I don't get it.

What was the mix-up?

I don't know either but if the results are the Pirates are only stuck at 2 science I'm A okay with it.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I am still having a hard time figuring out exactly what I screwed up. It was somewhere between board post 14 post 13(the pre-combat post) and my shufflings afterward. I realized mistakes on other playerboards too, but they were easier to figure out.

I was panicked because I thought there was no way to recoup my -17 upkeep even though I'd had a plan to recoup it since action round 4. I thought I made a major mistake, panicked, reissued orders, then went back to the record to see how I fucked up so bad.

Turned out the screw up wasn't in my planning, but in the way I had shuffled things around post-combat. I think a science and moneycube got put in the wrong place and it looked like I would not be able to get the 10 money production I needed to make it through the round without essentially bankrupting myself out of the game.

I reconstructed the Rho Indi economy from the beginning of round 1 (following my turns one by one) just to make double sure the mistake wasn't made earlier in the round. As of board update 14 13 things were correct, so I can only assume I messed something up post-combat.

Anyways, it doesn't matter. Straightened up now. Moves from me are final now, though I'm happy enough if anybody else wants to change around their upkeep. Upkeep phase It isn't over until I actually post the new techs and cleanup phase die rolls for ancients / supernovae.

WE just need orders from SS and we can close out the upkeep phase.

Ok junkies, upkeep done.
I decide to go with the materials, as suggested.

SS,

I suggested that you colonize the grey with a money cube and then use your extra colony ship for a material to go into storage. There are some issues with your upkeep. For one you can't build a cruiser during upkeep. It would be sweet but you can't do that.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

If you want to settle Grey planet with a material cube then you will have to use your extra colony ship as money because your upkeep will move from -5 to -7 by settling the hex and your income is only 6.

That would leave you with an upkeep of 0 money 4 science and 6 materials. This would allow you to build two interceptors instead of one cruiser or you could flip two colony ships over to build a dread like GP did last round but your income is only 6 at the start of the next round and your starting upkeep would be -3 leaving you one normal action that you can afford before you have to start flipping colony ships for money or if you fail to settle Chi Draconis with money.

I just wanted you to be aware that you will be in a very tight money situation next round if you go the material route this round.

Okay I think I see what SS was trying to do with his upkeep. He took his starting bank amount and then listed out all the "purchases" throughout the round and then added the new production of the Upkeep. Though I wish he would have stuck around long enough to make sure he understood what I suggested for him.

As his upkeep stands he generates 6 materials instead of 5. That is the only error I see. Though I would wait to consider this his final upkeep especially if he is trying to do what I suggested for him to do and just misunderstood what I was saying. Or we could proceed with the cleanup phase and allow SS to swap the colony ships from money to material and population cubes from material to money if he did misunderstand when he comes back.

Opps: Found another error. As it currently stands his money should be zero as well not 2

I'm fine with that.

I'm back. Sorry man, I've been out.
I see the error with my materials, should be 6 not 5.
What else was wrong?

Almost but your income of materials is 6. So start of day 3 you will have six materials. I think.

With regards to the material/money situation? I'll take my chances.

So just to be clear you want to keep the population cube on Gamma Velorum as material and not money?

If you keep it this way It will severly limit what you can go action wise going forward just so you know. It will even be worse than it was this round in all likely hood unless you are willing to bankrupt hexes.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Ok then. I'll use a money cube. That is what I wanted originally anyway.
I'll fix that now.

So do you also want to change what you gain from your colony ship? By switching your population cube to money you will actual gain 1 money during upkeep even before you flip the colony ship. But on the flip side you will only generate 4 materials and be one short of building a cruiser. Or you could go science with that other colony ship giving you 5 science. That's not enough to research many good military tech but it could be a jump start you may need for next round. It may also land you improved hulls in case Morgoth passes it up to explore instead. Though if I were you I'd use it to build another ship and possibly think about taking out those ancients to gain yourself a better income next round.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
