It's definitely not Star Wars anymore, but that's a good thing. I definitely prefer nuanced looks at characters. The Emperor of Return of the Jedi is such a sneering cartoon bad guy who is almost unwatchable.

Latest episode of Andor is so good. I don't know anybody else watching it. Is anyone here up to date?
Sweet zombie jesus but the latest episode was absolutely amazing. I was literally sitting on the edge and holding my breath towards the end, it was so amazing.
I agree, this is not your typical Star Wars show, and that is absolutely a good thing.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

100%. Same reason I think Rogue One is the best modern SW movie.
It’s such a huge, rich world. So many different stories you can tell.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I haven't picked up a lot of the characters names but the dude who has had to move back in with his mum. That whole storyline is so cringe. In a good way. The desperation. And his mother is awful.
The cereal with blue milk every morning! It is the perfect link to original SW. Subtley mixed in with all the new stuff but it's always there on the table. Well, maybe not so subtle given it is always there.
However Cassian and Gollum get out of where they are now, it is going to be tense.

Finally finished Rings of Power and House of the Dragon.
Will be diving into this next. First SW show I've not watched from day one, but I loved Rogue One and didn't want to just mix it in with everything else.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Watched Tales of the Jedi recently it is rather good, I think I'd prefer more animate Star Wars over live action in fact.
At the same time enjoying Andor so far up to episode 5, it certainly orders of magnitudes better than Book of Boba.
Have been kind of doubtful on the Disney Starwars thingy recently but these two prove they can do very nice stuff when they get a bit of freedom.

Yes.
And I don’t know that it’s particularly close imo.
It’s the only one so far I’m excited to watch every week.

The Mandalorian is really good! Good storytelling, good cinematics, excellent production value all around. It's a thoroughly excellent show that I would not, for one second, hesitate to recommend to anyone who would be interested in something like Star Wars.
Andor is better, much better!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

The latest Andor is fantastic, again. It's funny because this story has been sitting there waiting to be told ever since A New Hope but we've been so focused on the heroes, we missed everyone in the shadows until Rogue One. It seems so obvious now!

I liked the mandalorian a lot too. I think my kid will like it better, but I really enjoy the darker grittier andor. I wish book of boba and obi-wan were better.
There are so many stories to tell not involving Jedi or sky walkers. I hope they keep it up.

Obi Wan is my favourite of the SW recent TV shows but maybe I should watch Andor?

Mr PigDog has heard the hype around Andor and now regrets not watching it with me. If course he ignored me suggesting he catches up after the first couple of episodes! I think I'll be happy to re-watch soon after it finishes unless the ending disappoints. Waiting for the last episode so I can have a double bill finale. Fingers crossed they stick the landing.

I tried to have an Andor finale double bill tonight. Mr PigDog out, little PigDog early to bed. A perfect plan... I got 4 minutes into episode 11 and the little bugger got up and wouldn't go to sleep for another 2 hours... Sigh.

Leaks from the next D+ show THE ACOLYTE set have dropped! Our very first real High Republic-era stuff! Oh my gods, I cannot wait for this show.
First an official still from the set showing Lee Jung-jae, and Amandla Stenberg

Then we have Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae in High Republic Jedi (read: Gold) robes!

Then A female Zabrak
the-acolyte-bts-photos-4.jpeg (71.21K)

Then (X-23 herself) Dafne Keen in consume.

Then a Padawan, and Amandla Stenberg
the-acolyte-bts-photos-5.jpeg (120.74K)

And lastly, this one MIGHT be insanely exciting.....here is a Wookie in High Republic Robes....for those of us who read the High Republic books this takes place some 150 years AFTER the Starlight Beacon disaster at the height of the High Republic, and is a mere 132 years before ANH....is this Burryaga as a Jedi Master?! For those not in the know, one of the decently involved padawans 150 years before The ACOLYTE was a wookie named Burryaga...as far as we know as of the final book of Phase 1 he's still alive...so if this is an aged Burryaga that's super exciting! Can't wait to see who else might show up on this show from that era!
