Most authors, from what I have seen, say they usually write five or six days a week, eight hours a day when writing a novel. I somehow doubt Martin is doing these appearances in his free time. I could be wrong I guess, but it is strange in any case.
By most authors you must mean Terry Goodkind, who pumps out twenty pages of garbage per day. Great cosmos, thank all goodness not all authors are Goodkinds. Grief, I can just imagine Goodkind starving away at the computer, like a man on the world's most important mission, knowing his next "masterpiece" will save lives and bring truth to the world. I can't bring myself to take a dislike of George when there is slime like Goodkind about.
All hail George R. R. Martin! All hail Steven Erikson!
