In its current form apparently it's not transmissible enough and causes severe illness too quickly after the infected person becomes contagious. But left unchecked it could mutate into a pandemic contagion...

This sounds a lot like Ebola. Very contagious if you come into direct contact with it but it's not airborne and the timeline between being contagious and being too sick to move is so short that it's not very likely someone can unknowingly reach an international hub while shedding.

Actually Nippah and Ebola both can be dormant for up to 14 days. As a zoonotic disease spread by bats the low spread is partially tied to the regions these outbreaks occur. Not in places with strong infrastructure and fast travel.

Nippah I think has minor transmission through breath/droplets at short range I believe. Ebola has a strain that’s airborne that currently only infects monkeys but we know Ebola can be easily weaponized to be airborne. Ebola’s can also spread through sweat, I don’t think nippah can.

In any event fuck RFK man is a menace. Vaccines rule! Thank god we know have vaccines for Ebola. The WHO does more positive than harm and early attention, quarantines and testing are vital for dealing with epidemics.
