Not to be nitpicky, but that third paragraph DEFINITELY contains information that most people here would consider spoilers, and fairly big ones at that.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Specifically,
I would have rather not known that was even a possibility ahead of time. But I'm not harping on the issue, just explaining what I meant. Thanks for putting it behind the tag.

"While readind TMBotF, the prologues going back in time were always my favorite portions of the books. For some reason, the back story often resonates more with me than the actual plot... And now, I have an entire trilogy to sink my teeth into!!!
"
My mouth waters at the thought that we will actually get books focusing on this subject, the potential seems so big. This feels like Eriksons "Silmarillion", though hopefully a lot easier to read.

Oh dang, that is a spoiler because it's not a concept I actually envision, but definitely within SE's writings about how things come to be in its present state. Nonetheless, that's quite an amazing piece of writing when I somehow perceive something as truth (in the Malazan world) and it shatters by that single statement. It's all good, and thanks for the insight Pat.

Read the spoiler Worrywort was on about
What the actual fuck. I have a feeling with SE moaning about the list makers in his prelude that this book is going to shit over any facts weve had in the past and that anyone who doesnt like it is just nitpicking.
Please for the love of god do not completely compromise the integrity of your worlds canon for the sake of a story. I get you like doing it but please dont.
Not looking forward to this as much now tbh, which may be an over reaction but there we are.

This little teaser info from Pat is awesome to me, as it turns all my preconceived ideas about the Tiste Andii past, upside down and backwards. How incredible this novel will be; SE always surprises me with the twists of his mind. I cannot wait to read it to find out what this is all about! Come on July 31!
"Yes, the owl was deliberate in each and every instance, and yes, it was intended to work on multiple levels." (from SE's Dec 09 Q&A)

With respect to Pat, he also mentioned that he's 25% through the first 1/3 of a trilogy. Which, if SE's patterns hold true, probably means that he really doesn't know shit at this point.

"Damn it, the next part was on Ian's laptop but he had it with him while tightrope walking over an active volcano mid eruption."
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
