Well, I'm not totally surprised since why put in ra's al ghul references unless you want to have lazarus pits, and the professor igo stuff seems to headed that direction, too. Still, I don't know if I'm really happy with this twist. It would've been better if they introduced ra's al ghul threatening her or something, IMO.

They made *another* reference to the particle accelerator in the last episode, too. I'm guessing that will be how they tie in the Flash for the next couple episodes.

Give Black Canary mad karate skills and sonic grenades or something, we don't need her screaming with bad fx whenever the budget permits.

I'm all caught up on this show! There's been a lot of good episodes and I really do like how they brought the main S2 villain out early and have him being quite active in messing up everyone's lives, rather than keeping him hiding in the shadows just running minions until the end. They sort of did that with Merlyn, where even thugh we knew who he was none of the other characters did for quite a while. I like that they're having Deathstroke take an active role, and the fact that the protaganists actively try to stop him but fail makes the whole supremely arrogant "rather than kill you I'm going to mess with your lives and watch you suffer" method of Deathstroke's - which for most diabolical antagonists would be a too-stupid flaw - be both believable and not seem stupid.

The ending of the latest episode was all sorts of gut-wrenching... the suddenness of the attack followed by the long, drawn out sequence afterwards was super cringey, in a good way.

Spoiler

Anyways, I am really liking this season and am going to try and keep up even closer with the next (last) 3 episodes. Is anyone else still following?

Yeah, I'm still following. It does just enough to keep me interested.

coming but I think it was a good call, story-wise, on the part of the showrunners.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I watched the season finale last night and thought it was really good! I think they brought all the elements from this season together very well and wisely tied most of them up so that they don't need to keep them all going next season and can have fun introducing new elements or taking a new direction instead.

The fight choreography/editing/whatever was really good, especially

Yeah, the finale was good. Glad to see we're moving on to new things, story-wise. I'm in for S3.

So, the pilot for Flash is out there for those who are interested.

It's decent, but i'll be honest - if you've seen the extended trailer, you've seen the whole pilot.

Seriously, there's a few expository scenes added, but that's about it.

With some exceptions:

I really enjoyed the pilot and agree that if you seen the extended trailer, you've pretty much seen the entire episode!

Don't read if you've not seen the episode!

Arrow popped up on Netflix, so I digged in.

I am currently on episode 7, season 1.

I am curious about the show, could someone, without getting too spoilerific, enlighten me about where the series is going?

The series is giving me some mixed messages.

I can't tell if the lead actor (Oliver Queen) is just a bad actor crossed with bad direction/cinematografy or if, going by various scenes, Oliver Queen is a manipulative psychopath. Well, obviously, given what the guy gets up to, the guy is a violent psychopath, but I get some serious creepy vibes from his facial manurisms at times and the looks he gives people. Like potential Dexter tendencies. Sometimes he looks like a teddy bear in a well tailored suit and other times he looks like a muscle bound thug.

Also, I find the actions of Arrow rather disturbing. I am used to Comic book shows and movies being PG13, but Arrow appears to be more of an an Anti-hero and the show has a pretty dark undertone. The guy is straight up murderizing people. There is something far more unsettling about people getting shot with arrows, rather than bullets. It's probably because in shows you usually see people getting shot and the "gory side effects" being hidden. But you can't hide an arrow sticking out of a guys chest or abdomen. There's something far more intimate about that.

The entire show is very American prime-time TV, with its Smallville/sci-fi characteristics getting mashed together with typical Gillmore Girls drama, which makes the undertone of violence kind of uncanny.

I could see the show going down a very dark path but I also suspect that they wouldn't do that, because they want the show to have a broader appeal.

But seriously this Arrow guy is creeping me out.

I thought it took around 15 episodes for the series to settle down and find its feet. The last few eps of season 1 were good, and I thought season 2 was pretty great. They certainly deal with your misgivings about him killing people.

Aye, without going into too much detail, some of your concerns are actually adressed as part of his character development throughout the series, stick with it, the series gets better and better IMO.

Just finished the 1st season.

This is a bad show.

I thought it had some promise during the introduction of the early episodes but somewhere around the middle the show just crawls up its own ass and becomes "Generic episodic action/drama show as provided to you by Warner Brothers".

I am assuming this show is made by the same people that made Smallville. It certainly feels like the worst parts of Smallville, with melodramatic character interactions where somebody says or does something random that makes the other person somehow spiral down some crazy road of logic only for that person to completely change the next episode when somebody gives a random pep-talk.

The show is so terribly inconsistent. One episode The Hood is a killing machine, a master of his environment, then the next he has trouble fight one or two guards and he doesn't have any plan or tactical awareness of the situation. He keeps killing guards randomly but the central villains he encounters he never just kills, they for some reason need to be warned or he has to have a fist fight with first. He keeps shooting out the weapons people are holding for then to fist fight them and break their neck. The police officers are awful at their jobs. The soldiers don't act professional and have no military tactics or skill.

The Islands potential as a story telling vehicle was completely ruined. Any mystery was washed away within a few episodes as we go from thinking the Island is a mystical place of death and violence and it just turns out to be a terrorist hideout.

All of that are symptoms of terrible writing. There's nothing fresh or clever about this show. The characters are shallow and the acting/directing is sub par. There are no surprises in this show. It's just Smallvile with a smaller budget and no awesome sci-fi elements.

Aaaand yet.

I am going to watch the second season, because hey, there's people getting shot with arrows and the occasional choreographed fist fight that is mildly entertaining.

But this is a terrible show.

EDIT: Actually, the real reason for watching this show is Felicity Smoak. Every scene with her is wonderful.

So ... according to well-defined Apt Logic™, does that actually mean this is a brilliant show?
