Dammit, now it's going to look like I'm making a case on someone who's leaving to get them lynched. That is NOT happening! I'm halfway through right now, so give me a minute, the rest of you.

Okay, so reading through, there was a ton of talk about the bazaar. Not worrying, it's the focus and purpose of the current game, according to Tapper. But I did notice a few things, and I'll share what I think about one certain player.

My case against Korlat is based around her having little cash. I'll explain more at the end, and in the middle give some examples.

By the looks of the goings on on the bazaar, someone needs water....many mouths to feed? Or expecting to.

Yeah, that makes me a bit nervous - as I understand it, the only reason you'd need lots of water is if you had retainers in your service. And if you've got retainers, you're going to be hard to kill in battle...

Interesting that you are worried about others being hard to kill and not about others having the intention to kill. That seems a lot like you have an battle action.

Maybe, maybe not :p.

The reason I phrased it that way is because I have no idea if all retainers give you combat strength or not. I mean, you could conceivably have a retainer of strength 0, right? But one thing that is constant is that he will provide you with some protection in battle because of how the battle rules work.

This "to kill in battle" thing seems like a slip up. One side has the Nepeth, the other Iron people. I'm thinking she is a warrior, from this post, and I'm willing to risk it that she might be on my team (I don't consider warriors vital to this game, really, and they can be dangerous to me even if they are on my team).

Alright, looks like I've drawn a vote from GL. Sounds like I've got it for being vocal. Well I guess the game has to start somewhere, but attacking someone for being talkative seems counterproductive if you're looking to try and get discussion going and figure out people's loyalties ;).

Admittedly, I did kind of jump on Omtose when he was answering (or more accurately sidestepping :p) the questions I asked him, which isn't exactly going to encourage people to talk to me. But I've been trying to poke a little bit within the confines of the bazaar discussion to start the ball rolling. Problem is, in faction games people get voted off once there is no mystery about which team you're on any more, so there's little incentive to be open on thread and risk revealing your alignment.

Here Korlat posts an interesting post, mostly because of the underlined.

For saying that, you've sure been open, Korlat.

What sort of goods are you looking for? If it's something non-controversial, requesting it on thread might be a good way of getting people to post it for you. I've got my eye on that Monument, but unfortunately I can't afford it at the moment.

Here Korlat expresses that she can't afford the monument, and that she wants it. She also encourages people to request things on thread. The monument was very expensive at the time, so this quote alone doesn't mean much. But in the context of the rest here, it adds to the case.

The second day of the elections is barely underway when the first nominee arrives. Where I had expected to see a figure of notoriety in their own faction, the nominee is a master craftsman of the House of Luxury. To add insult to injury, the title he is nominated for, is that of Head of the University: the University that is being dominated by scholars of the Cult of Vultures. The ceremony is brief and Sush is not even accompanied by a member of his own House, for the campaign is still very much open and all hands are needed on the deck.

The Houses of Agreement have purchased 1 title in their bid for dominance in the Council.
Tepan Sush has become Hoja-Bashi.

Hoja-Bashi (Chief Teacher – Courtly Title)
You are the head of the University and you have access to all its knowledge.
You gain the Trader, Caravan-Leader, Raider, Warrior, Assassin, Thief and Mage titles.

This title is no longer for sale.

Wow, that was fast! Thought it would be another day or so before the titles started dropping.

Also, I'm not happy about that contract for information about me on the market :(.

Another example of surprise voiced at larger sums of money.

Again, not unreasonable alone, but it adds up.

Whoever just placed C9U, if you're willing to buy G37O and G42B, then I'll do what you're asking. Otherwise I don't have the money to pay for the monument up front.

Finally, we have this. C9U was a contract that rewarded 2000 dinari to whomever purchased the monument, priced at 7500 dinari.

She asks for the person who offered the contract to buy G370 and G42B, two separate good postings that offered 2 sandstone (each contract) in exchange for 1000 dinari each (piece of sandstone).

In my opinion, all of these posts lend evidence to a warrior.

Because of the ability to kill, warriors most likely have less money than other roles. Assassins as well, in my opinion. Raiders and Thieves have the ability to get more money through their power, but warriors and assassins don't. I don't know where mages fit in there.

I think it more likely that Korlat is a warrior rather than an assassin because of the potential slip up when she mentioned people being "hard to kill" in one of the posts I quoted above.

She seems to have little to contribute to the bazaar, if my hypothesis is correct, and she seems to have a potentially dangerous role.

I think if we lynch today, Korlat is the best bet for a lynch that could benefit everyone.

