Day 463 since Ghost Story........

Grave news. Our numbers are fewer.

Stalker has fallen to temptation.

Myself, Slow Ben and Amphibian and a few others are still holding out.
Supplies are low,
Pressure increases every day.

But we stay strong.

We must hold.

We MUST hold.

I stopped by the house of Cocoreturns in continuance of my efforts to keep our intangible spirits high and our tangible and scotchy spirits low. I noticed this log while the master of the house was in the kitchen preparing his dinner and decided to add my notes to this, as the community and posterity will appreciate the record.

There seems to be a cat demon of sorts sitting outside our thresholds and yowling seductive temptations to give in. As Coco mentions, most of us have held, but Stalker went over and he returned a changed and drooling maniac. Our salivary glands are working at a slightly above average pace, but there is no full out foaming at the mouth episodes yet.

We remain faithful to our Lord and Literary Crack Dealer and the bakers among us promise us bounties of pumpkin pie and meat upon the blessed day of the advent.

A refreshing change, the cat has been converted. I remember other years, You Canadian archetype, that you attempted to steadfastly refuse the dresdenhood. The early chapters that the Butcher has bestowed upon us, glory be!

He's right, you know. *hee-hee!* It's just...there. But we are still strong!

...aren't we? Guys?

Anyone?

Sometimes I get so lonely, y'know? Times like that, it's hard to say no. Then I remember Coco's strength. Slow Ben's resistance. Amph has been our rock. If he goes, how long could the rest of us carry on? No! Don't think like that. Not too long now. Not too long. Not too long.

I hate to see you all torturing yourselves like this.
We're your friends.
We're trying to help.
Don't you trust us?
Do you really think we would do something to hurt you? REALLY?

Look, here's the first sentence, just 21 words, most of them 'the'.

Click on the spoiler. Go look.

Test your resolve against the reaction you get to this one sentence and THEN decide if it's really worth the pain.

Go on.

Spoiler

And THEN, if you're not amp'd, you don't have to click on the link to the chapter... http://www.jim-butch.../cold-days-ch-1

Keep the faith brothers! It was harder to resist earlier, when the distance to the newest, highest high was so depressingly great. But now! Now the days grow ever shorter (in the Northern Hemisphere, at least), and that means that not only the number of days to wait is dramatically shorter, but the actual time is shorter, too! And each day that passes reduces the total waiting time by a larger margin. So don't give in! Though we are assailed, though blandishments are strewn in our paths like candy from a paedophile's van, WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER!

It's Monday.

You're having a crap day.

Too much work.
Your boss is on your case.
Co-workers annoying. That guy with the cough is just spewing his bacteria everywhere.

Too much studying. Paper is due soon. Exams aren't that far away.

Your family is already on your case about the holidays.
You haven't started Christmas shopping yet.

Significant Other pissing you off.

Maybe the cat pee'd on the couch again.

The milk in the fridge is ascending to cheese. In a bad way.

Face it, your day sucks.

Know what would make it SO MUCH BETTER????

Day 468 since Ghost Story........

T minus 22 days before Cold Days..

People have gone over. As days turn to nights and nights turn to days it becomes harder to Hold On. Yet it also feels a little easier. The utter extreme ecstasy of what we now know as Dresdencrackhead syndrome is slowly simmering away yet I see the light. It is a distant light at the end of this dark tunnel and I know, I just know I can hold out.

The yowling of the cat demon grows louder and more drenched in syrup. They are like verbal waffles offered up to a starving lumberjack in the Canadian winter. I wonder if he has some sort of deadline imposed by his evil supernatural bureaucracy for these temptations are matching pace with our own efforts to gird ourselves. The others have gathered around my determination and to be truthful, it is both a blessing and a curse. I must remain strong in order to live up to their expectations and hopes. I cannot give in to the all too easily achieved delights.

I have taken the route of throwing myself wholesale into sporting pursuit for the weekend. I am tired and it effectively distracted me - but only for a weekend. There are still 22 days left for us to endure. 22 days of this cat demon reminding us of what is possibly ours if we crack and deviate from our words spoken to each other and to ourselves. The Saison Rue beer was consumed on Friday and I was sorry to see it go, despite the fizzy joy my tastebuds experienced. Perhaps I can risk another trip or two to the outside world and stop up my ears, avert my eyeballs and resist this mighty temptation to lay in more such boozy supplies.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

+++++++++++++++++++++Dresdencrack Pusher Logs+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The initial salvo and attack have failed, but spirits have been bent (if not yet broken).

A new offensive has been masterminded by His Holiness, the Feline One.

The Link is myriad, and multiplying further as we speak.

We have word from the Teller Of Tales himself, he and his web minions endorse our effort and will see the fall of the clean ones soon.

Stay true to the cause, push them. When the time is right, we will send in the secret weapon, and then gods help us all.

@Abyss and QT, how do you guys get the book in Canaland? Does it appear on shelves in 22 days here, too or do you order it from beyond? And I hear they are being printed in big-pb/hardcover formats these days - will the little paperback version that matches all my other Dresden books be available in 22 days, as well, or is it an 8-month wait for that to appear?

Chapter's has it down as Nov. 27th...but I refuse to trust them with that date...so grain of salt. That's hardcover. The paperback will probably not be out till next summerish...there is usually a huge wait for it as they want to milk the HB sales as long as they can.

You COULD always grab the eBook version on release day to read in the meantime and wait for the MMPB to come out for your collection?

I'll probably buy it in store...because Chapters/Indigo put CHANGES out two weeks early here and I recall nearly spitting out my latte when I saw it...so I always go on the assumption that someone will screw up and I'll get it early at the store. Hasn't happened since then, but worth looking out for it.

Otherwise if I don't see it on the shelf on release day I'll order it from Amazon...and get it a few days later.
