"I was just saying, you know, if Lincoln was around, he'd have very bad numbers. Bad numbers. The southern states would be very awful. Even the generals, you know like, McClellan, a Democrat, he'd be all for giving in, you know. So, maybe we should just say, 'Hey, I guess we should talk'", but I don't know. Vlad, he tells me that might not be good for me."
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Good lord, the brain worms.

He remains crystal clear on at least one topic though:

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I really want to see that show now, but I don't get Showtime. I want to see what the dust-up was between him and that windsock between the ears Sarah Palin. Of course she loves it though, it puts her back on television. May have to traverse some torrent sites to find the episodes. Posted Image

Welp, that was a half hour of alternating between guffaws and horror. Just like the old days!

I can't stand awkward and embarrassing humour, so I can't imagine I'll watch that but I do look forward to seeing what kind of crazy shit he gets the politicians to say or do.

Putin makes Trump wait. Arrives in a ludicrous Russian made limousine. Proves he has the bigger penis.

Demented stammering?

Seriously though, what does Trump need to do to get kicked out? Nuke his own country? I mean, surely he cannot sink lower than this, when even Fox News commentators are shocked by his antics?

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Thread:

Some of this is above my head, but it is basically linking the Kremlin to certain GOP political heavies through the NRA, via Maria Butina, no?

Watched CNN's coverage of the Putin summit. What a predictably weird event.

When asked to question Putin's sincerity he begins babbling about Clinton's e-mail servers. I'm surprised he didnt start talking about the millions and millions of fans at his inauguration.

He does so many of those MAGA rallies that he's like a washed up rock star or band who lives off past hits. He's up there thinking someone's out there yelling "play Free Bird man!" Or "play Stairway to Heaven!" Except for Trump it's the Clinton emails hit. Or Obama let this happen hit. He's the only president, in my memory, that continues to use a previous president or candidate that he beat as a talking point to try and win arguments. I never heard Obama once invoke Bush's name (although he did say he inherited the 2008 financial crisis, which was correct). Nor did I ever hear Bush W. ever invoke Bill Clinton's name. It's like, hey asshole, the 2016 election was two years ago, can you quit obsessing about Clinton and Obama.

Always remember: even as Republicans "But Sir!" him all over TV and social media for this, they still give him everything he wants because they actually agree with everything he's doing. And every journalist who isn't pointing this out on the regular is incompetent or complicit. This particular press conference is only shocking if you were in (or let's be honest, were feigning) denial all along. Until you actually see people taking hard action, it's just another collection of empty gestures.

Edit: (To be clear I'm talking about people with power/cache, like Jeff Flake or whoever...I agree with everyone here's reaction to this whole trip and the press conference in particular).

Fair enough. On the one side you have a corrupt, ultra-conservative, homophobic, racist, pseudo-Christian, shamelessly oligarchic regime. And on the other side you have Putin. I can see why they get along so well.

Wow. Trump is a duplicitous piece of shit. It's pretty much settled now that Putin has got something on him just waiting to spring.
