@CF You can cut down on the size of your initial setup file dramatically by deleting all the extra stuff. You don't need 10 plasma cannon tiles; copy and paste is your friend.

The reason for that is that it's the proper distribution of starting techs.

To keep things simple, I arrange all the techs in rows of 10 for easy indexing. Then I do a random sample without replacement (in Matlab) of, say, 12 numbers.

Then I grab the techs corresponding to those 12 numbers and voila! Randomly sampled techs. I did the same for all the hexes, VP tiles and all the discoveries etc...

@All

Working on playerboards for next round now.

OK, last thing:

Not sure why he didn't see it (probably because of 10 million posts yesterday) but when I awarded the ion turret I posted a description. Same post where I awarded the flux shield to Twelve IIRC.

SS needs to instruct me RE the use of Ion turret, but that doesn't affect what happens with the supernovas and hive so.....

Gnaw's supernova rolls [3,2], no bonus = 5. Does not explode
Khell's supernova rolls [1,3], +2 bonus = 6. Does not explode
Ancient hive rolls [3] - Ancient moves to Kappa Scorpii, an unclaimed hex.

I am going second. Hence the plasma cannons grab.

Sorry, got confused and frustrated at the end of the day yesterday and couldn't remember.

Fresh start now.

I will start processing provisionals in a bit so that folks have a chance to look at the board update and check that it all looks correct. I think, based on upkeep, that I got it right this time.

Tatts, have you considered all the juicy systems of D'rek that now will be completely defenceless? I'm hardly entirely without bias in this setting, but I imagine that you'll benefit more in the long run from attacking the strongest military threat of the region at a time when she's in no position to defend herself, rather than acquiring one mid-value system from me.

If D'rek holds me at bay this round she'll be much stronger, and most likely be able to tech up some with whatever appears next round.

I have no neutron bombs and I think if you had picked the neutron bomb absorber that D'rek may have left you alone as her neutron bombs wouldn't work on your systems. If I commit to D'rek then Twelve or Gnaw would easily take oer what I have. To help you I was going to move my influence from 107 so that D'rek can get through to the centre without breaking diplomatic relations. Not saying that she will but it is a move i'd consider if she wanted it.

Those double ancients are going to be taken over soon whether it be by Twelve, CF or myself. I am hoping Twelve leaves them to me this round but if he jumps in I could be in trouble.

To be honest Morg, I don't have a plan past the round I am in. I know I can make 4 moves roughly this go, give or take a go.

Why would D'rek withdraw her cruiser to the centre, spending several discs on movement, instead of just building new units in hex 103?
And why would she leave Morghy free to retake his system and some of hers?

Why would I attack D'rek and leave myself a lot weaker and vulnerable? Your reasoning is sound. I just don't want to attack her. What are you going to do? You attacking someone yet?

I think you are going to the route of little space but lots of power, monoliths, orbitals etc.

Neither the hive nor the supernova have been rolled.

I didn't see a ship, but he was pretty excited once twelve explained it to him. So I'd say he kept it for a part not VP's.

@GC

You can apply the turret on my cruiser in the place of a Hull.
