I guess this is some kind of cosmic payback for all the times Erikson came out later in Canada than everywhere else... Still not clicked a link/spoiler tag...

Look, if the book were available where you are, you'd have already read all the way through ch4, so really reading the promo chapters as this point is just doing what you would have done if the universe liked you as much as it liked QT and I.

All you're doing by reading the promo chapters at this point is equalizing the state of your own subjective read.

And also, can i say, as good as chapters 1-4 are, 5 is the awesomeballs and just jumping straight into it when you get the book is like the bestest thing ever. And then there's the one-two punch of chs 6 and 7 and then holyfuck you won't BELIEVE what happens in 8...

I'm like 200th in line at the library...once they get their copies in. :twoguns:

We'll pray for you, you poor glorious bastard.

Abyss - you live in Ottawa area right? Which Chapters did you go to?

At the chapters indigo website, you can search which store has copies.
Rideau has like 40 but most of the big stores had a few when i looked yesterday.

I was hoping you'd say Rideau! If I can't find it today at Prospero on Bank (which is close to my work) then I'll stop at Rideau on my way home tonight. I MUST owns it! Am just about done Forge of Darkness, so this will make a perfect next book!

Just popping in to say a non-spoiler "I'm almost done at page 465".

And holy shitsnackers.

SO GOOD.

As much as i love Prospero, i would call ahead if i were you. None of the smaller 'Coles' stores had it. Chapters gets first grab because it's a mega-store.
And yeah, COLD DAYS after FoD is a massively solid lineup.

There's a tiny tiny tiiiiiiiinnyyy, almost non-existent chance I'm getting an early copy of COLD DAYS this week!!!!! It seems a bookstore located some 130 km's away has some copy's. I mean, I would never ever have done that for any other book (not even Malazan), but a Dresden book....... It's sooo tempting.

Yeah, the only reason I checked out Prospero is cause it's literally a block and a half away from work. And there's a really hot guy that works there. They didn't have it, though I bought the two first Codex of Alerra books. Will stop at Rideau on my way home to see if I can get my hands on Cold Days.

I still have a chunk of FoD to read so I prolly won't even start it till the weekend. But that means I should still finish it before it is supposed to come out. And that makes me feel a little special.

Also to those still holding out on the first few chapters front, I just don't get why you would deprive yourself of the amazingness.

It's not forbidden, not REALLY...it's just sort of frowned upon. :sofa:

According to the guys at chapters, the embargo was broken by some store in canada, (i'm guessing a chapters store or an affiliate) and as such they were allowed to sell it. They had the books on display on a plinth with the rest of the Dresden drugs. I'm suffering withdrawal as we speak though, I'm halfway through right now, but i'm working until 4 today, then have to attend my fiancee's christmas party, and i'm going to get very little Dresden in the meantime. And halfway through, $32 feels like a steal.

I wonder will the early release do anything to impact the chances of hitting number 1 on the bestsellers charts? I know its unlikely, but a part of me would feel guilty if any negative impact came from me getting my fix early. But then i'd get over it.:sofa:

+++++++++++++++++++++Dresdencrack Logs+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Day 487 since Ghost Story........

The Long Night is OVER.

Salvation has arrived. 515 pages of pure, uncut, unsullied Dresden.

For the weak? Those who succumbed to the previews? A woeful 483 pages.

I pity them their willful stupidity in reducing their own glorious hit of Dresden.

But I temper my thoughts with the knowledge that soon, once again, we shall all begin the wait anew.

For now however, I depart, for my book is awaiting.

This is Cocoreturns,
Progenitor of the Dresdencrack Logs,
Signing off.
