I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Wow I go away for a few days and all hell breaks loose. SS and tapper just need to start a war now, and twelves inevitable march to victory will be ready to go (i can't quite believe you are all letting him grab the double ancient tile and another discovery).

In case you haven't noticed, I've been a little busy of late. But soon my Machiavellian machinations shall see the end of the Rho Indi vermin, and the return of the squids to the warm blue seas of Beta Hydri!

Yep. Why do you think I've been influencing so many times this round?

Edit:

I was hoping Tatts would have made a play for it as well with two Dreads so I could have the added benefit of setting him back a couple of rounds but alas he must have seen it coming and ran the other way.

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Because that's the best way to decide which of the other predators is going to be your prey this round?

@Gnaw,

I won't chase you in any way, shape or form if you simply withdraw your cruiser from Beta Sextantis Gnaw. As far as I'm concerned your cruiser is just passing through. The one in the other hex is toast of course, but I'll grant you the other if you want to hold it in reserve against GP.

Think carefully on your last move. Neither Khell nor I will tolerate this type of incursion in our corner of the board. We have our own silly battles to fight without you getting all greedy.

Not only do I tolerate it, but I'm the one who invited him in to join our little get-together.

Actually that brings up a point I wanted to make about the game pieces.

The races of Eclipse are particularly un-scary looking. The terran union lady is only scary cause she's ugly as sin, and the terran directorate guy looks like someone that might get beat up on the bus in gradeschool. The hydrani have stupid anteater noses...the Orion look constipated, exiles look like they're wearing a bad halloween costume, the Mechanema look more stuck-up than aggressive, Rho indi look to be contemplating their next awful pickup line at the bar, and don't even get me started on the planta furballs.

I'd say the only that have even a hint of fear-inducing quality are the Eridani (if they didn't look so hunchbacked) and the Descendents. The rest are just meh.

As always, the Terran Union wishes it to be known to all speices of the galaxy that we are a peaceful people and wish to be friends with all. This galaxy is big, we can all explore for the rest of our lives and not begin to find all the treasures, species, and resources.

Our recent, unfortunate misunderstanding with the Rho Indi has led to a promised return of the noble Hydran to their home waters. The Terran Union wishes it known that the congress has voted to create a new medal just for this occasion: The Siren's Song which will be awarded to the ruler of the squids, er, the ruler of the Hydrans. We wish the Siren of HHM* further health and good fortune.

We also wish it to be known that we do not consider the Magellan visitor to our home system as a hostile gesture. As much as we enjoy state visits, we urge the Magellan to reconsider their recent outburst of bellicosity and to return to their own borders.

It is sad that the future of our two species lies in the hands of the Khan Morgoth. Once he has voiced his words, we fear that the chaos of war shall descend on this prosperous section of the galaxy.

*We are given to understand that the meaning of HHM has been lost to history but is some sort of heritage.

Just curious, and speaking 100% as a mod (for reals)

were you two planning for Gnaw to attack off-board? We agreed at the start of the game that there would be none of that, since alliances are not allowed.

I just feel like I have to ask, but I'm not accusing anybody of anything.

If not, no harm no foul. If yes, then still no harm no foul, but please keep plans in-thread in the future.

I did say this below a couple of days ago:

So you're all aware - I am currently begging/threatening physical violence to Gnaw off-thread to invade CF.

I...worded things carefully to Gnaw. I made sure never to suggest what strategies or moves he should make, but I did give him various scenarios wherein it would be advantageous to him to invade your territories (for example, "Oh, CF won't be able to use more than 2 interceptors against you, because he'll need all the other ships against me").

So...it was a thin line that was probably crossed. I would say I gave him the initial inspiration, but he came up with exactly what he was going to do without me adding input to that. I did encourage him every time he wavered though, which was probably too much.

I probably went too far outside of the spirit of the game, and I accept all responsibility/penalties etc. But the old mafia habits die hard, and I soooo wanted to keep existing as a species on the board!

Khell. Dude, you can't be a little bit pregnant.

Some time during round 2 he cried for me to save him and I bit. I've been letting him talk me into stupid shit since my second game of mafia.
He encouraged me but I went willingly. So blame and approbation falls on me equally. Anyone who wants to see the conversation just holler.

I shall feign outrage at the idea that i would plan such a shoddy operation. The goal was to get you to give him some breathing room. But then I got greedy. Literally one hex too far.

It's fine. I would not call what you describe a blatant infraction of the house rule at all. Not even that much of a bend.

I'm talking about the situation where a player is coordinating exactly what they're going to do like:

"ok imma gonna do dis, then you do dis, then imma gonna do dis, then you do that, and he's trapped!"

But that's not what happened so carry on.

@Gnaw,

One hex too far, but you can still pull back and reserve that cruiser for next round. I'm not going to pursue it if you do. I don't really care about Kappa whassisface and Rho Indi, and would rather ensure you lose both cruisers. That way you have less with which to defend yourself as GP begins his inorexable creep into terran space.

I'd like the opinion of the rest of the players. And none of the, "CF is the mod so whatever he says goes.". If somebody has an issue with this situation I will defer to that person.

I'll pull it. I'm assuming that you can't go below -30, right?
I have to do an influence action next turn to be able to keep taking actions..

I am fine with what happened and don't think it is different from what is already happening wijth all the trash talk and suggestions flying around (attack Player X now, he's too powerful! ). If we want a full non-alliance game, the thread should be moves only, imho - this is imho just a game without the alliance mechanic.

I'm okay with it, I was wanting to tell someone about my upcoming moves and have been practically bursting with enthusiasm. I'm just glad it's out. I couldn't say on thread because Gnaw wouldn't have wasted 15 materials elsewhere. He's only left with 11 which is 3 starbases our something like that.easy enough for my dreads

Just to clarify, after I beat the ships in Gnaw's homeworld, I roll a dice to destroy population, as long as I do not roll a 1 I will destroy all 4 of his planets. So to be certain of this I should throw another dread into the mix because the likelihood of rolling two 1's is slim.
