The game takes care to remind you of that agreement once the betrothed comes of age.

Also, this game became a hell of a lot easier once I got access to retinues. Rebellions certainly became a lot less threatening.

I have a dilemma, My neighbors are the big scary Cumania, Holy shit 40k troops Abbasids and Saffarids. I cannot take any land in any direction. And they are all hostile to me, only my high crown authority (manpower=win) has saved me till now.
any suggestions about how to break up at least on of these big scary neighbors?
Can you believe I have not encountered a single character with a qucik/genius trait yet?

Maybe support the biggest rival to the ruler in one of these factions, try and throw them into a long, costly, civil war? Likewise, murdering a ruler who has only infant heirs might spark civil war as well, maybe making them weaker.

I murdered 5 Cumanian khans in 2 years. Didn't work. There is not one single ambitious High Chief in that realm. The Muslims won't talk to me because I'm an infidel. I think the only thing I can do right now is wait for one of them to fall apart by itself. the Abbasid Khalifah is infirm and his empire is falling apart. He has a really bad luck because his daughters' in law keep killing his heirs.
He is currently 60 with a 6 year old heir.

I'm sorry If I'm spamming the thread up but I have no where else to talk about this. (and I'm really excited)
the bloody Khalifah attacked the Saffarid Satrap. I back stabbed the Saffarid Satrap and while he was entangled with the Khalifah I took Khorasan (and holy site in Nishabur).
The Byzantine Emperor used the opportunity to attack Mu'tamed II in a war over Aleppo. The Shi'a Khalifah attacked the Sunni one just because he wanted to and 3 Zartoshtian revolutions sprang up in his lands.
Currently I'm trying to retake Satrapy of Marv from him.

If you ever have the opportunity to backstab the persian guys like this, I'd go for that big ass duchy they have in the east, it's like half their manpower.

I followed Gothos's advice and conquered Satrapy of Birjand. Nice one! (ironically, the whole Khive/Bukhara/Birjand/Marv area was considered to be part of Khorasan in the past...)
I can now officially field half as many troops as the Khalifah. good times.

How the actual fuck? I've had people with 27 diplomacy and thought me the king of the world. But those people have also had mediocre to abysmal stats otherwise. Like, no martial ability what so ever. At only 17 he can still get better (but also worse). Capitalise on that baby while he still lives!

Speaking of which, do any of you know of a good tactic for killing off a ruler if you'd rather play as the heir? Best thing I've got so far is to send him off to battle and hope he doesn't get taken captive, but killed.

i am training him now, he got a bit worse at dip, "only 32" but he got temp 13 martial so all is good

update, he is now leading a raid with all 8k of my retune and 418 boats, ima get rich!

I take this back. I can field half as many troops as him when his fighting on 3 fronts.
The old guy died ( at the age of fucking 95! ) and his son who is ambitious replaced him. he attacked me for all titles in kingdom of Persia (I think it had something to do with my attempt on his heirs life)
The guy field like 80k troops!
3 mercenary companies and all my levies(30k troops in all ) and I was so spectacularly defeated you won't believe it.
