I'm confused by the Conan negativity in this thread. You realize he plays up his own awkwardness and creepiness, right? It's a character. Much like Letterman or Craig Ferguson he plays the lech when ever he thinks it will get a laugh.

no
watch some of his interviews more recently with attractive leading ladies, he comes across as pure 100% sleaze.
some of his comments are trump worthy

The only thing he ever does is compliments beautiful women on how they look or what they are wearing. He'll uses words like "stunning". And he does that growl thing, which has been his signature since he started. He did one time get caught looking down at that Pussy Cat Dolls member's chest, and she told him "up here Conan" but you could tell it was set up, as they prepare those kind of things in a pre-interview. And in his defense she did have her chest pushed up in a very low cut dress so it was obviously set up. To equate him with Trump level of lasciviousness is just silly.

Smugness and meanmess? Conan couldn't be further away from those descriptions. Maybe awkward and goofy and unrefined . . .Did you watch the Israel episode when he did segments from both the Israeli side and Palestinian side of the complication there? No, Conan is neither smug or mean. He's a goofy ginger. And people don't like someone like that harmlessly flirting with women. He's married and has children by the way.
Eh...
I'm Canadian. I am fully aware that I have a very low tolerance for meanness, but I don't care. I'll call it when I see it. And that "awkward and goofy" thing, as you call it, doesn't fool me. You can still see that little smirk under it and it just triggers that revulsion response in me. I'm just glad that it turns out I'm not the only one who sees it.
Never liked him. Even way back when all I knew about his was that Triumph the Insult Dog sketch.
Also, it is instructive to note that "married and has children" doesn't stop men from creeping, even if they sometimes use it as a cover. "I didn't mean it. It was just a joke/harmless flirting/Can't you take a compliment." Ugh!

On this one I'd say its just you.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish
Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Well shit, that explains everything then. You are no longer allowed to comment on this topic. Your debate license has been revoked. To acquire it again you must attain citizenship in the United States.
Conan is as harmless as that first fuzz on a new born baby's head. You know, that stuff that falls out and then is replaced eventually by real hair. Also, you do realize late night talk shows are entertainment, right? They are used by guests to promote something. The interviews are framed and set up prior to the guest going before the cameras, so there is nothing really authentic about them. So Apt nailed it. Conan is playing a character. If it doesn't suit your sensibilities, don't watch, kay?

While you may be attempting to be funny, you are coming across as a condescending ass. People are entitled to express there opinions in the discussion board and you are entitled to express your own. You are not however entitled to try and shut down another member in a belittling tone. If you can't handle that, I'm happy to ban you, kay?

From the few interviews of his that I've seen I have to agree with Apt here
But yeah this is Discussions board and not the Inn where Zooie's behaviour would be.. less inappropriate (there's a lot of talk about appropriate behaviour on this board earlier in this very thread actually

I apologize if I rubbed people the wrong way. I had posted a news worthy item about Hugh Hefner passing. I thought maybe it would generate some discussion, good or negative about Hefner's impact on sexuality in general. When the discussion went more towards the masturbatory walk down memory lane and watching scrambled porn on late night cable, I thought it was ok to be a little more goofy, so I posted that Conan vid, throwing in a funny skit about masturbation, not knowing it was going to turn into a Conan is creepy mean, smug jerk debate.
[Edit] heh, "rubbed". No pun intended.

I never seem to make it to the interviews because I get turned off just by the monologue alone. Nope! It's all him. Like I said, I know that he is popular. He does seem to be more popular among guys, or at least they are more likely to defend him more vehemently, I have noticed, but that seems to be true of most late night talk shows, so it's neither here nor there. And you are absolutely right. It doesn't suit my sensibilities, so I avoid him whenever possible. I was just expressing relief that I wasn't the only one who noticed something off and I tried to articulate what it was. He's doing fine. It doesn't look like he's getting cancelled anytime soon, so it's not like he needs my support.

Thank you.
I'm sure he just got carried away because I disparaged something he loves.
Malankozooie, it's all good. I won't think any less of you just because you have terrible taste in talk show figures. I actually thought that Jian Ghomeshi was harmless, and he turned out to be an actual rapist, so it's not like my instinct is always perfect.
And BK, that's so weird! So when guys get groped, their buddies will heckle them? Is this normal? Because among my circle, it doesn't matter how attractive a guy is, if he gropes a woman, the first thing her friends will say to her is, "Oh my God! Are you okay?" and then do whatever she needs them to in order to help her feel okay. It could range from hugs and reassurance to getting her the hell out of there, to acting normally so she can forget about it all. Whatever the situation seems to warrant. But heckling would be unthinkable.