Vote Korlat

I understand that people are scared to take a stance for fear people will think that you're against whatever faction Korlat is from (or the opposite, if youre against korlat's lynch) but you shouldn't be. Korlat is a good lynch for both teams, in my opinion, which is why I've decided on her as opposed to a lack of lynch.

As much as I hate agreeing with Alkend, I like his idea the best. That is, If we are going to lynch. I am still not sure removing production, and Dinari from the game is a good idea just yet. Of course, I am not the one who purchased the Merrid info, so I have no way of knowing if he is on my team or not. If I knew he wasn't on my team, I would probably be more open to the idea of a lynch in general... though still hesitant. When we start going down the road of removing people, dinari, and production from the game, if you haven't set yourself up well...you could have a tough road to hoe.

I'm agreeing with you. If we lynch, I'd like to think that I'm getting an assassin at this point.

Anthras,

Your case on Korlat stuck a chord with me. I felt that someone else seemed to infer that they are short of funds. At first I thought it was Kara but after looking back I realize I was mistaken (or hadn't gone back far enough). Maybe It could be that it was Korlat all along. I might be down for a Korlat lynch but I think you may be wrong about why they are short on funds. There are theives out there and it takes 0 money for a theif to use their acton. If it takes no money to go out and steal this leads me to believe that they are short on money to begin with and that this is their way of making money. But in either case a theif or assasin that would be a good first lynch.

Edit: there to their
Edit the edit: Sorry about the Kara posts. Shows I was looking at him but forgot to remove the multiquotes.

I think you might have something on Korlat there, but explain to me why a warrior would be bad?

A warrior, given time, kills people. This slows the flow of the market, which is no good for this game.

An assassin is more dangerous, imo, because they don't require time to become good at their skill. Warriors, however, grow in strength each day they aren't eliminated. If I'm right, we could see a death tonight from Korlat. Maybe not. Maybe it would take another day, or two more. They grow in power. Eventually they can steamroll anyone except another warrior, or possibly a summoner type with a powerful djinni.

Btw, I'm sorry Korlat. You're a nice person, so far. I just think you'd be the best lynch opportunity for both parties.

I definatley like the case and will probably vote that way before I too have to log off in a few hours. What I still don't like is the way that Alkend and Okaros seem perfectly content to play the game behind the scenes. Maybe one of them is a finder so they feel like they don't need to discuss anything because they know exactly who people are so therefore doesn't feel the need to contribute.

Yeah, ok, so first real case of the game. And I don't know if it's just because of that fact, but it is pretty convincing. I'll be around for a little while but don't have too much time to discuss this further right now. Probably in an hour or two I will be back to comment on it. But right now it actually looks like our best bet.

The only caveat I have to say as this (more fun playing devil's advocate): We obviously have a Finder somewhere out there. If it's Anthras, then he knows Merrid's alignment, or he could have been one of those who purchased the information. However, this counter-argument is stronger if Anthras can Find, because it's possible he now knows Merrid's on his team but Korlat is not, which would lead to his case - he says voting Merrid doesn't help us, and voting Korlat does. While I can't really disagree with his logic, I just want to be careful about being led around by people with more information than I have.

Also, Find is usually a Night or Dusk action, and since it's just Day 2....Both Merrid and Korlat's information have gone on sale today, which means - day action Find? Not sure how else to explain it.

I also agree with this, it still bothers me a lot that we have people not contributing at all and just coasting along. I definitely want to hear from them before lynch or timeout.

I see there are many wise people on this board, who see a Merrid lynch as a waste.

I too, agree with this assessment. :(

Nice case on Korlat. One question for Anthras though:

I understand your reasoning that killers could be bad for this game, and I agree somewhat. I don't think they're bad overall, but they are very bad if they are killing blindly. What makes you think Korlat is not on your team? At the very least you could suggest that killers reign themselves in and wait for strong information to come out on thread. For example, "Please, don't kill unless you know they are not on your team, and they appear like they're about to buy a title."

Granted, info that strong may never just pop up on thread, but I would hesitate to lynch someone just because they are a killer. I find it hard to believe that Tapper would allow killing to break his market and hence the game.

I would really like to get some commentary other than fluff from either one of them.

Since my training guy hasn't called me I think I'll take the time to read back and see if there was anyone else that I was thinking of other than Korlat.

Just realized there could be two Finders, which would explain away the day action business.

2 finders, probably. One from each team.

No one has actually bought Korlat's faction, right? The only way I'd know is if I'm the finder.

I didn't buy Merrid's, either, but there's no reason for you to believe me.

Same for me; switch to Chrome for H&M, works fine.
