From the picture, looks like it has 3-wormholes-in-a-row, right? If so:

Orient Mu Herculis with wormholes pointing N, NW, SW. Influence it with a disc. Do not populate it.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

@CF. Unless has the scratch for Illustrator, Inkscape is pretty much the only vector option anymore isn't it? I've got an old g5 MacPro somewhere with Panther I believe. And a copy of CorelDraw 10 somewhere. Tempted to rewind 10 years and try that. Typing to use the libroffice draw just as a proof of concept thing, but it is quite awkward and unintuitive.

I am not really up on these things, I just use inkscape because it was recommended to me by a buddy.

Hopefully SS made it back from his sojourn in the woods soon!

I have no idea what to do...being last in a 9p game makes me pretty reactionary in anything i do.

I guess the best thing to do as RIS is to go after the ancients since winning battles is a good source of income for me. I wonder what the chances of taking out 2 ancients are with a cruiser and 2 interceptors.

EDIT:

Muahaha....now I have a plan.

I really don't like the sound of that......

Research the plasma cannons and then upgrade your blueprints with the cannons and computers. All of your ships will fire first so there is a very good chance you would take out one ancient before they even have a chance to fire. Though the odds that you lose one interceptor is fairly good, scratch that, I forgot you had built in gauss shields. I'd say your odds of losing an intercepor as probably 35%. If you hadn't spent your science on the advanced robotics you could have waited until next round and got the plasma missles, especially if you influence Kappa Scorpii and settle the science planet. Think how bad ass you would have been then.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I'm back. Didn't get eaten by any snarks or grumpkins while I was away.
Pretty tame Yorkshire really.

I can pretty much tell you what my first move in tho round will be, and if I need to clear anything up from my first round just let me know.

research Plasma Cannon.

Edit: So Tapper you never answered me regarding accepting a diplomatic relation with each other. Is this something you would be interested in pursuing?

Vector graphics vs raster graphics. Vector makes images that can be blown up without pixelating.

I'm wanting to do something along the lines of this:

It depends on what you think about doing long term. You have mostly cut yourself off from the middle and the only way to the middle would be through Tatts. Being the aggressor against Tatts would land you the traitor card and -2 points but grabbing it early probably isn't too bad as CF will probably attack me at some point and take it away from you.

You could make a play for Vega instead and if you are thinking doing that I would probably grab the plasma cannons but I'm fairly sure that Tatts is thinking about going for that hex this round too and with him grabbing the positron computers I would say he has the military advantage right now.

Other than that I would think about strengthening my economy. To do that you need hexes that aren't worthless like most of the ones you uncovered so far. I would probably spend most of this round exploring tier III. A little less than half of the tiles left have at least 2 population slots available to colonize (if you research the appropriate advanced tech that is) but a slight majority of the hexes are 1 or zero planet hexes. On the plus side those are the discovery tile hexes that can give you some good ship parts or resources to help temporarily strengthen your standing.

Right now you have a good material production and most of tier III have more of the same. A good strategy for you this game could be building up your material production to build orbitals to help with your science and money situation and then start hording the materials to build a boat load of monliths in round 9 all the while research tech, tech, tech. You could be the quiet loner that everyone is ignoring and end up winning because of that. These are just suggestions. If I were you I would probably go the explore route. Tatts will have to keep an eye on D'rek and Morgoth so if you commit to a defensive pacifist strategy (Key on defenses. Don't leave yourself open for a sneak attack and upgrade your starbases) this could carry you far this game.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Eh. Thank you. That is pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking of doing. Building monoliths never occured to me though. Mostly cause I doubt I'll be around that long. :p

"key on defenses" so build powerful starbases instead of ships? I can't move but they have to defeat the starbases first? How does a stabase stand vs a dreadnaught?

It all depends on what is on the dreadnaught and what is on the starbase. Either one can easily defeat the other depending on what goodies are on each and how many of each are fighting the other. A lot of weaker powered ships can defeat the most bad ass ship out there if there are enough of them. Grabbing improved hulls is probably a good idea but that tech doesn't ususally stick around very long. As you can see the two that were drawn were both grabbed by the first person that could realistically could afford them in each round. Though I thought that Khell made a mistake and not grab it in round one but he lucked out and landed it in round two. The key would be to keep an eye on what your neighbors are doing and then try and counter their strengths with your defenses. That was why IH was not completely eliminated last game as he grabbed all the counter tech to my weapons last game so I didn't pick a fight on his more heavily defended hexes even though I was wanting more of them for my master plan.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

If you haven't noticed I uncovered two mining planets that I was able to colonize and I still only generate 4 per round so I was in the same boat as you.
