uses his science for something else, such as a source, he wants Tatts to commit by putting a dread in D'rek's system.

D'rek: Just wants to be left alone to finish off Morgy, get some breating room, and decide what to do round 6 forward. So she is understandably trying to derail the Tatts/Twelve allianceish move.

Now, why did you get a diplomatic summary instead of the straight answer.

You need to pay attention to those three. If Tatts and Twelve work out their agreement, you need to get a wormhole generator or jump drive to get out of your rabbit hole.

Tapper would probably prefer to leave you alone, but you're making war noises and currently only have one way out. Through Tapper. And you don't have the resources to defeat Tapper.

If I were in your boots, I'd flip all three ships for science and Pass.

Addendum: you need another way out of your hole period. Generator or jump drive are preferrable because they allow you to move out but others can't move in unless they have one of those.

There is a third option. The Warp Portal development. That one is dangerous because it let's others come to you. But I suggest that Tapper and you could both benefit by you having a warp portal. If Tapper would let you have hex 310 Nu Phoenicis on condition that you put the portal there and drop a couple of starbases on it you both gain. You get a way out. He gains you as a defender of his territory instead of an antagonist.

He can build the wormhole in his own territories if he wants to build one, and I for one would welcome it. I have no hostile intentions against SS, as can be seen by me leaving that system empty so far, but I refuse to give him my one hex with materials on it to compensate for... what exactly? That he didn't leave himself another exit?

Not to mention that it is also next to my home world.

Frankly, since that whole fleet build-up began, I've been quite of a mind to dump a shitload of ships on Nu Phoecinis as a deterrent but figured that would instead likely be the spark to set off the fireworks.

Oh, I am certainly pleased with your action, though I do think you would have benefited more going one turn earlier. Still, it makes my position potentially surviveable.

I have a hard time understanding your reluctance though. Even without twelve's guarantees you stand to win much while simoultaneously striking a serious blow at one of your two main rivals. It's a natural move I would think.
