I don't think it's wrong to feel 'disappointed' in these people or even to feel sad for yourself about the works you liked being tainted -- I mean I definitely feel that way about Dustin Hoffman, who's literally one of the best actors of all time, and you're bound to have personal feelings tied up in a lot of your favorite films/shows/etc. -- just as long as you also keep your priorities in check as well.

And I agree with QT, this is just the prelude. Disgusting behaviors and abuses of power, and no doubt some true horror stories. And it's just going to expand: sports, politics, business, wherever men have entrenched power...which is everywhere.

And that heart-sinking feeling we (men) get with each new revelation...worth noting that it's a fraction of a feeling that a lot of women have every day, as they're out in the world, cuz they're living in it. The casual indignities, the worse abuses, and for many, the brutalities perpetrated on them. Not just women -- power is power after all -- but nearly every woman.

Yah it's gross. In the Huffpo article on this, it's up to 4 accusers, 3 of whom are also Scientologists. This stood out (emphasis mine):

When it was originally a blind item, the duo was assumed to be Garfunkel & Oates, and it made for 'plausible deniability' I guess because they are already so popular, so how could he get away with it even behind the scenes? That it's a much less powerful duo w/ less cache explains I guess why he could successfully dismiss it (or ignore it) to his peers.

Anyway, this is such gross behavior, and I already have a sick feeling in my gut that he's gonna be forgiven in a short while like Mel Gibson.
Maybe cuz I'm a fan of his work and feel that ambivalence too, like I want to believe that he can rewire his brain w/ treatment and become a better person -- and if I'm feeling that way, people who owe their careers in some way to him (even just via reciprocity with peers) must be feeling that way too.

But the fact is, he shouldn't be forgiven. He's been an unrepentant gaslighting prick about it this whole time. He's covered his tracks. The stuff with his agent is sickening. He's ruined careers, if not lives.

I'm also bothered by the fact that he apologized to the one woman for something he didn't even do to her...meaning he did that shit to someone else. It's fucked.

As far as being forgiven...I don't see that happening in the post watershed Hollywood climate. They are cleaning out their cupboards. Gibson is different as he's had a decade of decent behaviour, contrition, and substance abuse help since his transgressions and assistance with serious mental health issues (Bipolar I believe?). I'm not saying forgive him for those things, but he's at least done a far amount to come to terms with them. Whether that means it's right for Hollywood to forgive him or not, is up for discussion...

I don't know that CK can be given that quarter any time soon...and the fact that he's been repeatedly asked to own up to it and get help and he's denied any of it happened...is bad.
