Ok, so khell passes, and I'm not sure what Gnaw is doing now. Are you passing or doing that upgrade?

The only benefit to doing an upgrade right now as I see it, is ensuring that your starbase has the components you want in case you need to build one. It isn't that you can't afford the reactions, but if you pass up on it now, we might all pass before you're able to construct sufficient defenses.

Tapper passed, morgoth will likely pass, twelve will likely pass and I will also likely pass. If all that comes to pass then the final pass passes us on to the combat phase regardless of who went last during the action phase.

Passably Clear? Posted Image

Upgrading now instead of passing, you'd waste money and might not get the chance to build a starbase at all if the other players pass first.

I am out for dinner so can't review the thread. My pass was unconditional, but I might want to take a reaction and move a ship depending on the situation.

I specified the players it goes for, but I didn't want to name the trigger as that would be an advantage to the other players it went for (they could avoid it).

Basically, I am considering attacking Rho Indi depending on how many ships CF has moved.

I moved em all. You're clear to move in....and I figured you would.

I'd just like to point out you have way bigger fish to fry than me. I'm not much of a threat, and all of my stupid worlds have stupid science planets.

Gnaw on the other hand has some very lovely material planets and a supernova hex (that is not likely to explode yet) with 2 grey planets ripe for conquest.

Plus if you're going to betray him, you might as well get it over with early. You're not likely to keep the traitor card for long the way this game is headed.

Well without Neutron bombs, better drives or stronger cannons one reaction won't net you anything unless you attack Gnaw's warp portal hex but then that would also cost you a lost population cube because of the traitor card so even that is a wash at best or a net loss most likely.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Need a loan? I can offer moral support and the assurance that all I want to do is bottle that warp portal up at some point and turtle, turtle, turtle. Just because CF is trying to symp me doesn't mean I'm scum. :p

No just telling it like it is. I don't care either way as long as he doesn't attack me. And even that wouldn't greatly hurt me as I wouldn't lose a hex.

I suppose I could colonize that science planet in the WH hex... That would put his chances at 43%.

If he used the interceptor. Chances very poor if he used the cruiser.

It's not the end of the world if he does win it anyway I guess; I won't lose the game because of it...but it's kind of a shitty prize considering the cost of the reaction + influence (if he decides to do that).

EDIT - on second thought, it's a better prize than Gnaw's hex.

But then again, might be better to wait for the ability to make full moves and then just swoop in to crush me next round. Tapper is very dangerous with hsi material production at 6 and decent builds for both cruiser and interceptor.

Since you're doing calculations, let me toss another one at you: Khan Morgoth, the Hegemony's tyrannical D'rek, or SS Ponyboys. Warp Portal developement. And none of them would have to break diplomacy to use it.

That back door suddenly looks more like a screen door than a storm door does it not? D'rek is unlikely. But that might be the Khan's only option in a round or two.

Warp portal might become an issue, yes. I'm not sure what those 3 have in mind.

SS probably hasn't planned much beyond the double ancients tbh, but his only option is then to develop a warp portal and pursue one of us, or to attack tapper. He doesn't have access to any other hexes unless he can cobble together enough science to research half-portal technology.

EDIT

As for d'rek and morgoth, Morgoth's moves are more or less figured right now with those nagging ancients. D'rek might actually be able to nab Morgoth's homeworld with her uber-hull cruiser!

I mean, the thing is basically a dreadnought, and it has 1 shield....very tough for Morgoth to kill, even if he pulls his dread.

Tapper, the above comment should in no way influence your attack on CF. D'rek is after the center. SS, if he's going to attack you doesn't need the warp portal. And the Khan is a nice guy who is going to settle for 6th place and wouldn't dream of attacking you.

Except that Morgoth not only has two ships in the hex with one ancient, but his cloaking device means he could move *both* of those ships out of it. So, yes, I could backstab him and send my Cruiser at him, but then it would die a swift death against his orbital + dreadnaught + interceptor :p

Ha, totally forgot about those two critical details. Glad I'm not playing you...I'd have been screwed!
