What are you talking about? I got an ancient orbital on an empty hex, worthless, I also got the free tech tile too but was able to grab Starbases from it so am not complaining and I now got the most worthless ship part available. The first two games that someone drew it the part never made it onto a ship. I probably could have put it on my Starbases or Dreads but the energy drain is too much for me to afford for the forseeable future. So again now worth anything other than two free points.

Flux shield and ion turret both look grand to me. Morghy got a treasure trove. I got nothing but empty space, ancients and ancient hives (neither of which I had enough resources to take on). Supernova hex is the only good thing that's happened to me, and that's going to blow up in my face at some point the way this is going.

So let me moan in peace, thank you :) I'm in a foul mood, I want to strike out at my Eclipse neighbours and instead they're all fully capable of running over me five times each without breaking sweat. Joke joke joke joke joke absolute joke.

And watch, I guarantee that an ancient will fly out of that hive through the single opening onto a hex I control. 1 in 6 chance, it'll happen.

Sorry, my competitive nature lashes out when facing humiliating defeat, and also unfortunately refuses to acknowledge any defects in its own play.

I want to play as Hyrdani again. I have new tactics in mind that do not involve turtling.

At least you don't have to worry about your supernova blowing.

I'm having a problem with my OP. when I look at my turn, it's seems that I never populated Sinies the pulsar system with a materials cube. Yet at the end of round 2 I had a materials income of 4. It should have been 3 really.
To be honest, I'm a little bit confused. As far as I was aware I had 2 science cubes and 2 materials cubes on the board. Giving me an income of 4 each.

Can anyone take a look at it for me please?

also @ Gnaw,

And rememeber you're going for victory points, not conquest. My clear path to VPs is combat and capture of systems worth more than my 0VP starting system, not having enough material for the alternatives (monoliths). Khell was the weakest opponent in reach, so i went that way.

For you, combat and system capture outright might not be the answer. Twelve is looking pretty awesome in terms of VPs right now, and if system capture can't get you enough VPs then knocking down the leader is the best plan B you've got.

That's how last game turned out. Me and Twelve were strong millitarily and economically, but lacked the VPs of Khell's shrines. Only option in round 9 was to make a massive play not for capture of systems, but to remove as many VPs as possible from him.

At the same time IH and D'rek were trying to do the same to us so we couldn't pull ahead of Khell despite our efforts, and almost surpassed us as a result.

So in planning what to do with that stockpile, turtling and monolith building is a great option. If you want a more "interesting" late game for yourself then a big military and murder some shit with it.

TBH I am probably the weakest sucker in your reach, where I'm already in combat with Khell.

Tapper can put up an excellent defense in a hurry if pressed, and GP's +4 computer 5-init dreads are mega scary. Much moreso if he gets decent weapon tech next round. So the argument could be made for a preemptive strike on GP to stave off a massive murderfest later on, or trying to mow me down at the possible expense of getting too far from home with GP and Tapper poised to strike.

@Khell

Are you quitting?

Of course he's not quitting. There's always the possibility CF will fuck up.
And I should point out something you all are ignoring. Or at least not commenting on.
Tapper has a problem. SS only has one wh out of his system. And the SneakySlimy is doing pretty well for himself. But unless he gets another way out Tapper is effectively pinned.

I haven't actually looked at your OP but by just looking at the map you have, before influencing the latest hex, 7 population slots settled. You also have 1 diplomacy tile with a population cube used as well. Plus at the beginning of the game you were able to discard a cube of your choice. So you should have 8 population cubes removed from your player board. As your board only has 8 cubes removed everything at first glance looks fine.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

By my count your production is at 8,6,6. Don't forget you discarded a cube at game start.

@SS

And notice the latest board update is prior to you giving me instructions on what to do with Chi Draconis. Your production is 2 cubes lower on money and science as a result. I have added those cubes in the working file.

Should somebody pony up the materials for the warp portal development, let me be the first to welcome you to the Benevolent Order of the Portals and extend an offer of ambassador exchange. And point out that CF cannot do the same.

Uh. You can't either. You are only allowed 3 ambassador exchanges. You are already maxed out.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

CF I was looking over the expansion rules and defeating the ancient Dreadnaught allows me to draw 3 reputation tiles. You only drew 2 for me. Also Don't I draw one just for winning the fight too? That one I need to look into. At the very least would you mind drawing one more on the slim hope that I get a four tile instead of a three?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Just at a quick glance something seems wrong. 8,6,6 is 10 cubes down. But 7 population slots settled, plus 2 new planets, plus diplomacy, plus discarded cube is 11 cubes, so something must have disappeared somewhere. In any case I'm pretty sure your income has not been underestimated.

Re Vp tiles, you get 1 for being in a battle, plus one for interceptors, starbases or ancients destroyed, 2 for cruisers and 3 for dreads.

So twelve would draw 4, CF would draw 2, D'rek 2, Morgoth 2 and SS 3
