I believe the publisher Penguin of Canada is the only one publishing the book at the moment and thus it is only available in Canada. You can find it at www.amazon.ca or www.chapters.ca. Amazon.ca says it ships within 1-2 months?!? while chapters says it ships within 24 hours. Regardless you will have to pay for shipping and handling. I paid about $8 which is roughly 3 pounds when I ordered HoC from amazon.co.uk if that helps any.

Which makes it central to the plot. But it's also central to the character of Cnaiur, too. Cnaiur is violent to a nearly suicidal extreme because his repressed homosexuality has driven him to become the uber-Scylvendi. He wants to kill Moenghus, not out of revenge, but to prove to everyone he's not the "faggot weeper" everyone thinks he is. One of the interesting things I'm waiting to see is whether Moe/Kellhus truly understand just how far over the edge Cnaiur has gone, and if they can stop what that might make him capable of.

(Sorry...Cnaiur's my favorite character in the series.)
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Just saw that the release of The Warrior Prophet has been pushed back two months, now to be released on June 13th. Posted Image

Same here. Erikson, Martin, Bakker, not to mention Shadowmarch by Tad Williams being shifted from Spring to November. Initially it looked like such a magnificent Spring season for Fantasy books but three of the five books I anticipated highly have been postponed.

I have no idea, SL. I am going to have to re-read the book again before the end of the summer.

*MORE SPOILERS*

I really enjoyed the ending. When Achamian was summoned to the Emperor at the end there I knew the Consult was about to show themselves. I thought that scene in the dungeon was the best of the book. That description comparing his face to a spider unfolding its legs was amazing.

i picked this up at chapters downtown today. im around page 80 at the moment and its pretty intriguing.

crazy world he's created tho, so far im sort of confused as to what exactly is going on with all the different scheming factions ive been introduced to - same sort of feeling i got when first starting GotM. bakker's style is taking a little getting used to too, it seems a bit rigid to me, with some of the grand satements he makes coming off as a bit forced; but its still some fascinating stuff, and im sure ill enjoy it more once im fully immersed in the world.

nonetheless it looks like itll be fun, i just hope it doesnt end on a complete cliffhanger as i know its the first in a series.

probably wont finish it 'til my exams are over, but once i do ill be sure to post my thoughts on it here.

Hmm, well Tor have signed Erikson and they have Jordan, who's as terrible as they come. So publisher an author has can only tell you so much, if anything.

I haven't heard many bad words about this. I'm not reading much fantasy at the moment but I'll have to pick this up at some point whenever it comes to the UK. I'll just have to not let the hype disappoint (which hype has a great tendancy to do).

I think I will crack soon and order this book. I've heard nothing but good reveiws, and I need something new in epic fantasy to keep me busy till Midnight Tides and Feast For Crows.

But I have to say that "When Sorcerers Sing" is possibly the worst title I have ever heard. I mean, WTF! How can you go from a great title like "The Darkness that Comes Before" to something as laughable as "When Sorcerers Sing"?

Anyway, I hope this series is as good as everyones been saying. Posted Image
